HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

to all my new chicken lover friends!

I just cleaned my microwave and remembered someone here saying they just got a new one because theirs was 10 years old. The one I just cleaned is 23! And it will be a sad, sad day when I have to replace it. Not a thing wrong with it except the light burned out (about 3 months ago) and I don't see an easy way to get at it. I have a tester and test it for leaks now and then and it's fine. It survived 4 kids and at one point I was cooking for 12. I can set the power level from 0 to 10 and can time delay, defrost and set the memory (haven't done that in ages). It's a larger capacity than most are now too, I can even fit my biggest Corning wear on the turntable. What expensive name brand is this great long lasting machine? GoldStar!

Sounds like you have my microwave lol, it's a 1985 GE Dual-wave, it's huge and built into the wall. Before we moved here we went thru two counter top microwaves and the largest thing that fit in them was a regualr size serving plate. This thing I got now, I can fit my 9 x 13 glass pan in it with a little room left. Things deffinitly are not made like they use to be .

Very Toasty Morning All! I'm likin the new stove! Need to get Cind's on the pallet today. Only a few loose ends to finish up otherwise. FT had the perfect names for your piggys last night but that was last night.

Got a new paint job on the ground yesterday evening. Maybe an inch. Laura mentioned to my dad the other day that it was our anniversary he asked how many years. I said I think it's 10 or 12. It's 6 and I knew that. hehe We both like to roll dates together so today is AnniVal. Mom has 2 blocked arteries that they can't do anything about until she gets stronger and has had 2 heart attacks since Thanksgiving, she fell and broke her pelvis about a month ago. And is fighting pneumonia. Sheesh! Like you said Cind hope for the best prepare for the worst. She's hanging on but.... On a much lighter note I made a cardboard cover for one of the chick feeders and twice now they have knocked it completely off. OMG if it's laying in the brooder they just go nuts. I mean the evil cardboard fell from the sky and is certain to kill them all!

Where the heck has Tomski been? One drawback to the new stove is that it holds 24" pieces, the old stove could handle up to 27" so a lot of the wood is too long. Need to invent a cross buck to saw them off. Something else to do in my spare time.

One of these day I'm gonna get some of that. Spare time sounds like fun! Susie think I have around 10 young roos to choose from if your interested. Have some very handsome stock! Six are very easy to control. All you need is a piece of cardboard.

Good Morning everyone...

I'm still here... Been logging on frequently, but not a lot to say - Just quietly "listening." LOL

Dr Ha - Same thing happened to us at camp, new stove only accepted 24" and all of our firewood already cut and stacked were 27". We took a chain, attached one end to a stump, hooked it over the pile of stacked wood and attached to to a come-a-long that was connected to a ground anchor. We then tightened up the pile as tight as we could - went around it with a sledge hammer to make sure that one side was nice, straight and even and then attacked the other side with a chain saw, cutting off the small pieces, starting at one end working our way "down and across." Ended up with a VERY nice looking pile of wood and a lot of "wood chips." LOL

Hope everyone has a great day....

Morning All!

Well I couldn't wait and I hope I get it right... I fired up the new incubator, it has a whopping 3 eggs in it, two of which are Serama eggs.

Dealing with snow down here, a stubborn laptop that doesn't like its space bar hit to often... I think I am hitting the backspace bar more than the actual space bar.... may have to snag DH's squishy roll up keyboard.

Well off to feed horses and chickens...

Good morning! Still snowing here...we have about 2" since yesterday afternoon, that along with the inch we got in the morning...looks kinda nice out there again! Since I forgot my dentist appt yesterday I rescheduled for this morning--what a dope! I also have to figure out my mileage for taxes (YUK) so DD20 can get her FAFSA in for school. I have no idea how many miles I traveled either...I sure hope I can figure it out...I am sooooo bad at keeping records! Maybe I wrote it in my planner? I think I may have tossed the old pages though---sheesh; guess I'll be fudging it again....SSSHHHH.

