vicki I have a small hopper feeder at each coop for oyster shell, I also add some to the layer crumbles no problem with shell thickness,,,get a thin shell occasionally (started doing this with the crumbles I now use, lower Ca than the mash I had been getting from the mill)
bought some corn at a farm today on my road trip,,,really nice ears of bi-colored but very little sweet,,,,plan on finding out if they switched varities or what they think made the difference this year
think I'll sautee some sweet red pepper, onions, garlic and add that corn for dinner,,,along with a nice thick smoked pork chop
the chickens loved the ends and cobs
also bought a Nutrena scratch block at FF,,,,seems like those would make great busy toys for in the coops this winter
