Morning all. I'm sorry to hear the bad news this morning, TO, Bf4m, and unk. Hugs.

My arugula and radishes are up. I haven't made it out there yet today to see if anything else is poking up. This crappy weather needs to go away so those seeds get nice and warm.

In also doing more research on rootstocks and my orchard, I came to the realization I was over spacing and wasting space. So, if I follow the 15 foot spacing rule, I can get **** near 90 trees in that area( rather than the 32 with 25 ft spacing). I'm not sure I want an orchard that big, so that brings us to cutting it back. I don't want to waste space, so I'm not going to space them farther apart. Back to the planning board. By the time we move we'll have everything so perfectly planned it will look like we lived there forever!

TOM !! glad to hear from you again.. we were worried ..

I have 4 quail this morning and it looks like another is pipped.. I don't think I made a mistake on the hatch date.. I gave them 16 days and they are 4 days over that.. the quail are still my favorite babies to hatch.. they hit the deck running and are so independent in just a couple of hours.. they are more like miniature quail rather than babies.. I think I will dig out my quail pen for these.. TerriO, I forgot to show you that pen.. maybe that was a good thing or else you might have stole it when you left..
I am not going to take pics of the quails, so just look at MLH's pics and imagine only 4 of them.

I slept on the couch last night so Nora stayed on the floor.. I am down here, and now she is on the couch upstairs,, no doubt..

CC, have you been talking to Annie again ?

TerriO, I agree, have your DD buy the hay, as long as you are doing the feeding and all the etc's.. but I know how it is with kids and mothers.. so I will just shut my mouth and let it be.. that is how I handle it around here.. (my youngest "kid" is 46) but the instinct spills through to the grandkids.. (my youngest is 20) ..

Ski, there are a ton of newbies here since you were gone.. don't miss a day of reading .. or you will be ten pages behind.. not kidding..

Now we have to get Deb to check in.. anybody know about her ? she must be thawed out by now..

TO so sorry to hear the bad news !

How old was she? I know the U W does do necropsies on chickens, I'm sure they would do one on a parrot. You'd save money going straight to them since some vets will send them there and then charge you for there services as well.

Stupid ducks! You would THINK that 14 eggs would be enough to get ONE of them broody..... ugh, with my luck they will start sitting NEXT week, and that would mean babies hatching the weekend of the Bash! Maybe it needs to warm up a little bit more.....

TO sorry about your bird, I agree with FT.

Spent the AM rotting down at the coffee shop and now just waiting to pick up a friend at 3. Did the prep work for dinner, so really not much to do except take a nap...... I COULD clean but that gets old. Maybe I will watch Castle on Hulu.....

Where are those 70* temps hiding?????? We were so spoiled in March.....

I found my missing call duck and her NEST this morning. I knew that little snot had eggs stashed away somewhere. The good news is, she's in a shrub right next to the house. So she's relatively safe.

I told you I would be back,, and I told you that Nora would have her pups on the couch.. only one so far.. the couch is covered with bed liners.. I was out in the shop when she had the pup.. Annie and Ken were overseeing the process..

Annie set the dog bed in a different spot and it worked,, well, sort of.. Prince thinks it is just great..

I have 3 of the 5 drawers tweaked and glued.. had to trim 1/8" off the back pieces and 1/16" off of two edges of the plywood bottoms..

these glides give you almost zero tolerance for mounting.. I can see some shimming in my near future.. They are made in China, so of course have nothing for mounting tolerances or any other instructions.. just a drawing of the drawer side showing the glide, no dimensions whatsoever.. That is about as helpful as the instructions from mapquest telling me how to get out of my driveway..

any body with call ducks PLEASE PLEASE keep me in mind when you have calls for sale. I'll take eggs, duckling - adults! I got the run ALL done AND the cover cloth netting stuff all on it. lol
I'm leaving SOON to go pick up 1 lone call duckling, do you think I should get him/her a buddy IF they have any other breeds of ducks? I think so. otherwise it may be an indoor duck till it can hold it's own. I was hoping that silly 'scovie would sit on her eggs already but alas she has not. IDK if she's even fertile. (no sign of life in the egg I put in the 'bator on.............. the 14th. YET, I'm thinking thats NOT a good sign)

Is it REALLY bad to keep a boy goat with a girl goat? EVEN if you WANT babies? best to keep them apart till you want them? what about the stinkiness of boys? I heard they are REALLY stinky!
