Pictures Jim! I'd love to see pictures!!!

snowy evening everyone. Roads are actually slick in some spots. The girls decided to go to bed early so I peaked at them through the window. The naughty bantam is still sleeping by herself on the lower perch. I hope the others forgive her soon. It was cute, the Seabrights are sitting on one end while the Japanese bantams are sitting on the other end,

Jim congrats on the dog Bobby Joe sounds like a southern name.
h&r I hope your dad is ok.

Have a good night

David

extra protein helps with feather growth. You can try tossing in a handful of BOSS in the coop. It serves two purposes. They help turn the litter, and they get exercises on snowy days. That will only work if it is late molt. If it is something else, it will only add calories and protein.
ACV in drinking water to help with all chicken issue except sour crop.
add Apple Cider Vinegar to their water, at a rate of 4 teaspoons per 1 gallon (or, about 4 milliliter per liter, but check my math). This makes the water slightly acid (the target is a pH of 5~6) and, along w/ the tannin, 'ACV' does a bunch of good things, like reducing harmful levels of bacteria, and preventing algae, detoxification in some cases (such as those that are produced by botulism), and stripping the mucus from their systems, which also further improves nutrient/vitamin uptake, and boosts their immune system, and best of all? It can't hurt your birds, in any way. Vinegar - is perhaps one of the natural ingredients that many might call an all-round treatment for many conditions. Vinegar contains vitamins such as beta carotene, minerals, amino acids and the aforementioned enzymes containing ninety different components. Vinegars effectiveness includes: treating gas in puppies, kittens, and chicks; preventing urinary tract in male cats, formation of mineral stones and helps to dissolve hairballs.
Further claims about vinegar include lengthening life, improving hearing and vision, and calming nausea. Relief of conditions such as arthritis, sore muscles, pain, and osteoporosis; prevention of cancer, kills infection, conditions the skin, aids digestion, controls weight, preserves memory, slows aging of the body and mind and breakdown
of joints, bones and cartilage. Small wonder the uses of vinegar as one of the natural ingredients extremely useful for your pets’ safety and health.
Garlic - is sometimes called “natures antibiotic. With its ability to cleanse the liver and break down toxins in the blood, garlic not only helps repel blood sucking insects but also helps maintain a healthy heart and healthy skin and fur. citrus and herbs - provides vitamin C, complex carbohydrates, and anti-oxidants which help reduce free radical damage to tissue and organ systems. Common kitchen herbs such as ginger, along with vinegar, help your pets digestive tract and boosts winter boredom.

The best way to make it is to save all your apple peelings and cores. Toss them all in a glass quart jar, cover with water and a tablespoon of sugar. Set it on the counter for 5 days. I than smash the peelings and core threw a small sieve to get out as much pulp as I can. Put it back in the jar and put a lid on. Put it in the back of the closet for a month. You just made apple cider vinegar with the mother.

Hi all--I KNEW it Jim! I just knew it...you never let grass grow under your feet for too long! I think you should call him BJ. Same but not "gay." Or if he already answers to BobbyJo call him BeeJoe. Dogs only really hear the last sound...but that might be too close to "NO" and you dont want that either! But then you could shorten it to BJ in a few weeks when he is settled. I never was to afraid to change an animal's name...as soon as they see you as "the feeder" they will come to anything! LOL~Congratson the new addition...dog feed bill going up fast--soon!

Update on my birds: the female MG is still alive. The heat and the tylan that I dripped into her beak seem to be helping...she is still not eating so I am taking Mealies down there soon. Yes H&R they are sneezing, bubbly, runny eyes and snots too. Wheazy breathing right along with it. I am sure it is because I treated them with Deneguard on Friday before I left...they didnt drink ALL weekend that I was gone! Had I been home I would have noticed that...the people didnt...but I cant blame them too much. 4 deaths in there over the weekend...3 they didnt find, 2 yesterday and one this morning and another when I went to check them at 2! The Tylan might me too little too late for them....I am sad. Today both my replacement Aussies that looked like show quality expired. The wild chickens in the top barn are doing great however...both broodies still have all their chicks and there is no sign of sickness in any other flock. Im glad that I have plastic around that coop...maybe I can contain it to those birds?

H&R--prayers for your Dad...people are so fragile when they get to be in their 80s!
Hey Kim--the woman(newlywed mid-20s) that came over to visit today has her DH gone until mid-December! So it is not so bad that Adam is out for 2 weeks! She worked with my parrot today and had him out of the cage and pulling her sweatshirt for an almond! She might come again to work with him on Thursday.

Tommy is on the back of my recliner and he sounds stuffy too...God I hate when my stuff is sick! Guess I should get him on the Tylan too.

Spanish Rice with pork chops for supper...sure wish I woulda pulled some of those brussels sprouts to have along with...dont think I want to go down to the garden in the rain....

Maybe be back later...I think I have to bring Commander in and put a blanket on him or at least scrape him down so he is warmer...poor guy is still shivering. DOnt want to blanket him yet--he is still growing a coat..well, kinda!
Talk later maybe--TerriOdrowninginbirdiesickness

keep her warm and quiet, isolated in a small area just so she can't panic and injury herself worse.

watch her close for signs of shock and see how the next few hours go.

If you pick the birds up can you smell anything foul-smelling by their beak. Do you have the chicken health handbook? Look up Infectious Coryza and Infectious Laryngotracheitis.

Evening Everyone...Thanks for all the nice words sent our way. You folks are the best!

Way to go with the rescues WCC and Frenchie and congrats on the new puppies Kris and Jim. I'm sure thet will all adjust well to their new homes fast with all the attention they will be getting.

Gotta give the back a little healin time Doc...plenty of time to finish next years pile.

Best to isolate with heat Ghost....time will tell if the leg is a gonner or not. Sounds like the circulation was cut off for a long time. In regards to the hen with a bare back.....the feathers will NOT grow back until a molt...hopefully she hasen't had one yet...if so. it will be bare til she does have one.Possibly next year if she had a molt already. Chicken feathers are only replaced after molts. Good to hear Adam will have a paycheck coming in.

Woodson is hoping to be back for the last game or two before the playoffs CC. They figured 6 to 8 weeks.

Tough about the sick chickens TO. Hope you can get a handle on things...Do you simply allow the birds to drink some Tylan...Is that how you administer it? Good to hear you watched some of the game too.

Glad Daddy is on the mend H&R. I'm not a fan of getting older either. Not much choice in the matter. Glad he was able to get attention before things got worse.

Me and suzie voted early this morning too. Nice not to have all the annoying phone calls that you have to hang up on , eh! Sure wish they would get rid of the electorial college and have a real vote that is worth as much as the next guys.
