Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Morning everyone. Boy its chilly this morning. Not to much new happening on the chicken front. We are going to butcher a roo this weekend , it will be our first. If all goes well then I have my eye on 4 more roos. I also have my 4 replacement chicks coming in 5 days :) There will be 2 Golden Lakenvelders, 1 Silver Lakenvelder, and 1 White cochin . The Lakenvelders are suppose to be females and the Cochin male. We'll see though, of the 7 sexed chicks I ordered last time 2 died and 2 were sexed wrong.
I need to figure out a different housing againment for Shifu. I need the brooder she's in for the chicks coming, plus she is destroying the bedding. I am having to change it daily. A few minutes ago she managed to somehow knock the bottle off of the quart waterer and just soaked the brooder. Isn't there a waterer I can make for her that won't make a huge water mess? I'll have to search the threads over in the duck section. DH wants be to boot her back outside but now I'm nervous about the cold weather we're having and her not having her feathers in. I guess I'll just keep claiming to forget to do it for now ;) Well I guess thats about it. I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all

It is COLD this morning! 29o when I got up at 5:30. Geesh, that is just a bit chilly for June 1. Oh well, not the first time. I remember clearly one year that we had 2 frosts, then 3 freezes followed by another frost in the first week of June just a couple years ago.
Where is global warming when you need it?

Good morning,,,,chilly in the north another frost night,,,hopefully the last

ok,,had to toss the bait again hey bigz?

IF you ever hunted Texas or have friends there you would know that deer hunting on public land is a farce,,,,of course the Deer Czar if good at managing private game farms,,,,must be he and his "group" have received over $20 million in grants in the past to study the business. The hunters that have done the research do NOT endorse this guy. It's the fact that the DNR doesn't listen to input here from hunters and land owners that is appealing when he says he'll listen,,,,,,,he11 I'd listen to for $250k,,,not a bad gig

Just another example of the far right wanting something else "privatized" the list grows,,,prisons, schools, now hunting land. Yup you don't have to be a liberal to do the research and see where this is headed. When was the last time a Governor declared something regarding game laws? I actually don't remember one instance in my lifetime, of course out state just got sold last year

I needs to get me one of them T-shirts,,,I'll save mine to wear on "indictment day"

better go check the chickens, make sure one of the DNR's creatures hasn't eaten them

Thinkin' one of you might start a different thread for angry politics? Personally prefer to start my morning reading about what my other "Cheeshead chicken ranchers" are up to and maybe I'll turn on Fox or local channels to catch up on the politics later, just sayin'

Good Morning All! I'm tired of talking politics, DNR, bating/not baiting lets move on to religion.

Na lets talk chickens and gardens! Peatwo has been picking feathers out of the top of his wings and some on his chest ever since he moulted. No bugs! Think it's nerves. Here's the ? Bluecoat or sun tan lotion? Have 3 RIR roo's that are absolutely beautiful! One has white ears anyone interested can have them all of pick of the litter. Otherwise

Love all the pics! BBP that hen is soo cute! TO hope you catch that critter! And what a stupid cat sleeping by the side of the road. Was channel surfing and came across that Wildman show. He was saying how skunks weren't afraid of ANYTHING not humans, not dogs, not even cars! That's why you see so many on the road.

Payday today lots of running to do. Slept in so I'm running late!

Morning all!!
Not much going on here! Getting ready to go check the critters and such.

BBP-That is an adorable hen!

TO-Hope you can salvage the incubator. If you can take an after pic! It would be fun to see what you came up with to fix it!

Well, I'd best get going... DH needs to take the truck today and I have a bunch of stuff in the back...

BBP: Is it easier to find a home for a 6 week old LO cockeral or when they are older?
And do you think its pretty safe to say that Peek a Choo is a cockeral?
I am planning on posting on craigslist so I dont get anymore attached if its going to end up a boy.
Even if I decided to keep a LO roo (which Im hesitant to try raising a roo after my last 3-would rather find a "Tommy" like Terri Os that the personality is already known) I think one of the littlest 3 is male.

I dont know what age is easiest to find a home. But you cant just throw a 6 wk old chick in with adult chickens so that may end up being an issue. I'd wait till he was a little older so he can defend himmself and that way you can be 100% sure its a roo.
