Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

LOL I plan on adding more-a few at a time though. And if you think they will be ok out there without heat Im going to try and brave this. That is an excellent idea about putting a towel over Ahmelias cage-Thank you!! I just gave them all cracked corn so hoping that helps a little. I am planning on leaving them closed up tomorrow as well. At lunch ran and bought them fresh spinach to help pass the boredom LOL.....(Im working from home with a sick daughter). Thanks for the reassurances.

Evening everyone, on the cold side out there. Picked up some feed today form the deal MLH's posted about- chickens seem to like it just fine

We have action in the incubator today- so far it looks like 8 eggs are pipped out of 29 eggs that made it to day 18 and off the turners! Of course we are at day 20!

Have a good evening

Evening all!
So from what I am reading, you can no longer link from photobucket to attach photos? Is that right? That would suck as all my photos are uploaded on to photobucket.

CC-those hen aprons are cute are your girls!

Frigid Evening All... Jim sent me a email and said the computer guy was gonna come this week end and set him up with a working system. I'll have fun sending him sites that I think he would enjoy.
Not much new here...hoping the cold snap only lasts a few days.

Left overs tonight. Hot chicken sandwiches with gravy from the roasted bird the other day. It's funny how we get two or three meals now from a single bird.....when we were younger it never made it past the first meal.

Gonna prolly bust a new bale of straw tomorrow for the coops and run. Tis the season, eh!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FORDMOMMY

That's because when we were younger, we could burn it off!

Ditto on the B-day wishes, FM! Hope you had a great day.

H&R, congrats on the pips. How exciting! Hope you have a very productive hatch. Tomorrow is day 20 for Alice's clutch!

Should have action tomorrow CC. Seems like the broodys always are a day early...although this cold weather set might be different? Good Luck for a great hatch. Is this her first brood?

BBP what the heck....she needs a scolding for sure! I sure like the covered run area this winter. If the sun is out the flock enjoys the room to scratch and play. It cuts all the draft for the pop hole. Nice to leave it open for extra fresh air without a draft.

Later bigz

Hi guys... Do any of you breed lavender orpingtons? I decided I want to try a couple Orps, but buff is all I see as listed at hatcheries...?

Hey Bigz... Do you think this family of 7 would have leftovers from one roasted chicken?

Hi all---I ended up stopping at my friend's house to see if she wanted to go to Wally with me...I had to pick up a prescription. We spent a lot of time wandering about the store. Found lots of stuff that I "needed" of course! So I am ticked at this new insurance Co that Dh's work uses...it is SUPPOSED to help pay for drugs BUT, this is the second time that upon trying to fill a prescription they have denied ANY coverage! Supposedly my 2 20mg tabs a day is too much so they only allow a 1 month script. BUT--they wont allow it to be filled at 2 20s! THey want the Doc to rewrite it for 40mg/day. (in ONE pill) Of course the 40mg pills dont cost double the 20's they are TRIPLE! I think because the 20s are prescribed more often. Then they will cover them but my co-pay is more than if I just pay for the 20s out of pocket...why do we even HAVE insurance anyway...it's not like it is free either!

THanks all who have tried to help me with the picture issue...that is exactly what I am doing! I now have 3 saved pics in my default album that are identical! When I hit the submit button NOTHING happens! I tried doing the pic first, the message then the pic and the pic in the middle...NOTHING! I am afraid to try it again cause I dont want to be frustrated again...the insurance crap is plenty right now thank you! I am using the newest version of FireFox...does anyone else use it? Maybe that is the problem? If I cant figure it out soon I will send one of the Mods the question...they can go and look in your account and see exactly what you have done!

on the hatches happening soon! I have two hens that are broody in the barn right now...not letting the one sit yet...Roadrunner is the other one and she has 13 eggs right now...seems to be thinking about starting to sit...I fear that all those eggs might have frozen though. Fingers crossed for all!

Tonight I am making something over rice...I have 3 jars of Patak's Curry that I bought at World Market on the weekend. NOt sure which one I want to use or if I want to use shrimp or chicken....DH isnt home yet and it only takes a short while to make so maybe I will wait...he was in a fowl mood when he left this morning so hasnt called to let me know when he will be home. (I think he is having a mid-life crisis personally)

AngieB--if you feel that your birds might be chilly (like," I am cold so you better put on a sweater") Just hang a 100W bulb in a reflector hood about 3' or so from the floor...preferably in a corner. If they get chilly they will go and sit under the "sun" for a bit to warm up. If they have to physically GO to the light it seems like they dont get accustomed to the heat. The light that I use to provide additional lighting in my coop is down low like that over an old dresser drawer. Sometimes I will find a hen sitting in the drawer enjoying the warmth of the bulb. Works for me!

Later! Terri O
