Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good aftPM, I was up and at em this AM,, speaking of Adam, I took the carb in to show it to Ron.. He said to leave it with him until tomorrow.. he is going to send it through his parts steamer and then rod out the orifices.. He thinks the Oliver should run.. He also doesn't like the red sh!t sealer, nor using starting fluid ..

I caught 5 more roosters last night.. and Annie caught a couple this AM.. there are at least 30 to be butchered in that pen , now.. It sure will get quiet around here after this weekend.. I have to pick out one barred rock and one Delaware to keep.. I have my eye on a couple already.. Nice big guys, and well marked..

I tried the ground cherry jam, Kim.. it tasted like peach,, or pear,, or apple mixed..Gramma liked it also..

I have to find a place to plant the seeds.. do I break open the cherries and scatter the seeds, or just plant the whole cherry ? from what I have gleaned from here, the cherry just has to hit the ground and it will grow..

-got some searching to do..

Tough Day here on the hill today....we planned on finishing the coop staining and were gonna be outside all day today so...left the flocks out at 11am and was doing chores in the first coop when the special squawk's started....I jump outside the coop and there a mere 20ft away the adult Bobcat has one of the hens, this is a big cat.....I'm yelling and chasing while she drops the flopping hen.....I persue farther after her when i see another Bobcat waiting in the shadows....you never delt with brazen til you deal with these cats......

We bring the radio out and crank the country toons while we stain the coop...guns nearby...very near....later around 3pm.....me and suzie still working on the coop....hear those rooster cries again....to the front of the house I go with gun in tote.....another pile of feathers and this hen was literally grabbed off the sidewalk by the front door......followed the feathers again to my light brahama flopping in the woods.....i must of scared the cat off....you don't want Bobcats near your flock for sure.

The flock was guarded by us till they went in the coops....a radio, or talking loud won't deter their mission for a meal. Real killers at their best.

Call the DNR...I'm on a mission....they say call the local warden.....sure no answer...you would think voice mail would be a option...nope.....call the other county warden in charge of these cases...on vacation for another week.... it's Brent in charge now! Permit my *****

I won't feel better til I'm even now.... they killed 3 in two days with guns drawn.

Sorry for being upset...kinda like being robbed someway.

Nice place judge...you should be proud...I know you are.

good early PM, WOW !!! and all along I thought it was a fox.. those wardens prolly won't call you back.. but you can bet your sweet arsh they will be close by.. My neighbor once told me that he ran into our local (loco ?) warden down by the river in my woods.. He said he was watching me because I was supposedly shooting deer out of season.. No such thing ever happened, but at least while he was watching me, he wasn't harassing somebody else..

If you happen to have a good encounter with one of those cats, I wouldn't mention it on this forum or any other public place.. just saying... S>S>S......shoot, shovel, shut up..

gotta go get some supper for gramma.. bbl ,,,,,,,,jiminalaidbackmood........

Wow Bigzio!!! How scary and sad! I have been lucky so far (knock on wood) but the stories lately make me nervous about leaving mine out free ranging!!! Did either of the hens survice? Im assuming not. Sorry for your loss and hving to deal with this. Do you have dogs around? Would they take the dogs on?

Wow Bigz!!! We've had big cats in the neighborhood from time to time but NEVER had anything like that happen!!! I don't recall ever even seeing a bobcat in the daylight around here. Of course we are practically up to our ears in yotes and the occasional wolf and cougar so maybe that's it. I don't let my ladies out of the gardens but my neighbor (just on the other side of our south property line not more then a city block and a half or so from our house) has hers wandering all over and never had any kind of cat attack tho last year (?) she lost a couple to a weasel til they figured out what was going on and her other half "helped" it stop popping the heads off the chooks. Now that I think about it, it is strange that she has not had any large predator problems (other than the bear that "visits" us both every spring) even tho her flock has a good "boss" roo that keeps everybody pretty close to home but they also have a goose that squaks almost constantly which I would think is like "here I am!!! come eat me!" and the chooks and the ducks too! Anyway, so sorry for your hens and I understand what you mean about feeling "violated".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I wish you good hunting and a straight aim! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good evening...ooooh Dan--you've got B*****! What did you ever do about your bears? Did they go away on their own or did you have to help? I hope they just moved on...
Long day today--good thing the "psycho" son was on hand today because my guy started to fall back and he caught him. We averted a terrible situation. Of course it wouldnt have happened if he would have stood where I TOLD him to stand! ANyhow--it worked out just fine and we didnt have to call 911. (thank the Good Lord)
Tomorrow I am heading to Lapham Peak to ride. Commander's first longish ride after his lameness. Wish us luck; I hope he will be fine. I dont want to trailer him a long time with his foot as it is; though I hope it is fine now....
OK--I am trying to wind down so I can sleep....not a great night last night. I guess I need to read longer before I turn out the light! Going to try some stupid TV tonight.
Good night all! Sweet dreams. TerriOhopingtosleepwelltonight
Brent that just sucks! I'm super sorry for you guys. Man, all brahmas too? I just can't believe the cats are in a pair and that ballsy. Incredible! I hope you take Jim's advice SSS.
