Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good early evening! I feel like I have been running all day! Picked up the guinea to day and he looks good. Got him in quarantine for a bit. While he was sitting in the cage my guineas must have heard him becauase they all came into the barn to check it out. I think I might have all males because they were pecking at each other through the bars and jumping on top to see if they could get at the new one! Sheesh--I am glad he will be protected for a little bit anyhow!

Stopped at my folks' place (Dad's 75th today) and wished him a happy day. They wanted me to stay for supper...but I had said I was going to my friend's grandson's 1st birthday party...I didnt want to say that I didnt really want to eat there...they try but. Then I had to stop at a pet store to see about that medicine for the chicken with canker...no dice. So my friend made some good food for the birthday--Delicious potato salad! She is GF too so I know I can trust it with her...she even brought us GF chocolate cookies so we wouldnt "feel bad" when everybody else had cake! LOL! THen I came home...whew. Now I am going to check out all the links and threads for fermented food...
DH asked what was for supper...yeah, how about popcorn? He said he is making a chuckroast on the grill--I said have at it!

I feel bad for those people on the East coast....they got hit last year too didnt they? Yeah, glad we are in the midwest!
Robin you sure made me chuckle about that kitten...DH said I thought YOU would want one...I think I am so over cats...mine are absolutely naughty! Every morning it is either them or the dogs that I have to clean up after...and the dogs are kenneled until DH leaves!
There was something else I had to mention, cant remember it now...maybe later though eh?
Have a good one! TerriOnothungryforpotroastonthegrill

Packer Win Afternoon....wasen't pretty at all but at least we are catching up to da bears.

Sorry I didn't see your post sooner bl4...would love a batch of the cinnamon swirl....just let me know when it's ready and me and suzie will take a ride. Hard to believe I was in wega at least once a week for 30 years...haven't been over through there in many years. be neat to see what has changed.

There is alot to be said about workin smarter Doc. When I think of all the splittin wedges I reduced to mushrooms workin the stubborn stuff...
th.gif
I love my splitter and give her a good pat and a smile every time I use her. I would never be able to split cords of wood again by hand.

Hope Adam does good tomorrow ghost. I'll keep my fingers crossed for him.

Need to mention the wolfs again....had the female walk through the front yard yesterday...she is silver colored as can be and is sporting a DNR tracking collar...folks have seen the pair together right next to my property....however we have seen them seperate....her tounge was just hanging out. She must of been chasing deer. I think the male has 30lbs or more on her, more muscle for sure...I'm thinkin he is older than she is. Unreal how long her body was. Truly beautiful creatures....

Time to fire up the fireplace....good way to use up some nice dry pine.

Well I think my chickens are slowly coming out of their slump... had 5 eggs today, better than the one or two egg day.. especially when you end up with a micro banty egg and that is it...So getting better. Spent some time spoiling the newer duccle. Trying to get them used to us and treats. I dont think they will ever be as friendly as some of our other chickens, but warming up a little.

Had a good dinner with little hanger steaks, mushrooms and roasted butternut squash and some carrots. Yum. I get so saladed out... just sick of them. So everyone eats those and I had the squash and shroom mix which was good.
Gotta try to make these jello worms for the kids class and some chili for a halloween potluck. Busy week!

Just waiting for scalloped potatoes to be ready.. I am not crazy for them, but at least I don't have to cook..

I got the ceiling in the dog coop/brooder.. got the front ceiling joist installed, too,, got the rear ceiling joist clamped in place,, but not screwed in.. I decided to put a shingled roof on it instead of the corigated plexiglas .. I have some odds and ends of vinyl siding in one of the trucks.. I might just do that, too..

believe me, I know how those coops add weight.. I can still spin this one around on the trailer to work on it.. and I can lift one side, yet... I did have to move it from the rear more to over the wheels.. the jack was leaving the ground every once in awhile ..

I have a guy interested in 5 Royal Palm hens.. However, I think he is thinking of trying to whittle the price down.. good luck fella.. wait until next spring and I am adding $10 to each one..
I have to look up my ad on craig's list.. I forgot what I was asking for them..

