Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Cooler morning to All! WOW a lot to address. Not happenin. Sorry! Nice galic Dan! Have been thinking about getting some going the last couple of years. Think next year when I expand the garden AGAIN I'll put some in. Have to look but seems to me you plant in the fall. We go through a lot around here. Doing around 30 dill plants this morning. Going to vac seal them and put them in the fridge. The BFF says they stay green and are good for several months. I love the smell of dill in the morning. Smells like.... pickles. Guess him and his DD fried an egg in the driveway yesterday. I see we're going back to just stupid hot tomorrow. Cind, Krist and everyone be very carefull please. I know of which you speak. Not good! Laura got a clean bill yesterday.

now on to her double hernia. Went and got my hairs cut yesterday while waiting for L. The owner of the shop has a 55 Chevy, the gal asked how I wanted my hair cut. I told just like the white walls on that 55. The owner about spit out his coffee. Better get outside and get chores done.

Morning everyone!
Got half the critter chores done and I'm finishing up my coffee. The chickens are much happier with their new fan!

TO-Good luck at the fair!

Dan-nice garlic!

Jim-Ummm isn't garlic supposed to work on vampires? Not werewolves? Or am I missing something in my lore? LOL!!

Dan~tried loading Avast a while back because I know it's the best out there but it had a serious conflict with some of my other stuff I didn't want to trash so I had to remove it, darn. Now I am just running the AV supplied by my ISP which is pretty good and of course the wonderful window's defender (tongue seriously in cheek). The tech I was dealing with, which was 1. american and 2. actually very good, said my problem most likely came from outside, meaning someone else that had my address in their addressbook. She said some foreign hackers have now learned a way to launch without actually having your password, all they need is your address. didn't know that. lovely. Wow. I am so glad I am no longer in hardware/software tech support/r&d for a college. It was crazy back then (IBM came in and did a study and said there should be 8.5 people doing my job~no wonder I burnt out~never did figure out who the.5 would be) and we thought we were gods because we were alpha testing this new thing called Windows! Back then an I/O error didn't stand for "input/output", well it did, but when we said it, it meant "idiot operator". Boy, the stories.................

.

Oh yeah Dan, let me know if you are interested in trying some German Porceline garlic. Grown it for years and should be harvesting shortly. Always have a few to share. Nice huge bulbs, very reliable producer, almost always have 100% germination. Originally got it from Johnny's but last I checked they didn't have it anymore.

TOMSKI~ yep, garlic powder is definitely worth the trouble. I have 2 big dehydrators. 1 in the house, the other in the workshop just for the garlic so I don't stink up the house!
Correction though, you can braid hardneck garlic, been doing it for years, there's just a trick to it, that's all.

BBP~frontline on chooks? why?

Cindlady~ don't have the wire cage, tried to get eggs from a neighbor who has roos but she doesn't want any chicks and I'm not really set up for them yet either, (catch the yet?

) Definitely considering the cold bath thing but not til this rediculous heat breaks. She goes broody next spring she is definitely going to have something to sit on! Babies for the Wave swap next year!

Rain coming this pm!!!!

good morning,, good news and bad news.. GN It was cool this AM,, BN the tiller wouldn't start so I can't hill the rest of the potatoes.. GN some (17) guineas are hatching,, BN Brian said he didn't bring any eggs ? they are marked "B" for Brian.. GN I will give the keets to Marlene, since none of her eggs hatched..

garlic must work on Werewolves also, since we haven't had a problem with them either..

I have to get the blades back onto the mower,, the grass is growing like there is no tomorrow..
I have been thinking of telling the neighbor girl to stake her horse up here where the grass is so plush.. there is some really nice Timothy in it.. they keep the horse in a corral and I figure by now there is not much grass left in there.. They both work, but I am always here.. I can move the horse and see that he has water,.. That young couple is so careful so as not to impose..

I have to go to F&F and see if I can find some sort of grinder that I can sharpen my mower blades with ,, without having to take them off the deck.. sharpening blades is such a waste of time.. 10 minutes after starting to mow, I usually hit enough stuff to take the edges off anyway..

I inhaled a mosquito this AM.. I would much rather have swallowed it.. I hacked for about ten minutes.. either I finally blew it out, or tore it apart from the hacking,

a guinea met it's demise on the road yesterday.. today the body is gone.. that is one advantage to having predators around..

Nora has taken to chasing cars.. I will have to call my Bro and see if he can find his shocking collar.. I hate to do that to her, but it is better than getting squashed by a semi.. she has never done it in front of me,, but Annie says she does it all the time..

you all have better things to do than to read all this dribble, so I will get out of here and give someone else a chance..

..........jiminwisc............

Good morning! Ah Jim...I love to read your drivel, nothing better to start the morning...seeing what everyone else is up to! I just have to laugh at the "stay cool," "stay inside" comments! I wish it was better inside! I have been leaving the dogs in though...the kennel is in the sun in the afternoon and although it has a sunshade and grape vines on it it still gets way hot! SOme of them are passed out on the floor and a couple on the couch right now...lazy beasts!

BL4 tell you DH that I have TOmmy and Tina in the basement room for now. THey are usually in the tortoise garden with their own little coop but it was way hot for them too! I brought them in and took the 4 "chicks" that were still hanging out in the chick TV and popped them all downstairs. THey are also sharing the room with our one rabbit. He is a little elderly and wasnt eating any more while outside in the heat. It's not much cooler down there but at least it's not sunny!

I need to be off to the fair for judging...still havent done chores. I am feeling pretty darn lazy right now for sure! Better get moving! Terri O

yes Jim, I agree with Terri. Only problem is you are always up to so much you make me feel guilty! However, I did pop out and get all my watering done before the heat and now I can see clouds to the west, yea!

Even if it doesn't rain the clouds should keep us cooler

HEY!!! Anyone interested in growing Starro chives? I have lots of seed to spare & could drop it in an envelope. Difference from other chives is they say you can't freeze, but this you can because it has thicker walls. I just chop & freeze and it's ready for winter baked potatoes or omelets, or soup, or ? Got hold of it years ago and best I know, you can't find it anymore. Prolific reproducer, does well in pots and once established almost impossible to kill short of nuking it and the chooks won't eat it!!! BTW~if you check out my garden pic, that's it just behind my wagon at the end of throwing off it's beautiful purple spring flowers. Just drop me a pm w/ your address .

Taking a break. Have bagged up roughly half of the dill that I picked today. Was kinda figuring as I bagged. Enough for 56 qts so far. Think I'll be matching todays temp b4 I'm done. And there's more in the garden.

No having to pay outrageous prices at the store... this year or next. Jim hope you break Nora of that REAL soon! Squito... better than a dragon fly! Where wolf ? There wolf..
