Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Goody Fish Fry Friday To All.... the outside cooker was rockin for awhile tonight....Cind the broccoli with your batter recipe was a huge hit....we used it on left over baked tatoes, refried too....sweet and delish... it's all gone! OMG...onion rings and fish and ho-made frys...delish!

In regards to the broccoli....works best with plants that are well started, spaced 3' apart....I'v grown from seed, but one gives up to much harvest by waiting. I'll be cutting til frost every 3 or 4 days and the harvest begins 4 weeks after setting the plants here. just sayin.

Yep, you girls need a good lesson on shootin and handlin the important tools for culls.....I'm just up the road from camp...perfect place for a lernin lesson on handlin and shootin straight....we will make it happen if you want. Nothing more portant than that! Nothin better than a straight shooetr....mom always said. I believe mom. She hated anything less.

Sorry for the folks in CO....however, it's not the guns fault...the sick person is to blame. Please don't blame the guns. They are useful tools in the right situation.

Good evening folks,

Terri, the manure maggots are what got your radishes. Did you use some un-composted manure? Common in the north when folks use raw manure, also will get your onions,,,

speaking of manure,,,,,(what? a seque to chit?)

I got a new (used) manure spreader today, a Knight 180 pto driven, wayyy to big for the ole 9n, but I won't fill it, main purpose is building and aerating my compost, I try to make 150-200 cu yrds per year, I can now mix the materials while loading this beast, run the unit in place to mix and blow it into a long row. That row will get reloaded and machine turned a few times,,,,let the composting begin!

all roos are now in lockdown except for Joe the BCM flock attendant,,,,plan on butchering the next cool morning,,,,I'll save 1 Birchen Marans, 1 Blue Copper Maran, and debating on an olive egger,,,that will be 10 for the freezer

garden is doing well, the stand is out tomorrow if not for the spreader deal I would have had it all set to go tonight,,,,morning work now

1st day for the 6 and 5 wk old BCM and Blue Wheaton Ameraucana chicks to be out,,,funny keeping an eye on them,,,,the BW went right in with little coxing,,the BCMs were another story,,,

nice score Amy!

Jim,,,I like the good news,,,still a lot of work,,,need to figure out why that shaft stripped

tc folks and stay cool as it heats up again

TerriO, she is a 2-3 year old BO. Still listless, big pupils, floppy pale comb. Seems wobbly moving around. But is eating a little, drinking a little and pooping. We will see. We live for the Happiest Place on Earth ( with 2 six year olds, so that is debatable) in a few days. Hoping she perks up so she is not a problem for the chicken sitter...

on a side note, my little clean legged, frizzle cochin has gone broody. sigh... dont want her to overheat while I am gone... silly bird. She is small so keeps trying to shove them all under her and she looks goofy. oh well.
On the other side of the coop, my last broody has given up her chicks officially. She went up to roost tonight rather than sit on coop floor with her 2 chicks. They were peeping like mad at her. Did not like that one bit.

I would love that! Been hinting to DH about taking a CC class (no no, not Robyn
tongue.png
) or going shooting with FIL who is a big hunter. I did get that coon right in the head, but I've been told they have really thick skulls. We both wanted it to be dead quick. No suffering.

Totally agree on that last bit too Bigz!

I have shot a pellet gun 2x..... excellent aim. If I ever have the desire to learn all I need to do is walk out to my DH shooting range in the garage. He has been teaching the kids for a few years.

BigZ, the best comment I saw on the whole CO tragedy was this: If our population was armed, we would not hear of scores of people getting killed. The nut jobs who come up with these plans would never consider taking on a group of people holed up in an enclosed space if there was the possibility of getting shot by a few of those people. The example that was given said it would be like walking into a Police station and attempting the same thing: not going to happen.
And you are correct.... you cannot blame the guns, it is the person pulling the trigger.

It was duck moving day today...... my backyard looks so empty, and quiet. I told my in-laws the details of our animal ordinance..... and that I am getting Emus next week

Ok early day tomorrow.... later all!

I think MLH might be able to help you out with them. Didn't she want to hatch some out a while back?

Good one, Amy!

Latest update on DH.
I decided today that I was not going to wait to hear from them regarding the broncoscopy and wait for the appointments with the cardiologist and pulmonologist that they scheduled for mid to late August !!!
I called the pulms office and voiced my concerns about it and also the fact that the pulm appointment was with his PA and not him. I also wanted to know if there were any results yet.
She said a nurse would call me back.

