Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

thanks for the recipe.. what is stevia sweetener ?

yes , guineas do pair up.. watch for the rooster.. he will sit in a tree near the nest while the hen is setting.. the nest will still be difficult to locate if it is in the brush..

This would have been the scene at Jims place if he wouldn't of thrown out all of the good duck eggs !!

BBP Congrats on the new horse. Can't wait for pictures.

Speaking of pictures, going to town tomorrow, hopefully I'll remember to get a new card for my camera. I owe someone some pictures !!!

Well our pony has us trained !! It's become a daily ritual around here now to catch the belgian a donkey or two and that Gosh darn Cute as Button Pony Giovani. I can see how the donkeys and the pony get through the fence but the Belgian. Still a mystery. If she's jumping it I sure would like to see that !!

TO don't you know better then to ride a pony ??? No wonder he bucked you off !!! Hope your feeling better and your Pride isn't hurt to bad either.

Unkadan, did I miss something? Do you run a Greenhouse up in Eagle River? If so I'd love to visit it someday. What kind of tomato plants do you have?

Tomorrow will be a sad day. I am rehoming some of the runner ducks that I hatched about a week ago. I am keeping a few. There is one that I think will be a black and white pied. It is adorable. It has all black legs and orange feet. Looks like he is wearing swim fins. Will either name him Flipper or Jock Custo (I know that isn't how to spell it but I haven't the foggiest idea) lol

I might keep all of the black and white pied since I don't have any of those, they must have come from the new blacks runners that I added to my flock last fall (when I came home with the pig when I just went to pick up the runners !! LOL)

Speaking of pigs, Porky, Piggy and Wiggy are doing great. The two siblings follow Porky around. He is their idol. He shows them the ropes. Porky will rut a hole in the ground and Wiggy will have to stick her nose in to see what was so special in that spot !!!
My geese are free ranging and keeping the grass mowed as are the two escapey goats that manage to jump out of the pen. They stand on the horse water trough insulated box that is still in their pen. Actually DH puts hay inside of it. Earl likes to eat in their. Weird. Hank and Earl are my two newest goats and you sure can tell they were allowed to roam all over the place. I'll find them on my golf cart. On the ATV. Well everyplace. These days I just go from one place in my yard to another and sit and watch (while I should be working LOL). Never a dull moment. Of course I was outside all day on Tuesday waiting for Beauty the Belgian to Jump or crawl under the fence and she of course didn't do it !!!

Hey Jim, we want more recent puppy pictures !!!
love.gif
Btw what kind of ducks did they tell you they were?
And we need updated info on your baby goats Bf4m. Oh and I have you beat, I have 6 sons, not including all of the horses, donkey's, the pony and roosters. All of my goats are males. I love my boys until of course they walk between my legs and then decide to back up. They all have horns !! Ouch !! I figure it is just a matter of time, one of these days they'll get me.
Ok, gotta look up some duck sites to pass on to the new owner. Night all.

It's a natural sweetner. Made out of some kind of leaf I think. Could be wrong but know it is suppose to be a very sweet natural sweetner. It's not cheap but it goes a long way, I think. Never tried it.
I'm a sweet and low kinda gal. I've been using it all my life, why quit now !!! LOL

I've got two huge guinea nests. One is under a whole bunch of old rusted chicken wire that is in a pile from the previous owners. I can't get inside of it to remove the eggs and the nest has been abandoned.
The other nest is so cute. It is in some tall brown grass and it is shaped like a Tee Pee. Not sure if they are still laying in it or not. Last I counted there were 45 eggs. My bators were full so I couldn't set any. The last eggs I set were not fertile so I will try again but now I won't have time to hatch any for bigfam4me before the bash.

How's the fertility on yours Jim?

Now that my bators are nearly empty I think I am going to try some muscovey eggs. Maybe some more geese. I'm hoping my White Chinese would go broody but she hasn't yet. She has at least 10 eggs in her dog house !!

