Angiebubs, it is most likely coccidiosis. And it was a late hatching chick again. I cleaned out their cage, but another one has bloody poop. I'll have to get medicine asap.

Bl4, I hope your Fatty just has an infection, but if he does eat things he shouldn't, it might be a blockage. I sure hope not, though.

I wish I knew how these spoiled, well-fed & cared for cats managed to come down with all these crazy ailments. Especially since mine isn't even old. I can understand age-related ailments, or eating something foreign, but how does an 8 year old even get congestive heart failure, anyway?

ChickenLover, I agree with everyone who answered you on here already. Your hen is the alpha & is just doing what they do to stay on top of the pecking order. In a few days they will have figured it out and things should calm down. It doesn't make it any easier to watch though, I know.

BTW, if you get rid of her, another one will just take her place & have very similar behavior. That's just how chickens are.

MLH, I learned that CL trick from the master enablers on here, Carol & FT. You're not Miss Innocent in the enabling dept. either, ya know.

Hey all just now getting done with my horrendous day, so no time to catch up, will have to read the 40 posts in the morning.....anyway I have a problem 1 of my many complications today. My Delaware hen and rooster had a little accident yesterday I think, because she didn't sleep on the roost last night she slepot in the laying box.anyway when he was doing the 2 second dance he mist have slipped and his spur though not huge ripped her open........ she is in the hospital cage all day today recooprating, and seems fine, though I wish I would seen it yesterday she needed stitches............ but it will have to heal up on it's own. anyway how can I keep this from happing with my other girls? can I trim or cut the spurs short and blunt? or make a cover for them or something HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is a really nice rooster, but god surely could have came up with another means of defense besides these pointy things? what can I do? and anything I should do for my girl besides keep it clean, and vetracined and her separate from the others? TY Kim

Kim, I've heard of people trimming ir filing spurs before. Or you could try putting a saddle on your hens.

I'm so going to sleep! Just spent an hour and a half fighting with my 2 yr old to go to sleep! Laying on a crib mattress and being climbed on sucks. I love him to bits, but I'm getting liquid melatonin for him and drugging him EVERY night!

Holy Toledo !! Took me forever to catch up !!

I spent the whole day with my sister and BIL,long story short, I only got a few hours of sleep last night so I'm dragging. We went to a few rummage sales, Taco Bell for lunch then they came over to see the horses, pigs and critters. Especially Giovani the pony I got for my sisters Grand daughter Addie. She fell in love with him and watch as we had to round him up AGAIN and put him in the pasture with the rest of the horses.

BBP, Georgous horse. I don't remember if you said, how old is he? I was thinking the same thing. He has a very gentle and kind eye. Hope you and your son enjoy him. Please read up horse safety tips.
WOW all of a sudden I feel like I'm going to fall asleep while typing this. I had better go before I start rattling again.

Oh I now have 13 chicks in my brooder. 2 lavender silkie chicks, 1 blue french copper maran, 1 Black lavender split orpington, and that leaves me with I think 9 Lavender Orpingtons !!

Guess the secret to hatching is to go to bed or leave the house for the day. They pop like poporn then !!!

Oh and Dr Ha !!! If you aren't going to the bash then I'm not going !!!!

Hi all.....Long , long, looonngg day! Had fun at DrH.'s ,,, saw the famous Petwo (did I spell that right?)

Long day. little sleep, came home and had to get things ready for youngest son to temp. move in.... he's going to be spending the summer in what used to be my work shop

Making it nice and cozzey but d@mn.... there goes my tool/work space and about 1/2 of my storage.

I love him dearly and glade we can help but....

OK, must try to sleep so I can get up and clean/move some more.

The horse is 10. My son has been taking lessons for months. He'll probably go at least through the summer. He's used to riding a 19 year old horse that has all the gaming patterns memorized and does not get spooked at anything. I noticed yesterday when my son spit the horse jumped a little. But the grandkids of the people who had him are horrid. They treat the animals very poorly, so I'm glad he's getting out of there.

Good Stormy Morning All! The worst has passed us but it's headed east folks. More rain, don't need it! Knew that if typed no water in the crawlspace we'd get some. Sure enough but not enough yet to turn on the sump. Cind's right we had a nice visit albeit short. Was good to see her! Got to meet one of her son's and he wanted to get back on the road. Can't blame him, long ride. Managed to get the stove loaded but forgot to watch the back blade and busted the crap outta the frame for the run door.

Added that to the list this morning. Sandi you can go to the Bash we're going but don't know the details yet. CLWi and a lot of others I'm not ignoring you it's just by the time I get done reading all the posts it's gone or I'm confused. Comes with

GR65-You can trim that roosters spurs. Their spurs continually grow just like their toe nails do so you have to trim them down. I use dog toe nail clippers. It doesn't hurt them to trim or cut their spurs. If you have questions PM me....

BL4-Hope your kitty responds to medication.....

CC-I am sorry to say that Congestive Heart Failure can be genetic. That might be why your young kitty has it.