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO glad to be inside!!! Happy I had some beef stew simmering away in the oven......

Ok, BigZ I will let you know when I get it done. Hopefully before Thanksgiving so I do not interfere with your deer hunting!

Judge, so sorry about your little goat! One of the hard lessons little kids learn....

Jim, scalloped potatoes are good!

TO, I am with you and the cats. I think I want only one..... maybe two in the house. That is it. Too much dang fur flying everywhere.

Not much else to report...... too much candy in the house now...... it is SO tempting........

Vicki, that chick pic is sooooo cute! Thanks for sharing. Glad to hear the Nu-Stock is working too. I better order some. Sounds like a good thing to have on hand. The bread trick sure makes it easy, hey? Wasn't my idea, though. I got it from a worming thread. In a few days, you should maybe try putting some of that new probiotic powder (from Sav-A-Chick) in your girls water to see if that doesn't help with the pasty poo.

Bl4, I remembered where I put my soap this time. Can't wait to try it. The stuff you're making for Bigz sounds yummy. Vanilla & cinnamon. Mmmm....

DrH, I forgive you.

Actually, I knew you didn't mean it.

I'm overly protective of my critters also, and I certainly don't need any more, that's for sure! I really think you should get 2 of them, though. You wouldn't believe how lovable & inseparable sibling cats are. I never get tired of watching mine.

I agree on the game. That was just plain ugly. But it was a win, so I'll take it. And there's nothing wrong with being proud of efficiency, improvement & a job well done, not to mention keeping your butt warm on cold evenings.

Welcome back, Judge! So sorry to hear about your goat.

Glad you had a nice visit with your folks, Terri. Yikes, my dad would be 79 in Dec. if he were still here. Mom just had a birthday the day after Ghost's, but she'd smack me if I told you how old, er, young she was.

Ssshhhhh!!!!

Sure wish you could have gotten a pic of the wolf, Bigz. I bet she was a beauty.
Brrrrrrr is right! My poor DH has been working on a new wall on the chickies carport for the past couple days. I went out to help him when I noticed one of Mooses kids prolapsed.
barnie.gif
Why does it always have to be something???? I brought her in, looked her over really well, cleaned her up & popped it back in. She gave out a little squalk, but at least it went back in easy & stayed there. Whew! That was my first time dealing with that one. I hope she is going to be ok. She looks pretty good otherwise. I put her in a cage out in the garage with a heating pad & put some towels over the top to try to keep it somewhat dark in there so she won't be stimulated to lay. Wish me luck, please. And if anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it.

Other than that, I've got nothing. Sweet dreams, all!

Good evening all........
Boring day today, didn't do a whole lot played with puppies, made supper, dis dishes, fed the chickens 2 dozen scrambled eggs as a treat because I'm out a BOSS, they like the eggs better anyway......... My chickens are silly I say here chick chick, and the whole gang comes running 90 miles and hour half flying and running like crazy.......... even my girls in the nest boxes come running out.......... sissy my oldest SS is still molting like crazy and someone, I think fatty a Delaware hen is picking on her found her tonight hiding half under the hay pallet and a bale of hale, I let out a squawk of my own I thought she was dead, and she is my absolute favorite chicken my lap girl and she hides from the boys by running to me every time she see's me. So does Bridget the little pullet I got at the bash from Jim, but she isn't so crazy about being picked up, just wants to hide close to me, because she knows I will chase the boys off or pick them up so she isn't getting road......... poor little girls. Naughty little roosters.......

Judge so sorry about the goat, do ya know what happened or what she had wrong? I feel terrible for your little girl, I bet she is gonna take it pretty hard, I know I did as a child, I would cry for weeks when I lost a critter, who am I kidding I still do...... and I'm way old enough to realize the facts of life and things die........... sending out some extra hugz for you guys......:hugs :hugs :hit

Don't remember who said it CC I think, but she is so right about sibling cats, we have our 2, a brother and sister, both are fixed but totally they are hilarious with there antics, and would be so lost without each other, especially when we are gone a day or 2......... I feel cats are like horses 2 are always better than 1, or maybe like potato chips ya can't have just 1..........hehehe and taking care of 2 is the same as one, no extra work, just a little extra food.

