APYl... it all depends on the colors there are some crazy silkie color charts out there. I am sending some eggs over to Carols incubator and when they (if) hatch I will know which of my current two hens they came from. I am pretty sure I have one roo that is dominant and have never seen the other near the hens. I love my silkies.

Angie I have one salmon favorelle but not sure if it considered large fowl or bantam.. it is between the two. Very sweet mellow beard... love how the beard bounces when she walks.

You all have a blast at chickenstock and take some good pictures and raise a glass to those that are not there. Beleive me I have plants I could have shared and taken some back as well.

so today in my chicken world I got to watch the whole flock chase a chipmunk??? wth don't they think they are "cute"?,,the last few days I have some turkey vultures at like 500ft,,,dang these birds have good eyes. When I don't see or here them I look up,,,,,yup more vultures

I have increased their protein and that seems to have helped some. They are now blu butts so we will see if this works. BTW~found out that GOOP hand cleaner (not the stuff in the orange in bottle but in the white tub) takes off Blu-Kote from your skin with little work!!!!

Good thing too because I had one hen that was not too thrilled with getting the back of her head sprayed and shook the stuff everywhere (aka on me!) and I was more concerned with getting the girls covered that I wasn't paying attention where my other hand was. Without the GOOP I would have looked really weird at dinner on Mother's Day

If anyone wants some month old chicks at bash time let me know. The Ameraucanas Prettyboy and Geroge are the daddys to them all. Mom's are Australorp, Blue Ameraucana, Cochin, Gold Comet, and a few I'm not sure of. All the pullets from this batch should lay blue, green or brown eggs.

New, used, chicken, non-chicken, anything goes really. We play it as a game, everyone who brings a gift draws a number. We take turns picking, and then there is always some stealing involved, and it can get a little wild! And we never turn away good food.

Temp in the bator has evened out, now the humidity is getting wonky. I put in a one pint jar half filled with water and the humidity went from 14% to 60% over night. What should I have it at and what do I need to do to fix it. I am hoping to put eggs in tomorrow.

white elephant = mostly we've had things that people have laying around that they don't want any more but think someone else may want it. some people have brought things that were new, some have brought fertile eggs

can be anything, doesn't HAVE too be chicken related. and yes a dish to pass, maybe even something for sat/sun breakfast just incase lol. guess theres nothing else to know, but don't forget tents sleeping bags and clothes lol

Afternoon All!
Just checking in! Today is the start of the Edgerton City Wide garage/rummage sales. I got a chance to see some of them. I bought a muffin pan for 50 cents and a very nice rabbit cage for $6. I thought it's make a great brooder for seminars. I also got a very cool Coleman folding camp kitchen with sink and drain hose for $15! I thought it's be great for washing chicken waterers and feeders.
Tomorrow DH will be going with me to see more sales. The official day is tomorrow.

I also went to Maynards and got my Preen for the flower bed and I also got some garden soil and top soil to mix in. That is a start.
They had a sale on play sand so I got some bags to finish my little pathway from our paved walkway to my coop. I also got some brick pavers to make a little dust bathing hole for the hens.
Oh, I also got a trellis for my clematis. I keep thinking that she will just decide not to come back every spring so left her to fend for herself. I feel bad that she wants to climb and I did not give her a place to climb to. So she has her trellis. I will have to take pics when I'm done.

I'm going to K&W Greenery to see what they have to give me ideas. I want some hostas for sure. But then again I like Hydragenas. I just don't know!! To many choices....

Well, it's puppy dinner time and they are getting a special dinner. Dad did not eat all of his lunch so they are getting left overs...spoiled rotten dogs....
