Tiki...thanks, I'll give it a go! I've got to head out to the store to get fresh corn seed, mine hasn't come up.

DH is showing middle child (DD) how to mop! I should leave now while everything is good

HaHa-I'm glad that you have some peace and quiet(er). Yea I won't be making a habit out of waking up that early, my hubby gets up that early and I usually sleep through it 75% of the time.
I have no idea how I managed to get anything done without my coffee, but stranger things have happened.
Got the corn planted along with some tomatillos. I also pulled out the peas and discovered a zucchini where I thought seed had failed or had been eaten.

I got a few sprinkles while planting the corn, but then the darn sun came out and it is hotter than it was before the rain! I decided to come inside for a bit!

Hey All!
I just wanted to share something before I have to dash...
A good friend who I house/horse sit for, I have done this for the last 2+ years, She has had to have surgery for torn rotator cuffs, and had a broken or fractured rib...
She had a horse, a gorgeous palamino that apparently has a mystery lameness, the vet just cannot find the cause, but its been there for a few years, AND she
foundered (rotation of a bone in the hoof called the coffin bone) it is excrutiating to a horse for a LONG time...
They donated the mare to a local well known theraputic riding center,, .
they had to return her as she came up lame and the vets were very stumped, several hundred dollars later
she could only be a companion, she will buck due to the pain if ridden for any real length of time.
So they waited to take her up the the Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation, a well known and very much accredited horse rescue, they were on a waiting list to bring her there.
Last Saturday they traveled some 3+ hours to get her there by 11 am (per the MHWF) request/demand.
I love checking out their website and forum...
I found that they are totting Cassie (the mare) as a good reliable trail mount, with no mention about her lameness issue, or her previous founder, or that she has and will buck some one off due to the pain.

PLEASE email or call these people Karen at: [email protected] and Scott at : [email protected]
Or call them 715-884-2215.

I just cannot believe they would do this, I am truly appalled.

Ok, sorry to brag, BUT,

we got another solid 2 hours of gently soaking rain today

The girls weren't happy about it. When I tried to call them outside a couple of them just stuck their heads out the door and gave me the stink eye!

Brats better behave themselves or I won't give them any of the big bucket of dehydrated mealworms I got for $5 (yes, 7 oz. for $5~that is a LOT of dehydrated mealworms) at the sale in Antigo this morning. Wish they would have had more!

TIKI~ I sure hope so too! Crazy birds. But considering the shape they were in I am surprised they manage anything close to normal

. They've all put on weight nicely and finally have shiny feathers and no more dry skin, even the one with chronic gleet, except she still doesn't have her fuzzy butt and probably won't until/if she stops "leaking". Only one has all her tail feathers. The others are at different stages of re-growth which makes them look pretty silly with these little pink things sticking up out of those black feathers in back. Poor babies. If I don't keep them sprayed it gets sun burnt and turns bright red! Then they really look silly! They all know the blu-kote can now and run when they see me coming with it

!

Really looking forward to my first swap meet tomorrow. It's my first time so everyone be nice, ok?

Wedding Done.

I think I am done with my complaining for a while... The girls in the wedding party were hitting on me and looking to "date the cute pastor". My wife was wrangling the kids and not by my side like usual. It was dry until the wedding started and then it got really cold and really rainy. As soon as the ceremony was over it cleared up again. Then it let loose again and dumped for a long time. This was also my first potluck wedding... There was a lot of food from Walmart, potato salad, chips, cole slaw, cup cakes... The important stuff was they got married and are feeling good about their relationship, a whole lot more stability and calm in their lives.

No more weddings planned till August so I am doing really good. Now we just have to plan for camp, VBS, softball, weekly Wednesday BBQs and more.

I am really excited about my coop and the ladies getting ready to lay. I may even keep a lakenvelder roo to breed my own for next year, will have to see how loud they are. I think that is it for now. Talk to you soon.

KEN

PS I am really glad that those of you who need rain got it. Congrats on the growing and feeding of all the animals and the potentials for new starts for a few.

This pair is GDW Phoenix X Blue Wheaton Ameraucana. She lays a blue green egg. He has settled down since I have been handling him a lot. He is 9 months and she is 1 year old. Because my circumstances have changed I am going to have to get rid of these beautiful birds. It was a project of mine to raise a new colored Ameraucana. I am looking for a good home for this pair and I am hoping that some one on here will be able to provide that home. I would love to see this project go on and I just can't bare to kill them. And it is so hard to find good homes. Cheeseheads is the first place for me to go to. I can drive to meet someone within reason. Please PM me. This is breaking my heart.
Someone needs these birds don't they? They are really nice. :)
