Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Ok MxM, I just checked out your blog.... Very cool! You do cakes too? You have GOT to make it to the Bash! We have so much to chat about!!!!

Ok, going to bed now..... ;)

Brought our kitty home about an hour ago. Poor guy looks like a pin cushion, but he definitely looks like he's feeling better than when he left. He even ate some. They sent us home with 3 different pills I have to give him in the morning (2 are once a day, the other is every 8 hours). Yeah, that'll be fun........ Plus, I have to go get some other med that I have to inject him with daily. My poor baby.

Better try to get some sleep, I guess. Tomorrow might be another long day. Sweet dreams, all! And Terri, thank you dearly for the PM. It is very much appreciated! As are all the well wishes for my kitty. He needs all the positive thoughts he can get. Thank you all!!!!

Hey everybody. We spent the last two days on college tours with my son who is a hs junior. We did Whitewater and Madison. It is so so cool to see him so excited and engaged in this next step of his life.

My two girls are doing well. I came in last night and told my dh - I just love having chickens! I go out in the evening and just watch them. I've been picking dandelion greens for them and they just love them.
Mugs.. I would try to steer your DS to Whitewater, I think the expenses will be a lot less!! Madison is very pricey.. for students and the move in/out from off campus housing is INSANE! Yes I am still alive, we now have 38 eggs in the bator so lets hope all goes well!

Hi All!
Gee it seemed like allot to read today!

GR...I don't think there is an egg withdrawal time when Seven. They don't get it in their system (at least not enough to count) it just kills the bugs.

Bf4m... sorry about the chick

A coon can flatten out pretty good when they want to. I can see a not too fat coon doing that.

EL... That must have been cute watching the chatter about their food. You could sprinkle some food on the ground so they get the hang of looking for food. Your daughter's pic is so cute! A little Country/Western star in the making! LOL

MLH... LOL... you can head the "gang" of chicken outlaws! Pass out cards... Have eggs will travel! If you get caught, maybe they will lock you up in a coop.

Ken... She probably told her friend they could have the chicks right from the start... probably why she squawked so hard when you took them! Hope you get your stuff back!

CS... From what I understand (and seems to have been proved here) is the "production red" types are sex linked first generation. If you start breeding a PR roo with PR hen, most likely any roos will also be red. This last fall when Lacy was broody I just grabbed some eggs for her. My only "active" roos at the time were PR (golden comets). SO... Of the 5 roos that hatched from that batch I had 1 red roo who's mom and dad were both Golden Comets. I also figured out what breeds the mommas where of the others, except the 1 hen I got out of that batch.

tiki... weird eggs happen! LOL did she lay just the yolk and then the white w/the shell?

BBP.... That white one is just darling!!!! If you can make anymore like her, I'll take 4! REALLY! How big is she? If that bared turken is a hen... I'll take her! If, of course, Apyl's daughter doesn't want her.

CC... so sorry about your cat! I dread the day when one of ours gets sick. Hope you can make his time left comfy.

Well, one of the chicks died, the one that was most likely full Ameraucana

but another did hatch so I'm still at 4. If all goes well tomorrow (fri.) I will pick up 4 just hatched Doms! I'm going to see if I can sneak them in with the other chicks.

Guess that's it... Night All!

Thank you so much Cind. It is so hard when their health starts ti falter, especially when they are so young.

I am so sorry you lost a chick. That is so sad to loose a baby. Congrats on the new one! Are those Doms purebreds, do you know?

I think the turken is a rooster. :(
I have a friend who will take him if no one else wants him. I do love my cochins and my little white silkie mix stole my heart right out of the egg. I have no idea where the white color came from.
My blind chick is slowly whithering away. I tried to feed it again last night but it wouldn't eat. Poor little thing will probably be dead when i go to check on them this morning.

CC I am so sorry about your kitty..... he might surprise you though and respond to treatment better than the Vets think. Just pamper you baby while you can.

Mugs; there are so many cool things about the way Wisconsin deals with higher education. For example, you can be enrolled at any of the 4 year schools, and yet go to school at one of the 2 year satellite campuses (saving a lot of money on tuition). Another wonderful part of going to a 2 year campus (besides the individual attention and small class sizes) is if you get your Associate degree you can transfer to any of the 4 year schools and NOT have to take ANY GDR's! I really loved that. I think when I went to school I saved at least 20k going that route (if not more). Good luck in your search!!!!

Yearly review today...... maybe I earned some brownie points with the zombie decor in the Boss' office....

and then he is buying us lunch. I really like my job.....

Later all!

Good morning folks

looks like another great day in the north (at least until late afternoon when we have some much needed rain predicted)

CC good luck with the cat,,,,remember they do have 9 lives have you kept a running total over the years

Bf4,,,once again WOW,,,and here I was thinking the mural would be on the outside of the coop to greet you whenever you went in
I would cover coat it with clear protectant,,,had these in a coop since Oct,,,no respect shown to walls,,,,

DD Leslie woke me up when she got home from work "Dad, someone wants to meet you" ,,,now waking up from a dead sleep I of course had NO idea WHAT she was talking about,,,going into the living room there she is with a DOG!,,,cute dog,,,looks like a Jack Russel (for years I talked about one) got him in a rescue scenario, 3 months old been with his siblings since birth, a gal she works with took them a week ago, the couple that had them really couldn't deal with these pups,,,so,,,seems to be calm for his age, and appears pretty trainable,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the cat stayed downstairs all night,,,,lol

roof and wire on the growout cage this morning and finally moving the Marans in,,,,good thing I didn't contract this job

bbl need an early start

OH,,,,Bf4 have fun with your company today and tks for helping put this together

The ultimatum came down yesterday. No more house chickens... Including peeps. That give me licence to build a brooder, right? I just have to find a good spot out of the way where the birdies will survive. Hmm... I will probably only brood 5-10 peeps at a shot, how big should I make it? They will have to hang out in the garage so not much space next to my Motorcycles.

Have a great day everyone! I am going to till up the garden this am and then head to Grand Rapids, MN.

Later,
KEN

speaking of call ducks, My lone boy has a crush on my "scovie girl, now THAT is FUNNY! I gotta get a video of that!
lau.gif

BL4 I'm looking for 2-3 girls for him.

I HATE insulation! I/we shoveled it out from where the floor is gonna be and threw it all over my bedroom where there was NONE!
roll.png
now we get to fer out the ceiling to accomidate the new insulation. then build the walls and IF it wasn't gonna RAIN this weekend we would have took off the one roof part to raise it. BUT anywho its gonna rain, so on Sunday we are going someplace after church to pick up some barn beams for the 2 support beams! YAY! that will look nice! it's picture day, I'm gonna get some updated pics of the upstairs. you can compare to what it looked like before we shoveled insulation lol
anywho, I gotta go
