I am so tired I am seeing double..

BL4 , the pullet eggs will not usually hatch.. I am content to wait..

I got 100% egg production from my Barred Rocks today.. ta DAaaa.!!

the Dels went up to 50%..

Our peafowl just started with the very loud cries today also.. must be getting close to breeding season..

Just for the Halibut, I hooked the Farmal A to the single bottom trailer plow that I reconditioned two years ago.. Never had the opportunity to try it out until now.. It didn't work very well.. I have to do a little modification on the tractor draw bar.. the tractor handled it quite well otherwise, but the plow is way out of adjustment and it trails too close to the dead furrow..

as a result, I get only a half of a furrow with each pass.. It was still fun for a half an hour anyway..

Mr Kilt sounds too formal.. Sir Kilt sounds eligent...

but it doesn't matter, I think you ladies chased him away...

Hi All!

Joe... yup, snappers make good eattin'! When I was a kid we lived across the road from the river...and the neighbors all around were "Redneckish" LOL Plus my grandfather could catch/hunt and make almost anything table ready! Guess you get that way from allot of hard times and living off the land. My favorite way is pressure cooked in chicken broth and onions then finish it off like chicken and dumplings.

Jim... Hope you got all the rats or whatever was getting in! I found a couple of new holes when I cleaned the coop... should get some traps too.

How's the new pot working out?

Only one so far of 6 that survived the transportation. We found one blank this week.

The kids at work were able to watch chicks and quail push out of eggs today. When I left work at 5:30pm we had 2 chicks and 1 quail. The chicks were going after the quail so I set up a barrier to protect the quail eggs from the 3 pipped chicks and 20+ other chick eggs.

What an amazing experience!

I'll tell you, growing up in Racine and having Lake MI as the border on the East there was only West to travel. You folks living in the middle of the state, wow It's like a whole new world out there.
Bigfam, I can't believe Fleet Farm isn't your favorite store..... YET !!! I don't recall seeing it on the shelf but I think they have the little packets of vitamins you add to one gallon of water.
I get the Vital. by Ideal. Found in the cattle section. Blue bag. At High level concentrate you only use 1/4 tsp per gallon of water. It goes a long way. It has electrolytes in it so you don't want to give it every day. Just Sayin

I live just outside Prairie du Sac and Sauk City. Sister towns that run into each other. I am technically the township of Roxbury, but since it's unincorporated it doesn't count. I am in Dane county, but only a mile from Columbia county and Sauk county borders. Let's see if you can pinpoint my location from all that... You might as well have lots of coffee stops with the cool people along your way. You'll need the caffeine to make this road trip! I can see it now... EL that sucks about your hens hope you catch the culprit! Jim I agree still fun though HUH? Did some reading yesterday on the 3 pt creep. Turns out the 9N's don't have a static postion 8N's do.

Frenchie, when are you taking this trip??? I know I read it, but it is about 1000 pages back......

I have ONE drake and THREE hens. All bibbed, one hen is gray and the drake is sort of wild colored (he is pretty unusual with the coloring) and the other girls are black.

Jim, no problem I will wait until I get full sized eggs from everyone (if I still have all 8 ducks).

Morning all!
Just wanted to stop in before I head out to the market.

Tragic news here, somehow one of my PR's managed to get into the pen with SG and her kid. Sadly the chick did not survive the encounter.

Now SG is still making broody clucks but she is running around and returning to non SG broody behavior. I think I'm more broken up then she is. I'm thinking she will break her brood in then next day or 2. Poor little chickie.....

Other then that, everyone seems to be doing fine.

Well, I'm off. I have to finish cleaning the coop out and now that the rabbits are out of it, I want to move Buzzy around. I also have to set up an area for Ben and Co. They are getting big and the porch brooder situation is getting to small to contain those three miscreants.... They like to meet me at the door for their morning treats...
