Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi folks,

morning break time,,,,don't think we'll get the heat but this wind is nuts. I grew up on a fishing camp resort, never had the wind like we've seen here the last few years.

send some rain east!!!! Once again starting a summer of every storm moving 20 miles west of me,,,agree with Bigz seeds won't germ, had taters in for 3 weeks and no shoots showing yet. Irrigation needs setting up,,,that always insures rain

skeeters never have bothered me but there is an amazing dragon fly hatch the last few days,,,fun to watch the chickens try and catchum,,,heh heh
I will say this to you gals, best to skip the foo foo scented soaps, etc during bug season,,,,,save it for that "special" occasion,,,,might not be bothered as much

ok,,,,back to the grind

Sorry to interupt but>>>>>I found your milk carton trap mazojoe . Where do you put the meat? Not clear on that. It sounds like it is not on the "plate" of the rat trap. And jim did you have some that you put on the wall? For weazels. Seems to me Jim you had a design too.

Late Morning All,
Sorry Kristi I was out in the field with Joan's horse trailer AND my truck getting the last piles of hay up before the fertilizer truck came...Broke out the other air conditioner for upstairs, I have it set pretty high so hopefully it won't do much more than blow air..
Gotta get the chicks fed, and flowers planted.
I will candle Kristi's eggs tonight AND some of mine to see if they are worth keeping in the bator.
I am still waiting for my check, it should either be my last one.. OR next to the last one.. I guess its time to find another job.. Quick!

Found this on the Janesville CL.

Nice!
Tried to weed yesterday but the ground was so hard I broke a shovel so I gave up.

That sounds like something that would happen to me. Trying to buckle down and get something done and then the shovel gets broken on a weed.

What do other folks do about the Mosquitos in their yards while you have chickens? I'd like to fog but don't know if it would poison the fluffer nutters.

RAIMNEL~so sorry you are having so much pain

spring is just the worst time for that stuff to act up. Just when we all have so much to do! Try to let yourself just kick back and take a "me" day.
Us too, on the wind

never seen it this sustained for this long and we've owned our place since 91 ( lived here since "96"). What makes it worse is we keep getting missed by the rain too. We're north central (half way between Antigo and Rhinelander, more or less) and we had a wonderful spring, except for the occasional frost and looks like we could have another one end of next week, but that's normal for us.

They're talking on the tv right now we are looking at 40+ winds later and up 70 mph as the front comes thru. Sounds like it's going to be moving so fast the rain, if we get any, is going to be horizontal! Sorry for the folks to our west, looks like they are in the bull's eye for possible tornadoes.

Oh well, I've already put away any potential projectiles, hubby is right now watering down the straw on the gardens and the generator is already on the back porch and all gassed up and ready to go. Now I just have to get out and tie the tomatoes I put out yesterday to their cages so they don't snap off in the wind.

The big salvation for us is we are backed up to a thick woods on the west and fairly well sheltered from the southwest as well which protects us from the worst of most storms. Good thing because JUST to our southwest are huge potato fields which just smother our poor neighbors in blowing dirt when the winds kick up like this before the crops are up and the farmer hasn't started up his water walkers yet.

oops1 just heard the tractor so hubby is back from the pond with a load of water, better get back to work!

Hot Windy Day here so far. Yep, that was in regards to ruffing it CC....sorry to confuse you.

I use the 100% deet with great results. Derek ( TO'S, OM) had some deet free coleman skeet repellent that seemed to work well at the bash.

Don't know your last name bl4. Could you send it to me? My PM is not working correct for sure.

I moved prolly 15 small trees back in april....I suppose they are close to being fried by now. It's just to hard to haul water for everything that could use some. For those that buy hay, I think it's gonna be awful pricey this year if we don't receive some moisture soon.

In the back, so the weasel has to walk across the plate and is caught. Use fresh meat