I have one Chinese gosling (so I was told) that is huge compared to the gosling that I hatched from my mixed breed pair. And they are about the same size as the Chinese. And compared to the Runner ducklings it looks like King Kong !!

Ok, now I'm going to search for Duck info.

I'm all alone

Thanks Jim... I may have a clue as to where the nest is! At the very least lets me know what to look out for. I feel kinda sorry for the white guinea... she always seems to be an outcast. Maybe I should get another white hen from you so she has someone to pal with.

Now I'm alone !!!

To dang hot to sleep !!! All these incubators and brooders warming the house up doesn't help matters !! And for some reason DH seems like a towering inferno tonight !!! Keep telling him to move over. He says which way !!!!

Good Stormy Day All! Taz woke us up at 4:30 to tell us Bob wanted to come in.

So I got up. TO didn't read it but sounds like you took a nasty fall, hope you feel better soon! Thanks for all the congrats on the bird! Will probably cook one breast whole and make cajon strips out of the other one.

Things happened just as I figured, never heard a bird the whole morning. It was fun watching that hen feed and preen with her silent new found friends.
lol.png
It was nice to renew my personal relationship with the land! Nothing answered my calls. Just kept the beard and a leg didn't keep the fan, no room on the walls for another. No brag just fact.
roll.png
Those will probably be removed when I remodel. Cind glad to hear your coming Sat.! NO don't need no more birds. Like I said bring a cage for some roo's.

I'll get the forks on the tractor tomorrow. Just bring extra room in the truck in case you see something you need. You must be planning on making a lot of stops on the way, it's a 3 hour trip at best. I like to get up early but 4:30 is too early don't know what I'll get done today. A nap is on the list. Better go take care of the kids.

suns out!, another soaker with no storm here just missed looking at the radar

working on getting Jake used to chickens he is loose with me every morning for an hour or so, the layers stay in the coop. He does the look in the brooder shack without too much interest,,,as the Marans exit the growout cage into the pen he does perk up and is learning not to stand on the fence,,,when they don't run from him he looses interest fast. Next stop he has to wakeup the rabbits,,,still wayyy too much puppy energy, hopefully as he matures that will calm him down (wishful thinking with a terrior mix)

Sandi, I have a market stand at the road, 1 acre of garden now and I grow in ground in the gh, last year I did sell plants off CL,,,this year not planning at this point, but I will sell extra plants. I have heirloom tomatoes mostly and depending on actual planting maybe some peppers, basil, etc. I can pm you a list if interested

got a nice mix out of the Marans chicks, Bill had a blue copper roo and a birchen roo ( both from BD) over his BCM hens on that hatch,,,and his best olive egger hen (biggest darkest eggs) they are now doing the 8 wk old molt, interesting seeing these color changes, I'll post some pics later if I have time

I have 24 more BCM chicks coming in 2 weeks from him,,,best BCM roo over his best BCM hens this time

need some breakfast and back to work for the morning

bbl

good morning, had a pretty good soaker this morning.. some thunder to go along with it.. still 99.9% humidity out there.. Nora must have not slept with the puppies.. she is soaked and trying to sneak into the house.. sorry old gal.. the pups managed to stay fairly dry.. they are all snoozing together, ..

Sandi, the people did not say what kind of duck eggs, just dropped them off when I was not here..

It is time for the chicks in the brooder to go into one of the portable pens.. then I can put a large feeder and 5 gallon waterer is with them.. the barocks still go into that pen to lay their eggs, but they will have to learn to go someplace else..

gardening is out of the question for today.. I have plenty else to do, just pick a project.. going for breakfast, first..

well TerriO, today is day 3.. you should be good and stiff and sore today.. hope you did not hurt yourself like permanently.. I got my leg crushed between two horses when I was a kid, and now it still bothers me..

My oldest grandson helped move some furniture for a friend.. pinched a nerve in his neck or arm.. cannot raise his hand higher than his belly button.. Neck MRI showed nothing..
