Yes I did CC, I found that poster and posted it on my FB page for Wega BYP. I have been having many discussions with Tyler about this.... he has been quite helpful. I hope I can help him out as much when the city he lives in is asked to allow chickens..... I think I sent him a ton of links as well.....

The group in Appleton has been a big help too, they posted Tyler's newsletter on their website.

bf4me, as I used to tell my daughters,, You do not have an inferiority complex,, you really are inferior..

for dinner,I had a chopped steak smothered with onions.. It was good at the time, but is talking back to me right now..

I took a sample from each of the 5 batches of blackberry wine I am making.. It is not real fruity, as I thought it would be.. I even added extra berries.. but it has a kick !! a bit dry also,.. I like a sort of dry wine, but not this dry.. good news is, I can fix it..last winter I took some real nasty wine and blended it with some sweet wine and and simple syrup, and it turned out ok..

CC... Great article and links! Where did YOU find the poster? I think one of the downfalls of people excepting BYP is some people have seen pictures and heard stories of the big commercial operations and think that's how it would be in a backyard! As dirty as any of our coops have gotten, I'm sure they were still cleaner than any of those!

Well, it was another busy day. Put an "extension" on the temp. turkey pen so at least they have a little more room while I work on converting the other coop. Poor Ozzy.... He was born and raised in that coop and even though I had the door open all day.... he will not come out. Not to mention that when all his roostmates left.... they never came back! Guess I'll have to work with him. I just hope he doesn't fight with the other roos... he's the biggest one I have right now. Also been working on my White Elephant gift. The 6 little fuzzy ones are fine... the keet and the chick are getting along better now and the other critters are chillin'. I'm going to make the chicken mash and get to bed!

Gotta hit the road early this AM. The Bakery that I like to get the boys doughnuts from is CLOSING! Today is their last day, so I will be buying a lot of goodies.

Covered the toms last night, I hope they made it. My MIL said that you should not eat tomatoes from a frozen tomato plant..... my question is why not?

Time to refill the coffee and fly.....

Good morning! I am running out the door too. I couldnt believe that I was FIRST this morning...then BL4 popped in! I always have to read first though...so chores are done and I am off to that client. I hope he is gone for the day...I didnt get my carry permit yet! LOL! As if!

Mel, it used to be a myth that tomatoes were poisonous.. heard of anybody keeling over from eating tomatoes lately ? tomatoes from a frozen plant usually rot almost immediately.. therefore I wouldn't eat one.. ask your MIL for more details..

Morning all

Prayer answered. Looks like Stirfry settled in for the night and never woke up, thank you Lord. Blessing in disguise really. I knew she would never survive the winter because even when she was otherwise doing well, she didn't handle the cold well. She never got her tummy and butt feathers back and even tho I upped the protein and everyone else is re-growing well in that department, she never did. she ate well (until the last 36 hrs.) and had decent weight, just never stopped "leaking", then the first internal break. Bounced back from that one within 48 hrs even tho the first night I was sure she wouldn't wake the next morning. she just couldn't recover from this last episode tho. RIP sweet hen.

update~my sweet hubby just volunteered and went out and took care of Stirfry for me. I intended to do it as soon as Soup was off the nest (she had curled up under the ramp to the roost and the roost is built on the top of the nest boxes). Now,,when everybody is done laying, I'll go out and attack the coop with Oxine, just to be absolutely safe since I am fairly confident I know why/how she died but............................

OHHHhhhh Vicki so sorry about Stirfry, though a blessing in disguise, it is never easy, your post just reminded me of my my losses the month and I'm crying with ya GF............. Never had such a rotten Sept, it is usually my favorite month, harvesting and enjoying the colors coming in,
Well maybe Oct. will be better, cuz November is never a good one for me either, since 2009 when I lost my Old Horse Shadow, and my Dad 10 days later, seems I am always depressed in Nov.......... it doesn't help that I know for sure the nasty Freezing weather is inevitable now.........


Jim..........Hope you can fix your Wine, I know you worked hard to make it, it would totally suck to have undrinkable stuff.............. also wondering about this weekend, Is this Annies weekend to work? and if Adam comes up he will have to come alone, because I am still critter sitting, the boy will be gone to Homecoming and dance, so I have no critter sitter even if Sue's sister shows up for the weekend, to watch her flocks and horses............ because Sue is my standby critter sitter when I go away, so Guess I will process whats left of my garden, tomatoes are still looking good just green, but the frost has killed off almost all the foliage now, so one more night of frost and I will have to cover them if I want more........... I have beets, carrots and Rudabagas to pick, and should get the rest of the kale and swiss chard out for the chickens.......... hummmmmm maybe some squash too they are hungry chickens.....LOL

BL4, I hope them posters and links help in your struggle, even my oldest son is against chickens, he won't eat my eggs or my meat, if it's chicken, don't understand it, but apparently only my chickens eat feathers, crap and shoot eggs out there butts, commercial chickens must do it some other way.. so they are ok to eat or have eggs from.........LOL He is coming around a little he said last week my chickens were great entertainment. !!!! Tyler should be a great help with your plans, he is a stand up guy, and has some nice chickens as well, I got all of mine from PP.......... and he stood behind my order, and fixed everything............this year I am very pleased with my 10 EE's 3 pullets are laying already at 20 weeks and 3 blue eggs so far, and they came with a nice mix of colors, plus of course the dreaded extra chicken, a Roo of course...........hehehe

TerriO.....that Ladies son is scary, and I would at least carry pepper spray if I have to go back to that house............


Nothing much new here been doing canning, and playing with puppies, they are finally touching noses with the horses, and trying to flip over the cats, no accidents in the house lately and Bear has learned to start whining when he needs out........... they are still digging me a hole to fill 3 times a day though............LOL they have 6 toys/bones/rawhide's, but prefer to dig, silly pups.
So anyway I'm out for now gotta go make a tattoo design for my son, he wants bats, of all things I'll post it for ya all to see when i get it done., not sure how I'm gonna make bats look cool, Ewwwwww rats with wings..... later everyone, have a wonderful fall day..................Kim
