Thanks for all the welcomes. I can see I have a lot to learn about who is who here. I am just hoping to connect with other chicken people from my home state.
Good Evening everyone! Welcome Leesbunny!
Staying up late getting ready to leave for a long weekend up to Glidden which is near Ashland. Looooog drive with all the kiddos but my parents have a vacation house up there so we try to go a few times a year. Should be fun as my sisters, and brothers and all the cousins will be there. Sometimes it seems like the preparation is longer that the vacation!
The new black stars seem to be doing as well as can be expected, and I think they will be a good addition to the flock.
So- I hope you all have a happy healthy rest of the week, and I will check back in Monday.
Hi all!
My posts keep getting shorter as I'm TRYING to get to bed earlier.... didn't work tonight
Hope "Frenchie" gets her internet worked out...and yea, too many others missing too! Well, maybe when it gets too cold to work outside
Welcome leesbunny (LB?)
The next smallest kitten isn't doing real well
I don't think mom has enough milk. I've been feeding him replacer and he seems to be perking up but he's smaller than the rest and not as active. The others just push him out of the way when mom comes to feed. Nature can be cruel sometimes
Hopefully I caught it soon enough. Spirit (one of my old cats) I had to feed since before her eyes were open, so I know it can be done. No, DrH, it's not little Moe... he's 2nd most active!
Cinlady, I had to do that with Maxines kitten. It was hard but I am the only one that the cat likes other than her mom Maxine.
Today I plan on opening the coop door one more day in hopes our little lost girl returns. Not holding my breath. still plannng the cover for the unenclosed coop. Thinking chicken wire is better than bird netting. Have a good day
Yah David Chicken wire is better but much harder to work with for a covering, and heavier to hold up.......... most winged predators will be deterred by just the netting, except maybe a determined owl, I read a post a few million back about a owl getting in someones coop....can't remember who posted it now tho........ but the coop was covered and the owl did manage to get in an kill at least some of the chickens.......my memory isn't so good anymore but I do think it was someone on this thread........maybe they will relate again what happened.
Leesbunny........... what kind of chickens do you have and where are you at? I see NW , but how far MN border far? I'm about 45 miles from GB so pretty far NE.........but we have several peeps out your way. We also have some great ole chicken farmers here who know just about anything you might want to ask. I'm fairly new to chickens too have had em now since March of last year, so almost 2 years, and I totally love this board, theirs so much knowledge to be had around here, if one of us can't help with something I would bet we know where you might find the info.........We also love pictures, of any kind, we have a good photographer on this thread as well who sends in some awesome sights......... but chicken pictures are always welcome.
Well all Adam is off again to the new Job, his trainer is a real jerk, hes one of those do what I say not what I do guys who should not in MHO even be training new drivers, he doesn't do half the pretrip safety checks, wants Adam to run the 10 speed like a my 5 speed truck, and expects him to know his route after only 1 day, but hes banging the boss lady so he gets to do and say whatever he wants........So to say the least Adam DID NOT Have a very good day yesterday, he was quite miffed by the time he got home last night, the guy even made him drive all day but split the drive hours up so they each had half....... making it look good on paper. I hate these kind of lazy know it all ppl.........grrrrrrrrr I would already have no job because I'm not nice like Adam is I would have told him what OI thought reported it to the real boss, and said FU I can get another job somewhere else, 90% of the trucking places are always hiring. Adam didn't even say anything after the guy embarrassed him in front of the safety director ( GF) who asked if he would hand Adam over the truck, he said yup, but I can't guarantee the load would get there, he basically said Adam has no sense of direction, which by no means is even true, Adam can find any place, knows maps( if he gets one) was not given one, Paul was suppose to be his guide but would not tell him anything, so basically they gave him a map a useless one.........GGGRRRRRR praying he has a better day today, and all this friggen fog this morning goes away fast, but they are calling for it to be around till after 10am...........it's thicker than pea soup out here, Adam even left out 15 minutes earlier to account for the extra slow drive into Neenah........ Well anyway done Be.....itching now, I best go feed the critters and see about letting out the girls, maybe I will lock em in the barn again this morning, it will be pretty dark till later on this morning with the dreary fog......... Stay safe everyone driving this am, and have a good day ............Kim

My Pet Chicken
Possible Adoption: 10 standard breed baby chicks (9 assorted females and 1 baby rooster) will most likely need to be picked up today from a post office about 10 miles northeast of Minneapolis. If you have a brooder, heat lamp, plus chick starter feed and are able to give a good home to all 10 chicks, please e-mail [email protected] with your contact information and whether you will be available to pick up the chicks by this afternoon.
