Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

As far as aprons go. I'll know if you need them if your rooster decides he has his favorite hens. The best thing to do if they are getting to rough with some of them, like ripping their head feathers is to get that hen out of their or remove the rooster. Last year I lost a lot of Ameraucana hens because the roos grabbed so hard on their heads that it sliced the skin and the actual skull was exposed. They are very agressive when they breed. They were young roosters full of themselves. Hopefully this year they will not be so agressive. We are thinking of putting all of the hens in one coop and just letting the roos free range. Maybe the fox will just have roos for dinner this year !!

Angie, that suxs about the internet problems. Nice that you can work from home though. Wish that would have been available years ago when i was working.

FT: Yes it seems there are 4 or 5 that are roughed up a bit..I am hoping too-that as they get out of their "teen" months they will settle down-or at least the roo Im keeping.

Internet isue: so after seriously 6 hrs of phone calls-horrible customer service from 3 places- we finally went online and discovered the issue was the recent firmware with this router doesnt work for VPNs-so I installed an older version of firmware-and it worked!!! frustrating though that we had to figure this out ourselves. As far as working from home-my previous position (same company) I worked from home every Friday-that was pretty kewl...but wouldnt trade that for my current position-lot less stressful. Im working from home because of a sick child today so that is nice. After all of this-the main program we use at work is down again (3rd day in a row) and can't really do much anyhow!! :p TGIF-3 day weekend ahead.

I'm not sure if my daugher came in contact with gluten on top of this nasty cold or what-her stomach hurts everytime she eats anything-hate how much school she ends up missing with all of this....so probably a weekend of makeup homework ahead.

Happy Fish Fry Friday....nothing new here. When you starting talking about a tape measure frenchie....I thought you were gonna say you needed one of those game tapes that tell you how much boned out meat you can expect from x number of girth inches....I should of known better, eh!
boo...boo...to you too

I called the DNR to make sure I can pack my S&W when I'm sitting on the bait....the law reads at least a 5.5 inch barrel for hunting. I won't be using smitty for hunting, but I know how the DNR would say I'm in violation sitting on the bait with it for backup, however They said I'm good to go. Before when we asked if the camera guy could pack they said no way, if he's by the bait is considered hunting. Go figure.

FT.... This is all I could find right now, I have a "cleaner" copy of the the pattern but it's made the same..
http://backtobasicliving.com/blog/make-a-chicken-saddle/

I got "Duck Cloth" for mine because it's tough but thought doubled it might be too heavy so the under side is going to be lighter cotton.

Cind, on your saddle pattern, I compared it to mine, which fits buff orps well & is a little big on blk. aussies, is a little bigger than mine, just so you know.
Mine measures: 7 1/2" wide (yours 8 1/2), 6" length on the body (8 3/4" total), 3" x 2 3/4" for the section between the wings. For Aussies, I'd say take a 1/2" off the measurements. I'm not sure on other breeds, though. And I think the gal used a flannel material with a fleecey backing. HTH

Now all my girls need are some little bonnets. Except Ezzy. She needs a helmet.

Good Morning Everyone! FT I forgot Chuck was laid off. Hope they get him back soon! Wasn't he just working a lot of OT? CC was thinking the same thing about the aggravating things. If you don't like it change it, if you can't change it just walk away. [I have different words that I use for that last part]. And piggies in a blanket

Cind let me know when you can come and get the stove it's ready when you are. An appraiser is coming today to do the house for the refinance he asked when I would be here? I told him I'm always here unless I'm somewhere else.

Tiki good to hear from you hope you get that puter so you can get back here and keep these people in line! TO hope that kid survives! Can you milk the ewe and bottle feed it? IDK. The talk of meatloaf made me think of one that I have a recipe for. It's stuffed with ham, broccoli, and mozzarella.

Took the time to sit with the chicks yesterday. We had a ball! The big kids spent 3 hours playing in their new straw and rearranging the nest boxes to their liking. Think this new stove is going to save me about a third of the wood I use to use. Kinda hard to tell with this weather. Kripes only plowed twice this year.

Better get goin.

Yeah, he did work OT for about a week or two. They had a big job to get out. Now I guess one of their customers is doing parts inhouse and tee'd off DH's boss and told them where to shove it because they were not being honest about their intentions etc.
Then he said he doesn't want DH working alone at the Elcho shop alone anymore. Guess the boss heard of an accident that happened where there was a person working alone and there was no one to help. Guy is ok but I guess it freaked him out. They are still working on getting more machines up and running and more guys will be working up there with him. He said in a week or two so we shall see. If not, we're screwed !!! ( I have different words for that too ! LOL)
Pigs in a blanket are doing good !!! Actually they have towels for their bedding. lol

I just got some in the mail and I don't like them at all. PM me and i'll tell ya who i got them from if anyone is interested. CC I got some from another BYC member a few months ago and I like it a lot better. Can you pm me and tell me who you got yours from?
Talk about wasting money. I sent her the measurements and everything and wow, don't fit at all. Geez.
Ok, gotta go get some things done.

Yep, I thought the pattern looked a bit big too so I cut a couple that size and made a few about an inch smaller. Still have to find a place I can sew without cooking! Maybe the dining table.

Going over to a friend of DH's for supper tonight. But still got to make something for DS for supper.

Catch you all later.

Hi AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAll, whoops ! Hi All ,

I got the dog bred today. all went well.. cost me 6 ducks and I tossed in a goose for good measure..

Had good biscuits and gravy just north of Arpin at Me and Mom's cafe..

take some of that crumbles and melt it in a dish with water.. there is grit in it.. and if you have any sand at all, use it,, don't buy any. It doesn't have to be pure sand either, just dirt will suffice.
free range chickens do not need grit added,, they can pick up what they need on the range..

medicated or non ?? opinions.. hmmm,, what to do,,what to do. ,,, one or the other ? maybe both ? imho do what you feel you need to..

it just started snowing here .. I have my truck windows open.. hope the wind doesn't kick up..

having baked fish in a little while.. cole slaw and potato salad.. ReeeED Robin, Yummmm

can't focus,, must have tired eyes..

..............jiminewisc..............

Jim you have to promise to NOT post pictures of any Nora babies!! I won't be able to take it...

What a deal though... 6 ducks and a goose?! That is incredible considering what people want for a stud fee! You are one lucky duck... Lolololololol :lol:
