Ok, Hi!
me again
It's about to rain (sorry) so I'm back in the house with nothing to do so I thought I would harass you folks
I let "Broody butt" out of her cage a little while ago. I know it's a bit early but I had to get the coop cleaned out.
This one is for me
. I was monitoring her to make sure she was eating & drinking BUTI never looked under the cage! As soon as I got her out, I pushed her out the pop hole. She stood on the ramp a minute and looked back then off she went.
I had already let the rest of the ladies out onto the grass and it wasn't long before she took off on a run to join them. She ran right for where I usually place their food in the shade so I picked up the dish and went and filled it for her. WOW! I almost got knocked over from the smell!
She had emptied both her ceca in two HUGE piles and was now in the process of "finishing" the job!
That's when I realized there was nothing under the cage in the coop. DUH! Poor girl. I had focused so hard on making sure something was going in, I never noticed that nothing was coming out! By the size of those "cow pies", one more day and she probably would have exploded!
Now I am going to have to keep a close eye on her. She had stopped laying before I put her in the cage, but I still need to make sure all that "back up" didn't cause any other problems. Well, for obvious reasons, if this didn't work to break her brood I am definitely not putting her back in the cage!
UHOH! there went the satellite signal so here comes the rain! Better go see where the girls are!

Our drive and yard is now pretty flooded but soaking up fast with all this sand. The chickens and ducks seem to be enjoying it. I've got a couple pullets that look like their ready to lay ( or maybe they have been but I havent seen any eggs yet), their squatting when I walk up to them, going in and out of the coop all day ( not normal for them), combs have doubled and reddened. I'm crossing my fingers they lay in the coop versus the woods. Other than that nothing much is going on here. The step-kids go home tomorrow, Carol came by to try to get the van running again but it rained her out, all the kids in the area have been hanging out here, and I think thats about it. lol I've got a couple blossoms on my pumpkins and squash and no flowers on the potatos yet. Well guess I better go, time to clean the kitchen up from dinner. I made homemade Sloppy joes and had canned corned beef hash ( DD's request) . I hope everyone who needs it gets the rain.