Well, a nurse didn't call back. The Doctor himself did and he said he was very concerned and had just spoken with the cardiology department.
He said the DH does indeed have Sarcoidosis in his lungs and he may also have cardia sarcoids. He said that they would be calling me shortly to reschedule his appoinment and would also be scheduling some more tests.
They did call and he is going in for an MRI on his heart on Monday and back to see the Electrophysiologist at 7:40am on Tuesday.

He said this is a big deal and he needs the heart doctors to see him before he starts treatment so any tests they run won't give false neg results.
I asked what the treatment of choice would be and he said Methotrexate (sp) and Prednisone and for probably NO LESS then TWO Years !!!!

He also said if DH experiences any cardiac symptoms at all that he should go straight to Wausau Aspirus........ Do not go any place else......and that I should tell them that he has Cardiac Sarcoid and give them his name.

Said this is a big deal and serious stuff. Cardiac Sarcoid is very rare I guess. He said this has been going on for quite some time and that it develops slowly in the heart.
TG we went to Wausau and found this guy.
The good news in all of this is that it is not caused by our birds or chickens..... They do not know what causes it.

Ok, that's it for now. I'm beat. Long day with calling and waiting etc. We went to a local bar in Pelican Lake for FFF and it was the best we've ever had there. Makes me want more...NOW !!! lol

Here are a few links to what DH has for inquiring minds.

Hi all!

Amy.... nice job on getting that %&^$ coon! Pizza party for the chickies! LOL

vicki.... I would like some of those "sausage seeds" too if you have any to spare... lol

Jim... hope you get that pump issue taken care of without too many $$$$!

BigZ... You can try that batter with green beans too, Or any veggie of your choosing!...I even make fish nuggets with it. It's so light it doesn't over power but you can still add more zip if you want. I've added onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, spike or Oriental 5 spice depending on my mood. I think it makes the best onion rings! Glad you tried it!

I wouldn't mind some shootin' pointer either, it's been years! I just need to find the right bang bang now! With my short arms I need a kid size.

unk... have fun with your sh!t shredder!

FT... wow.... I think we were all hoping it was better news! But then, I guess it could have been allot worse. Hoping the best for you both and keep us informed!

As far as the shooting goes... I agree with Big Z you can't blame the guns. If someone really wants to take out a bunch of people, they will find a way! He could have set bomb or something.

DH got an estimate of $1200 that I guess will go with. Don't know when they can get to us though.

Guess that's it.... night!

Good morning,

possible storms today, could use the rain, beats irrigation everytime

FT good to have a diagnosis, hope things work out. The Aspirus group saved my life four yrs ago, nothing but good things to say about them

not sure I agree that the public needs "assault" rifles,,,,the name says it all,,,,the guy was a nutcase but would the numbers have been this high with a less aggressive firearm? just sayin,,,,,,,,CO has a carry law,,,,guess that didn't deter this time

need to get movin here,,,,bbl

Morning everyone!

Wow! I hope this one posts. Haven't been able to put anything up since my dinner pic. Maybe the censors got me for the Andoulle "plants"
gig.gif
I would share seeds with everyone but they were grown from cuttings
wink.png

FT~your hubby is so fortunate to have you! Not everyone will stand up against the medical "machinery" and get answers. Good for you! Well, it wasn't great news but it might have been worse.
hugs.gif
At least now you know what you are dealing with and that it's treatable and can move forward. I get the feeling you are the kind of gal that can face any kind of devil as long as you know what it's face looks like
love.gif
. Hope you don't mind my putting you on my prayer list

Unkadan~wow, you are one busy guy! Hope you have time to stop and smell the manure!

KristiP~keep us posted on your BO's progress (hopefully). Really curious to know if it really is deficiency/dehydration thing.

CL~wish I would have paid attention sooner to your location (sorry). My hubby's whole side of the fam is in the well drilling/repair biz. they work for the uncle that's owned the company forever and their workload is slow right now.

REQUEST~ ok, sooooo, can you all stop talking about all the yummy deep fried stuff
droolin.gif
? I love deep fried stuff but for me it's a no-no!

Well, got to get dressed and get outside before the rain hits, again. Snuck out in my jammies to let the girls out earlier. I think Crockpot is teaching the rest of girls her tricks because when I opened the "people" door on the coop to grab their food dish to put out in the run, they were all right there (except broody butt of course) and tried to make a break out into the garden! NOT til after you make me breakfast girls!
lau.gif

I would really gladly share some rain with you folks further south! I can't keep up with my gardens and the skeeters, which we almost never have, are so thick and hungry you have to go outside armed!
