Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good morning all. Well I have sat down about 4 times now to try and make a post but I keep getting side tracked lol. I have some silkies for sale again, hoping this time I get someone to actually show up instead of me waisting my weekend like last time. So far only the boy/girl pair has a couple people wanting them, but I told them first come first serve. I also have 3 roosters but of course no one wants them lol. Oh well I guess if I dont sell them we'll find out how they taste.
Today is DD's last day of 4th grade :) Boy am I glad this school year is over. I absolutly dislike one of her teachers, well acturally two of her teachers but I never met the other one so I'm only going by what DD says. My mom is suppose to come next weekend to pick DD up and she'll be gone until August. Its going to be weird, this will be her longest visit out of state to my moms. And in the mean time I have to turn in her Juneau county fair app as well as hope she practices her recipe at my moms. DD wont be back here until a couple days before the fair.
This morning while DD was eating here's what was staring right back at her.

Sorry its blurry, my camera is horrible and I had it zoomed in as far as I could. If you can see it, at the bottom inch of the pic is my garden deer fence lol. Boy am I glad this is what we wake up to instead of the bears and cougars that have been posted on here lol.
Well I guess thats about it for now. I need to make my grocery list and write down the recipes for the brownies and trail mix cookies DD and I are making for our 4-H Brat / bake sale Saturday at our local BP.
I hope everyone has a great day.

Exciting Morning On the Hill....we just chased a adult gray wolf out of the back yard. It was chasing chickens and I was chasing and screaming at him. I was caught outside without a weapon or the results would of been quite different. He was only 30 yards from me and not afraid of me one bit. I know he was all of 100lbs....and more! I have a right to protect my livestock and I will! I can't imagine a small child in the sandbox under the shade tree where it use to be right now. He's prolly drinking out of the waterer in the yard at night....time for the game camera. The war is on!

Again I am so glad I woke up to a deer and not something like a wolf. DH was told by a neighbor a wolf was spotted about a mile from here but we have yet to see it. I sure hope it keeps itself over there. Good luck .

Good Morning all.

WCC so sorry to hear your bad news. Sending thoughts and prayers your way and to their friends and loved ones.

DrHa, no comment about you and your thoughts about bating !!!

Well, $25 later and 7 loads of laundry done at the laundry mat last night kept DH and me out of trouble. We went to FF to get a new axle, wheels and tires for the Pontoon boat trailer and I talked him into going to the laundry mat with me. Made for a late night for him though. Trips to town are never short.
And speaking of trips I'm headed back down to Embarass today to pick up more feed. They ordered duck and goose grower for me and some pig food. Hope DH emptied out the truck for me. The van is full of clean clothes. To tired to carry them all in last night. Nearly killed me to get them out there in the first place.
No more news on the horse. I might go down and try to get a picture of him today so you can all see him.

Put 4 lemon lavender eggs in lockdown yesterday. I think only 2 are viable. The two that looked promising had floating air cells so we shall see.

Can't remember what else I was going to reply to but I do remember I love all the pics !!! I kept 6 chicks from my last hatch. I'll have to get pictures.
Later, most likely from the McD's in Shawno !!!

Has anyone here read "The Chicken Chronicles" by Alice Walker?

Urge Congress to Pass the Humane Egg Bill

Dear Animal Advocates,

The vast majority of egg-producing hens in our country live in miserable and cruel conditions. Thankfully, important legislation has been introduced in Congress to help improve these animals’ lives.

The Egg Products Inspection Act Amendments of 2012 (S. 3239/H.R. 3798) represents a joint effort between the egg industry and animal protection groups to designate realistic and enforceable humane living standards for egg-laying hens. This bill would require the creation of minimum humane standards with respect to cage size, air quality, feed and water, and euthanasia. The ASPCA supports this unique collaboration as a significant step forward for animal welfare.

Most of the nation’s approximately 280 million laying hens are kept in cages that allow each bird a mere 67 square inches of space. Even worse, tens of millions of hens are given just 48 square inches each—at roughly half the size of a sheet of 8.5” x 11” paper, this is not enough room for a bird to spread her wings. Numerous states, businesses, animal welfare advocates, consumer groups, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and even the United Egg Producers, a cooperative that represents the owners of 88% of the nation’s egg-laying hens, agree that it is time to improve basic conditions for these animals.

What You Can Do
Our nation’s egg-laying hens desperately need your support. Please visit the ASPCA Advocacy Center online right now to email your U.S. senators and representative in Washington, D.C., and urge them to cosponsor the Egg Products Inspection Act Amendments.

Thank you, advocates, for taking the time to help America's egg-laying hens.
