Evening Everyone..... Sorry to hear about the goat...tuff for the children to understand how life works sometimes.

Thanks bl4....I know you are busy, so whenever it's ready works for me. My schedule is flexible for sure.

Nice day to exercise the new saw some more. I think I'm the one that really got exercise though. I think I'll sleep good tonight. It ran really smooth.

NPIP testing is affordable for sure....depends who is doing it, but a $1 or $2 per bird can be had I'm thinkin. Might be a minimum amount too, due to travel costs. Cheaper than a doctor visit for sure.

How did Adam do today ghost?

Lazyboy is calling.... bigz

Good evening everyone! Just got in from chores...what a nice night! It is very calm outside and if I wasnt so tired I would take a horse out for a ride. Actually, I wish I was a good bareback rider because it is the getting saddled and ready that exhausts me! If someone would deliver my saddled horse to the porch I would be gone already. I think I need to have lots more $$$ so I can have a groom. (maybe in my next life)
Speaking of porches...I do need that mat for my door:

And maybe someone to clean my porch...nothing like taking a picture to really SEE stuff!

Hey MLH--what color eggs do those birchen modern games lay? Could this be it?

IT is either her or maybe the first egg from one of my Aussies. I dont think their eggs are that dark though...maybe I have a marans in there?

Somebody said something about Welsummers yesterday...I had a few from H&R and their egg production was very disappointing! I still have the roo but the hen died a few weeks ago. She had ascities I believe or was becoming an internal layer. Maybe that is why she was a poor layer from the beginning? Does anyone have any in production? I liked the color of the eggs and I loved the look of the birds...she even was the one that won the trophies as a pullet...just goes to show you that the winning pullets are not always the best birds the next year! I did find it humorous that there were a very large amount of Wellies at that show this year though! Ha! Then I won with a Modern Game...I wonder if there will be way more of them next year? It will be interesting to see.

Guess I will go and do more reading about fermentation and forage!

Terri, my Aussies laid eggs that ranged in color of the bottom 4 eggs in your pic. I never had any eggs as dark as that little one, but one of my golden laced orps from Bigfam laid an egg that was that exact same size. I LMAO when I saw that one!

WTH is this???

Wish it was a nice night here. We took Ramses in for a vet visit earlier & it was beautiful. But by the time we got home, a COLD stiff wind had picked up. Brrrrrrrrr! I'm still freezing. Think I'll turn in early tonight & get under some warm & toasty blankets.

Mini Moo(se) is looking much better today, even though she laid an egg today. She laid a big broody sh!t while I was out by her too.

Guess she doesn't like messing up her cage.

If she looks as good or better tomorrow, I might put her in with Jack for a day or 2 before letting her rejoin the flock, just to be sure she has recovered.

Other than that, I felt like Jim today. Not really in the mood to get too terribly much accomplished. Gotta go pill the cat & hit the hay. Sweet dreams, all! And thanks for setting DrH straight, Cind!

Where and how do oyu get NPIP testing done?

Good evening all........
Well BigZ had it been spring Adam would have a job, they are only hiring experienced OTR drivers right now because they require a month training period, and by that time snow will be flying.......... Not sure exactly why they even bothered to interview him, unless he didn't mention just outa school, and they didn't ask........ Adam is a good driver, came from Springville NY just south of Buffalo, snow is not a problem for him plus, he did the advanced driver training at school, on the skid pad, and is certified with a diploma for it......was hoping they would cut him some slack....they did take copies of everything to keep on file, and said to get back to them come spring....but no luck.for right now........Still has another interview at performance tomorrow, then its hit the bigger places that keep ya out weeks at a time, and I will be the most miserable wife in the state if he gets a job like that...... I'm having a hard time dealing with him being gone 5 or 6 days...........arggggggghhh some days life is depressing. TerriO you need to move closer because I need a riding buddy, I think I'm gonna have a lot more time on my hands than I originally planned... wish winter wasn't coming I don't like the cold and it don't like me anymore either, after a 20 minute in the 20's I'm frozen almost solid, and can hardly get down because my feet are numb along with my fingers........
So nothing else new here today except I got a dryer given to me by my GF Jodi, so at least I can do my wash and dry my clothes until we can fix my dryer.......... Man I sure did miss having a dryer of my own........

