Rainy cuttin up day here....don't understand how folks can process deer in a couple hours. Takes us a good long particular time, longer than most...I'm eatin and sharing the best red meat....in my opinion.

Sounds like a good saw Doc. The one hand work is so much a part of not wastin and providing the kindle without a chop.... I hate not having the small good stuff part of the pile....LOL!

Congrats BigZ on that buck at 1 of us will have meat in the freezer, I didn't buy my Tags this year no where to hunt, besides public hunting land and frankly I'm alittle sick of seeing nothing except flying bullets, dumb arses almost took Adams head off a couple years back, around here is 9 deer and 99 hunters in 11 acres........... so hopefully I will find somewhere to go b4 gun deer.

David, your little hens will be quite happy here after they integrate, my girls free range during the day, Adam always says the kids are all over the yard.....LOL and the dogs are out plus we are almost always around. We have predators galore out here, but have not yet lost 1 chicken. I think it helps my neighbor has a ton of loose chickens Guinies, ducks, turkey's, and turkey ducks, so they really don't need mine, her dog rarely even barks if something is around...... mine however almost kill themselves to get it, yesterday a skunk or coon was around while we went to town and Gidget pulled her run right outa the house to chase it, no dead critter this time but missing no chickens last night.... the boys also bark there heads off if anything is out there, I hear them, get the 22 and the big flash light n out I go......... usually the light is enough to scare it off. My dogs have killed several coons, skunks, and possums over the last 12 years......... Gidget even kills moles and mice........ I have good dogs they don't go after my chickens, but anything else is fair game to them........I do miss my white shepard, though she even went after a bear, silly dog, and lived to tell the tale.
Also about them crooked insurance people, just switch they are so ridiculous with the dog thing when I was looking around for a new company, one guy came out to meet my dogs, a Pitbul, mastif cross 14 years old with cancer who would never or had never bitten anything but squirrels, coons ect........ the kids ride her well use too and they just down right refused to even give me a quote until she died....... another 1 hated my white Shepard, and wanted me to get rid of her, LOl I got rid of them instead.....stupid ppl, I have had dogs all my life never had 1 bite anyone, because my dogs are taught =from pups humans are off limits, children can pull there tails, put their hands in the ears eyes, walk on them and they will just sit there and take it or move away from a little one who is being too rough..... if they can not be trained to behave, they can be trained very well for something else, like the pound or vets for a sleepy time shot......

anyway, I think Adam will start his new job, Monday or Tuesday, they wanted to pee test him already yesterday, but he wanted to take in a couple other applications closer to home, but not really much interest at the other places, so there loss........ Adam is a great worker and great driver, nothing on his record, for over 15 years...... he was born to drive......... and can drive anything with wheels..... so up theirs I guess he will go to Straight Shots Monday..... and make 14 bucks an hour 24 hours a day while he goes out, that a good starting pay and he already knows a guy to run teams with, so he will make even more then.........and be home more.........
Not sure when we are getting these chickens butchered though... I was hoping we could be done b4 he starts the new job........ but hopefully he will home after a couple days and maybe we get to Jims then.......... So anyway ppl, I'm gonna go catch up my other threads...... BBL.......Kim

Thanks for the mention Doc, Mellie, and Kim. I did drop down to the 10k.. Just wasn't feeling well. You know you're not feeling good when you're dripping sweat and you're just standing in your underwear! (At home getting ready for the race... Not AT the race ) I just set a steady pace, and was able to run the entire 6.2 miles. I've never done it before, and that was my goal for this year, so I'm super pleased! Not a bad time either at 1hr 11min (11.30 pace).

I got another blue egg today. I have several chickens that don't think the nesting boxes are cool enough for their eggs. I have a marans that will only lay under the nesting Boxes. Been doing that for a good month now. The blue egg layer has to lay in the corner on the floor next to the nest boxes. But she may grow out of that.

Anyone know where Terri put her garlic from the mini bash? It's a mystery to her...

I took the kids to see Hotel Transylvania tonight. It was a cute movie. They liked it a lot, and got junk food for supper. Can't beat that!

Eyes are getting heavy. Better go put kiddos to bed. I need some shut eye!

Hi all!

Yep, insurance people can drive you nuts! And some people are just dumb about dogs! My daughter when she was young brought our dog over to a friends to play. They were playing with a ball and the dog was jumping around for it when one of her teeth hit the girls arm. 1 scrape, barely broke skin, the girls mother cried "dog bite"
and it wound up costing us about $400!!! She didn't play with that girl again, daughter's idea, she thought the girl and her mom were too sissy! Yea, and this was one of those dogs you could do anything too.

DrH... I did get some more pics but they came out bad. I thought Isis was out but when I got the kittens out for photo shoot, but she was right there! Hard to take a pic. while trying to steal another one from mom! Now she moved them... again!

TO.... The turkeys did go in during most of the rain!!! Yep, all those coops/buildings just need a bunch of $$$$ to get!

Bl4 .... Don't ya just love small town politics? I wasn't trying to make waves about the fish, sorry if it seemed that way. I like fish tanks myself.... just not the upkeep! LOL

Bigz glad your gettin it cut up! Kinda warm out there, not that I'm complainin. Bryan and I used to be able to cut up a deer in 2 hours but we've slowed down a lot these days bout 4 hours now. But no wasted meat of any kind and well trimmed. He told me when we cut up that 5 pt that he thought of calling other people but he never gets as much meat as when I help. He also knows how to play me. oton ended up cookin in the house, fried the burgers, boiled the brats then browned them up in the buger grease. Never did that before. Not as good as off the grill but... Looks like I'll be putting that Husq on Craigs list that's right I was very naughty. Laura is down south and I told her on the phone yesterday that she can't leave me home unsupervised anymore. Bought the 170 and had them put a 12" bar on it. Man is that thing shiney but now it has finger prints all over it. Come on quit raining!!!!!! Should have never touched it the other day. Glad it was warm last night the kids were soakin wet at bed time. Except for Peatwo he spent most of the day in the coop. Only smart one of the bunch I guess. Thinkin of injecting a sirloin roast today with cajon spices.

good AM, raining like heII outside..that's OK.. we need this moisture to settle the perrenials for next year..

My puter was into the shop.. thought it was the hard drive.. but it was something else that cost money to fix.. seems to be OK now..

I won't bore you with details, but the tractor is still giving me fits..

something chased the peahen off her nest and took all the eggs.. we have not seen her since.. I thought I saw her yesterday, but she looks exactly like the youngest hen, so I am not sure it was her..

something finished off the guinea nest that was in the garden , too.. IDK about that hen.. Bro Dave found a pile of feathers at the edge of the woods..

Annie dug 20 gallons of potatoes.. She finally learned to leave the tiny ones behind.. Now she blames me for picking them up .. she said that I always wanted them for seed.. B>S> !!! that was years ago.. I have been buying seed potatoes for years.. and women say that men don't listen ??? HA !!!!!

this is going to be a long boring day.. and the Packers don't play until tonight .

If the rain lets up, maybe I will honor Annie's wishes and take the window AC out..

she had her hair permed yesterday.. now she looks like that little girl from the comic strip,,"Little Orphan Annie" ..

We put Dave's chickens in with the baby peacocks.. they acted like those chickens were from a different planet.. Anne wanted to move them in with the keets, but I told her that they had to get used to the aliens.. Does anybody else find it funny/strange/odd that " keet " on a poultry site is underlined as being spelled wrong ? or is it spelled differently ?