Jim Scalloped potatoes are awesome...... next time Annie makes them have her add a can of cream of celery soup, makes them so much better, I also add a couple pats of butter for richness, and sometimes cream. of mushroom soup if I don't have the celery, lots of onions too....... We love them around here and if I make a batch we might get 2 meals out of it....... if were lucky....... problem is I rarely have ham these days since its so darn expensive. Used to get nice Hill shire hams from my Sister she is a ham boner there, but she hasn't gotten any for us since 2009 when I blew up and disowned them.......LOL my own darn fault I guess, but when Dad passed it was the last straw, putting up with there crap. and all the bull they pulled with the funeral, the bills ect........... argg don't let me get started......anyway Jim how are the critters? I miss those beautiful Peacocks, did your other hen ever show back up, or is she a goner? are the broodies still sitting on the pea eggs? how long b4 they hatch now? I like your turkeys too, you aren't gonna sell the 2 banded girls are ya? the talkers.

Whoever it was that commented on my olive eggs..LOL TY I think it was KrisiP, I really only have a couple most are blue or a pretty blue green, from my EE's, but the flash wouldn't go off on my camera so they all looked olive, there actually much prettier in person..... net year I plan to just hatch the blue eggs, I know my splash rooster carries the blue egg gene, because my SLW cross gave me a pretty light green egg...... so if he covers my girls, I should get alot of blue egg layers, now I just have to get my Wellies from Hens and roos for there wonderful dark speckled eggs, and I will be all set, the egg colors I want and the roosters to be a good size to butcher. and pretty too........ that's the problem around here too many pretty roos.......I don't wanna butcher them.....

TerriO got the pm, and yes I knew that, but didn't quite know how to report it because I think he is gonna get screwed over on the pay as well..... so we just reported what he was told he would make, and now we have to call them tomorrow.......... because he told em to stick it.......... argggggg....... nothing like getting screwed some more, I wish he would have never have heard of the dam place. Oh well everything happens for a reason, don't quite understands Gods reasons but I'm sure I will someday......... so anyway sending out a prayer and thank you all for being there, for me to vent too sometimes......... LOL I really would blow up if I didn't have you all............ so nighty night people, see ya in the am............Kim

Well..... "It's dead Jim" (Trekies will get that) The computer won't even turn on now! I using an old IBM ThinkPad right now and I hate it! But I guess I'll have to make friends with it for now. Have to try to get a mouse to work with it... that little button is a b!tch! Not going to try 2 windows now so not much responding going to happen.

CC.... yes, that's the girl! She needs a home as well as an all black boy and all black girl!

DrH... Moe has a triangle over his left (our right) lip and the other lip round spot. If I can figure out how to do pictures on here I will post new ones! They got cuter!!!

Sorry about the little goat
hugs.gif

Didn't see much of Ozzy today, guess he was hiding his shame
gig.gif
He was on the roost at lock up though so guess he's OK. Funny how they do that.... yank out those pretty long tail feathers and down the pecking order they go! Better than an all out fight! Sure wish I had a big barn I could let them live in away from the girls.

Not much else..... night all!

Good Full Moon Morning All! AOWWW! Cind sorry to hear your puter crapped out! Maybe I'll have to name Moe, Geo.

judge that sucks about the goat always seems to me that goats and sheep just die so unexpectedly. CC I know sibilings are hecklarryus to watch when they grow up together. But NO NO NO! Getting anxious to try that Nu stock. Tried Blue Coat but that didn't work out so well. CRS has kicked in again. Heading to push brush way out back to open up some cutting then dragging the splitter to the pile and take care of that. Starting to think a rain day would be nice.
lau.gif
Dang it Jim now I have to have scalloped taters and ham. Just happen to have all the ingredients. Chicken and salads planned for tonight.
