Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

So tired, but wake up every couple of hours to cough up a lung. (didn't realize I had so many ;) ). I'm also sitting here with a tissue twisted a bit and stuffed in my nostril, since it won't stop dripping (I needs me a plumber?). To top it off my whole face and jaw hurt so I just sleep in spurts...

I went to DEforest and borrowed a big suitcase. , I have yet to pack one thing. This flipping cold, it's just a cold, but I can't seem to push through it to get much done. I'm normally healthy, so it's very frustrating right now.

Bl4... Scary in common too. I would have done the exact same thing with the letter! In fact I would post it on Facebook as well for anyone to see. I'm rather... Ummm... INTERESTING to deal with wen angry. I totally understand the bitter part (its how I get When I'm hurt). The bigger the hurt, the bigger the insult, the more bitter and nasty I can get. Oh, and CREATIVE...:D

I was just thinking how CC was being nice to ME out of pity. I'll take it when I can get it!

I'm thinking about the chicken soup I'll make for teachers and then can. I want to get going on it, but it will have to wait until after the trip. Then it's not long and its the mini bash! So I'll need to putt around outside picking up all the stuff the kids leave laying around, fix the bubble dome on the play set, and wash some poop off the coop walls. I'd hate for CC to come over, look in my coop and say "See? I told you so!" ;) I guess soup may be waiting a while. But I also have to get going on my applesauce too. So that is looming on the project list...

Ok... Fading fast... Have to sleep...

Ok... Fading fast

Hi All,

Just me again, looking for advice as usual. I have built our classroom "bator" (based on MissPrissy's design) and have a hydrometer and thermometer sandwiched between two water bags and sealed in a third bag to simulate the inside of the egg. Should I be using the reading in this hydrometer or the one inside the incubator not between the water bags?

The difference in humidity between the two is significant (72% inside the bag, 56% in the incubator) I realize these are both too high but am wondering which one I should calibrate to be between 40-50%?

Thanks for any advice in advance,

Good morning!

CC: I realize she was shivering LOL I was just very intrigued with this unique wave or oscillating of her chest muscles. Curious how this comes into play when setting or hatching chicks and what effect it has.

I have 2 more days until I have to say good bye to one of my cockerals :-( I am so glad he is going to a great home though! These boys are all around 5 months and so far-sweetest/non aggressive things ever! At what age do they usually show aggression if they ever will? 2 of the 3 are crowing and 1 has been mounting the hens..so I would think they would have shown some signs of aggression if they were going to-right? Trying to remember back to my roo's last year, and when they started acting out.

Orpingtons are pretty docile if they aren't being picked on by other roosters. They may never show any aggression towards you. They will establish dominance within the flock though. If I didn't have so may I would take that mottled one off your hands. He is SO unique!
Hey everyone, I am having a contest to name my new little paint filly. Whoever suggests the winning name gets mailed a bag of Kaytee mealworms. So far the name Sonora (sunny for short) has really got my attention. Any suggestions from you guys? I want something not too cute (like princess), not too long, and maybe with a western sound. My first choice was Shiloh, but I have a friend with a horse named that and I don't want to copy.

Good AM, DrH we do our best thinking in bed, don't we?

I am thinking of putting a conduit for the wires that have to go into the dash board.. makes more sense than taping them into a wire harness.. then if I have trouble with one or t'other, I can just pull it out to work on it...

decided to add a light switch to the conglomeration..

How does "cruise control" sound for the Oliver ?? and power windows ??

I found a dead white guinea on the driveway this AM.. not torn up or anything,,,,,,,just dead ??

I also found the recycle bin scattered around.. wind ?? coon ?? IDK

Dan, what day is the Portage trip ??

If I can talk Adam into not coming this weekend, I could ride along..

Adam,, this weekend does not look like a good bike riding weekend.. should we shoot for the next one ?? All in all I think it would be less hectic ...

Today we are going for a ride to take Ken to see some folks.. so not much wiring will get done on the Oliver.. Sh!t

Morning all,
Yes Jim this weekend just will not work for us, besides yucky weather Adams Finger is so sore and swollen, I highly doubt he would even be able to do much with his hands, and I think it would be a bit hard to use his feet LOL..........
So go have fun in Portage and pray for a nice weekend the following one....
Adam has been so worried about getting that tractor done before the weather gets awful, that he isn't thinking straight these daays....... hehehe.... so he could use a weekend of rest anyway with that finger.
Speaking of that finger, The Dr.s office just called wouldn't give me the test results so now I have to wait for Adam to call them, then call me back b4 I know anything, stupid people, I'm his wife good grief what do they think I might do with the info........ steal his identity or something.. or not tell him what they said.. and let him die or something... this kinda crap is so dam stupid, ya have to sign a waiver these days to pee.......grumble ......GRRRRRRrrrrr
anyway gonna go call Adam and leave a message....... Later all. Kim

How about Spotty?

Sorry to hear about your hen! Not so much for the bin. I like to run wires through plastic hoses to avoid shorts. Didn't get as much done this morning as planned but then again I never do, think that's what keeps me going. The battery on the Case was low this morning seems like about every 6 months I have to charge it. Think it doesn't get run long enough to do a good charge or the alternator is shot. So no wood from out back but did some from around the yard with the Fjord. Starting to get a nice pile for splitting soon. Thinkin a hunk of meatloaf would taste pretty good about now. Yum Yum give me some!

Hi all! I haven't been on here enough to have made friends, but I had an experience that I really need to share in hopes that others will not have to go through it!
This spring we decided that we were going to add a few laying hens to our farm. I had been researching chickens, coops, and all that goes with that for MONTHS! I found a guy in Middleton that builds coops and was really excited to meet him and talk to him about my ideas. He was very pleasant to work with, interested in my ideas and was willing to build me the coop that I wanted. My family and I spent a total of 6 hours at his workshop before we got all the details worked out - with plenty of time looking at and chasing chickens! I loved the experience. He started work on the coop, saying it would take 10-14 days for him to be done. So I ordered my started birds with that in mind. The coop took over three weeks to get done and the run wasn't ready when the coop was, so he sent us home with one of his runs, promising delivery of the run we ordered in a week. Two months, several e-mails and a leaking coop later, he stopped out to deliver the (wrong) run and take a look at what we were having trouble with on the coop. He admitted to using sub-par materials on parts of the coop, that the roof was in need of an overhang, and that the nest box needed re-roofing as well. The poop drawer needed a bit of re-fitting to slide better. He made plans with us to be back Thursday or Friday of that week to make the fixes and deliver the correct run. That was more than a month ago - pushing two months, actually. Now, we're quickly approaching winter and I'd really like to get things shored up! I've tried contacting him and he has not responded at all. I told him that if I didn't hear from him I would flag him on Craig's List and let my friends on the chicken forums know about his (lack of) customer service. So, there it is; a warning, and a bit of advice - check references. It seriously never crossed my mind, and I know better. His name is Jeff Jicinsky and has a shop in Middleton.

Sorry to interrupt your flow of lovely, chatty posts with this.