So Jim it took you this long to figure out big business only cares about your money, I'm a bit younger and had that figured out years ago..........hehehe,
I remember when I was a kid, all the store people knew you by name, the hardware guy was friends with my dad, the gun shop dude we hunted with, the gas station owner came over every Sunday for dinner, and I remember him helping dad rebuild a motor that was hanging in our old oak tree one summer,. even the beer depot guy knew all us kids cuz when Ma or dad picked up a 12 pack, we got penny candy that .....WAS ACTUALLY A PENNY....... and life was much easier then......... at least to my then young eyes it sure seemed to be. We never had much for money, we did have a house tho, with food in it, a warm heater, and always had help when we needed it. People worked together for one goal, not just there own. So what has all this progress gained us? a pain in the back ,a pain in the arse, a pain in the wallet! no one helps anyone, heck when you ask you no longer have friends, they usually disappear, forget your name, loose your phone number....GEESHHHHH Granted there are a few good people left out there who are not so wrapped up in their own little crystal ball life, that actually do help there friends , but in the last 10 years the only ones I have seen belong to this here board.......... us crazy chicken people are the only sane people left on the planet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So anyway good night all you crazy chicken people............hehe will be back sometime tomorrow... have a great night and good day....later all........Kim

Hi All!

Well, 2nd day on this little monster. I got a mouse hooked up... that helps. I upgraded the Ubuntu and Firefox but this machine and modem is still real slow and won't do everything I'm used too.

Oh well, make do.

Wow people.... only 2 pages? You would think "Sandy" was hitting us! Guess down here we will get some effects from it though.

JJ.... Ymmm.... squash!

Bf4m.... WOW....So cool Earthlady got the COVER and more work inside!!! Since she hasn't been coming on.... could you find out where and how we can get the calendar? Tell her congrats! from us!

Jim.... Yep, I miss my little town I grew up in where you knew all the business and they knew you! I still live in that town, but I want to cry when I see how much it grew and changed. One saving grace is we still have our family owned hardware store! Grant you it got bigger, but in their case that wasn't a bad thing. Most of the people there know what they're talking about and will help you find what you need or will get it for you ASAP! My grandfather worked for them ever since I could remember until he retired, and after! He would still fill in when they needed help and did some odds-n-ends stuff that that he specialized in. When he had his stroke the family was there for grandma too!

TO....I think most of us have at least one of "those spots" LOL

CC,,, Glad "mini Moo" is feeling better....Your coming for the kitten(s) last week in Nov. right?

dvang3.... Try going on line and check the web page for your county. At least you should find someone who could point you in the right direction.

GR.... Glad you feel at home with us "crazy chicken people"

Well, the turkeys got out (again) today. Young son, his friend and Ruddy got them all rounded up and home! I feel sorry for the turkeys, the were free range where they used to live. But their wondering ways is why I have them. Hope I can figure out how to make more room for them. Jim, turkeys are good in the cold right? So far mine only go in to roost at night so if I can come up with more outside space they should be good... right?

Had venison stew with dumplings... could have made a double batch!!! SO GOOD!

Guess that's it.... Night All!

Howdy everyone!

How's my extended crazy chicken people family? In a move completely uncharacteristic for me, I'm awake and making banana bread at 5 in the morning! My MO usually is to sleep as late as possible! Well what do you know? Where's my cuppa?

...Ah here it is... much better :)

I co-lead my first Daisy girl scout meeting last night!!!! 5 year olds! What a hoot! Only problem is I think I had more fun than they did!
big_smile.png
Oh well there's plenty of time to remedy that. And now this house is girl scout cookie central. Crazy fun talk!

I'm pleased as punch to be able to say the lil' Silkie boy I brought home from Heather's is fitting right in after a stupid start on my part. He is just so cute it can't even be real. It's 34 degrees in their coop right now. Husband has a thermometer out there that we can read in here. Technology, eh?