Tomski--that is a good idea about the wood pile! We had the same problem when we got a new stove. Nothing like looking at the "perfect" piece of wood and trying it 500 different ways and still the darn thing wont fit! I guess you solved that problem handily! So now you have another project DrH! It sounds like when I bought log end slabs from the flooring place. I told DH to just take the chainsaw and cut them off to lengths BEFORE taking the band off...yeah, now it is all laying out there rotting....still 16' long! So much waste...
Jim do like everyone says...open another window! You can do that now on your computer ya know! It's not just for playing solitaire! I had a client that only played that with his computer...must be an "old guy" thing! (sorry Jim--like Bigfam I just couldnt resist--gotta be me!) I told DH about your pups and he didnt say anything! He either A:agrees with me that we need one for a LSGD or B:is learning not to say "no way" to me or C:just wasnt listening! I am leaning toward the C option! Then he will say you never said anything about a LSGD....but then it will be too late! LOL! I do get ahead of myself!
Cind and all--I have thought of calling the vet but I think down in my heart it is my management practices that are at fault here. (at least somewhat) The last one was a common type of loss as was the leg back; but when the mothers died a few weeks ago that was very unusual...especially because they were inside! I have picked the worst time to go scrapping too...I thought lockdown was Sunday night...it is FRIDAY! That means hatch is Sunday...I need to set up the chick TV before I go I guess...I wont be looking through the window watching the hatching this time--I will be calling and asking the people to look and give me a report...that is going to drive them crazy! Then I will say, "anything going on in the birthing pen?" OMG--what was supposed to be a stress relieving weekend now has turned into a stress producing one! WHat a dope! I knew there was a reason I wanted to go the LAST weekend of the month!
I had a bunch more comments but I better get outside and check out the girls...then off to the dentist---yipeeee--NOT!
Happy Valentine's Day to all! Terri O

good morning all, just about an inch of the slippery white **** here.. it makes everything look so clean and new,, until I turn the birds loose.. It is amazing how they can trample all that snow down..

Years ago I bought a load of slab wood from Kulp Entr. I left it banded and cut the ends off to 16" lengths. I could cut a whole week's supply in about 10 minutes.. but when I could summon the extra bodies to help me, I fired up the tractor and used the buzz saw.. I always enjoyed cutting firewood.. something relaxing and theraputical about it.. my children didn't share that philosophy

I don't know much about computers.. you people who work with them and have for a long time, know so much.. as a newbie, it never entered into my head that a second window could be opened.. these things don't come with instructions,,, not that I would read them anyhow..

My DD#1 is a whiz on the computer.. but she is a lousy teacher.. she just assumes that I should know these basics.. her first question is usually, did you try such and such ? HeII no !! how would I know ? I told Annie that it is the equivalant of me handing someone a pile of lumber and saying, go ahead now, build me a house.. I can do it without any blueprints, why can't you?

Happy Valentines Day!!!
Got the pullet pen all cleaned and re-bedded with shaving and stuck the little dears in their new digs. They are happy to have more space. The Girls had fun trying to bully them through the pen wires. Buzzy is happy to have neighbors again.

TO- sorry about the loss of the baby.

DrH-*gasp* What kinda Chickie Dad are you to allow Evil Cardboard to attach them!! For Shame....LOL!!!

Cind-the microwave person was me! I remember growing up when the microwaves first came out. Dad bought Mom one. It was huge and called a radar range. That thing have two knobs and that was it. You could almost fit a small turkey in it! LOL! She had it forever and ever and I still remember the tone of the ding it made! I think she got rid of it when we moved to a house with a small kitchen and it did not fit. Years later she always wished she had kept it. I think 10 years is a good life for the junk they make now. Most of it only lasts about 5 years if your lucky. My refer is 10 years old and my washer and dryer are too. I just know that they will clunk out all at the same time.

Well, I have more to say, but I've gotta get going. Miss Lab needs to be walked and then I have to finish frosting the cake I made for my vet clinic friends. They were super nice and gave me a great discount on Saxon's arthritis meds so I want to thank them!!
