Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

WHEW! All caught up! Bigfam the parade you speak of sounds like the "junk parade" here every Labor day...goes from one town to another and all are welcome to make a junk float. I think everything is then donated to the scrapyard for a charity. I guess it is hilarious--but I have yet to attend.

I had much to comment on but I think I shall head out to enjoy the full moon and lie on the trampoline! An early morning ride sounds fantastic GhostR! I will join you in spirit OK?

Nighties...Terri O

ETA: I was NOT at the game although I DID watch it on TV.....with my client who claimed to see both his wife AND his son in the crowd...they were right behind the goal post so I guess he just might have...

O no TO. This is a legit parade! I just really want a chicken cheesehead representation! And I finally figured out what Bigz and Unk would be dressed in for the parade: sequined jumpsuits with feathered hats made with chicken feathers! Oh yes... That would be fanfreakingtastic!

And Jim... Today was a late day to run at 6:15/6:30. Normally if I'm going running in the morning I have to be up and moving by 5:45 am to get it done by the time hubby leaves for work. It stinks... :p

TO I think we have different plants! Grabbed a couple pics from the 'net.
Here is what the plant looks like. These things sprawl 2 feet in all directions.

Here is the ripe fruit, 1/2 - 1 inch across, wrapped up in those papery husks. You have to wait till it falls off on it's own or it's not ripe. They are really sweet and fruity tasting. The kids love 'em, Cartman downed at least a dozen before supper tonight.

Hmmm they look like tomatillos.. (sp?)

Well I have become a chicken enabler again.. and a pigeon one too...
I'm going to head over to the Mini Bash to see who all is coming and what is being brought. I will put in to see if I can get the day off.

Also I found these and thought some one could use them.

Hi all!

Amy... Prettyboy and George were the 2 Ameraucana roos I used and they are fine looking young men now The hens were all kinds but the kids I kept are turning out very nice and very interesting! Some of the cockerels I'm going to hate to do in because they are so pretty!

GR... The meat in that recipe sounds fine to me, but where would you get the meat scraps? Guess the mill would know, I'm sure it's used in other products.Yep, some big chicken Co. (can't remember which one) is saying their chickens are feed an all natural diet with no meat or meat byproducts and feed marigolds. Ummmm...yea. Well, I guess when you sell to a public that doesn't know better, pretty is more important that true long term health. But then, they only live a few weeks so...

I can taste in the eggs when my girls don't get enough "bugs".

Jim... That was either a very cute seen with all those curious feathered friends..... or a seen from "The Birds"!

Vicki.... You might try putting Soup in lock down for a week or so. This may drop her in pecking order. I had a little Beoch too. she's fine now that I have roos. We wrap our meat in double freezer paper. I've had it last a few years like that.

TO... here's a pic of the flower...

do yours get the paper "lantern" ? Your leaves look narrow.
Yep, when we were looking for a house, one thing we looked for was space "just in case" someone had to come back. Now days you just can't count on anyone (including ourselves) being able to make it on their own. Things can change at the drop of a hat!

kristi... congrats on the new additions!

WCc... those "coops" look like a great deal! Wish I had the money now and a way to move 'em.... I need more space!

Well, last I saw the guinea hen still had 4 left. The ones the hen raised are getting more independent. They have been flying to places mom can't! Then she calls for them and they come down but I'm sure soon they will ignore her calls.
I may have to that Isis and Moses into Racine or Kenosha to get a decent price on spay and neutering. I'll have to call for prices though, neither one lists a price. That place in Madison sounds like a real good deal! But, too far to go.

Well, time to go nigh, nigh...CUlater!

good am, I can't believe nobody is awake yet..

nothing new here..

coffee is ready, so I think I will go sit outside and have a cuppa..

Good Cool Morning All! Thought it was opening of fall turkey with some shots fired this morning then thought it was too many shots. Guess it's dove season. Jim you better watch your pockets think that goose could smell where the money was. With the rebuild I do mean was. Cind hope you can find a deal on the neutering. GR65 glad to hear your dog is feeling better! Must be the love. Kristip sounds like your liking your new additions! So TO is does this 23yr old have any ambition? Hmmm. And don't eat the whole plant! Bigz our broc didn't form heads until the second growth. Think all the heat affected them. Vic when I read your posts it's like I wrote them. So many parallels. I just hate ripping out things that are still producing. Seems like such a waste. Dan your comment on colors at night made me wonder what kind of mushrooms your growing? Hope you found someone downtown to straighten out!

Got some red peppers and broc in the freezer yesterday. A lot more peppers out there but still grn. Kind of perplexed on my straw situation. The guy I get it from only has busted bales from last year I could put it the apartment in the coop but Donny wants me to take 2 of his hens and was going to put them in there for a couple of weeks. I really could use another building. Like a 120x60. The kids are still giving us 3-5 eggs a day which is more than we use so that's a good thing but would like to get more for Friends and fam. Now I'm hungry. I got the weeds evened out in the yard yesterday, looks a lot better. Guess it's time for b'fast.

Morning all! We're cold this morning!!! 40o @ 7 a.m. BUT no hard frost in August, yea!

Jim~nope, you weren't first awake, it just took me forever to get caught up on the reading first! Bigz & Drh~Thanks for the freezer tips. what happened to my venison was I use a vacuum sealer and the seal broke/wasn't good as I thought? on a couple packages that just happened to be at the bottom of the freezer and I didn't catch it in time. Think I might double bag the big stuff this year. Especially if we manage to get more than one deer

. WCC~I soooooooooo wish those sheds were closer!!! I am so in need of more storage for bedding and some kind of a separate coop building for kids, isolation, etc. and those would be perfect! Darn
duc.gif
. BTW~ think you are right, those look like Tomatillos. BGIZ~Isolation for my brat? Hmmmm, hadn't thought of that. Have to see if I can come up with a way to do that. Had to return the cage I was using for Broody Butt and Noodle. I REALLY NEED ANOTHER COOP!!!!!! yoohoo, hubby sweetie, I know I said all I needed was your hunting shack for a coop, but honey

hehehehe. Maybe I better wait until after he wires the current one this week.

Now I need to get the water boiling so I can get the maters that are all over my kitchen processed.

Good morning! These ground cherries...the flowers are the same and the leaves are more narrow...the fruits are the same but the size of peas. I think what I have is a ground cherry but the wild variety. They dont dry up and fall off though...maybe they are getting eaten before that say by...chickens? The one that I ate just tasted green...not sweet--not tart. I always think they should get so much larger in that husk like the tomatillos do...have some of them in the fridge for the best soup EVER! The year I grew them I had so many there was not a chance that I could use them all! This year I couldnt find any plants for sale...might try and save some seeds from these for next year...
My son is all moved back in...OMG he has a lot of stuff! His room is bursting at the seams. He says he is clearing it out some today cause the couch was not comfortable last night...DUH, why do you think I picked THAT particular couch? Funny AMy and Julie said it was fine...LOL!

We are heading to Watertown to pic up a hay rack today. I guess somebody from DH's work wants to get rid of it...I hope it is worth it...we really dont need any more junk!
I want to stop at F&F too...I got a call and totally missed the end of the the mill's day! I am going to be out of food before Tuesday for sure!

Guess I better go and get dressed...need to make more coffee too...only got 1 cup today...have a good one! TerriOsadtohavetofeedF&Ffoodfortheweekend
