good AM, just had Eggs Benedict.. No Packer game today.. raining outside.. and nobody to talk to on Cheeseheads.. WTH ?

I should be picking up the yard and rolling up un-needed hoses for the winter.. but it is raining.. and tomorrow I suppose everything will be frozen tightly to the ground..

Tire went flat on the Blazer.. slow leak,, Oh well, it is time to change to winter air in the tires anyhow..

Bears have the right idea,, go to sleep until all this winter sh!t is over..

I will be turning the rest of David's chickens loose today.. Kim took 2 red stars and the one wyandotte.

Annie checked at Petco for prices on cockatiels.. $149.oo .. she put an ad in the shopper for a young cockateil with cage for $50.oo.. the shopper comes out on Tuesday..

OK , I am all out of ramble..

Just started raining here!

Somewhat productive morning .... I got up and made coffee.

Actually I cleaned off my dining room table. All of my soap making supplies are finally here!

Right now I am cooking down the final harvest of my tomatoes in the oven, and I have the jug of palm oil and the jug of coconut oil melting on the stove so I can pour them into buckets. I ordered some cocoa butter this time, I think I will make some chocolate soap.

Try not to eat it......

it won't hurt you if you do. Maybe I will get a batch or two made tomorrow. I picked up some almond scent oil so I can make an almond oatmeal soap, decided I would get some Frankincense EO and try that out.... make a 'King of Kings' soap for Christmas.... now I need myrrh.... and it would be really cool to put gold leaf on the soap someplace.

All three cats are piled up on each other on my bed napping.

Drinking my second cup of joe....... perhaps I will make some bread today.... or cookies..... I have not made homemade cookies in a while.... oatmeal sounds good..... or maybe ginger molasses....

Yeah DrH, you do not want to know how much treating 6 animals like that for 6 months cost..... I was happy that I had my job.

Stay dry!

Happ Veteran's Day everyone.

Bittersweet for me. My family has a proud history of service but this day makes me remember those (incl. my dad) that are no longer here for me to thank. can't help but wonder what my dad would think today of the country he fought so bravely for. I also wonder what he would think of out of 3 children, only his daughter, got his "farmer" gene

Not raining right now, kind of wish it would start back up. Sounds like world war III with everyone for miles sighting in their rifles this morning. Freaking my girls so I put them back in the run where they feel safer (especially now that I have the clear tarps up), besides, I am sure it is going to start raining again soon. Hubby is out in the garage putting the chains on the 8N. Hope he doesn't know something I don't! Looks like a good day to say a prayer of thanks to all our guys and gals in uniform (those home and abroad), heat up that big pot of chicken soup w/homemade noodles I made last night, throw some fresh rolls in the oven and snuggle in and watch some football!!!

Here comes the rain!!!!

Happy Veterans Day_Thank you to all that that have contributed to the great freedom we still have in our country!!!!

What a bleery weekend! Productive house cleaning but procrastinating on deciding what to do for water heaters for the coop! Argh! And tomorrow they will need one. The #P(&@*#@#@ plug in one I used last winter kept coming apart and dumping water in the coop and the heated dog dish I have-not sure how user friendly it will be for my bantys-and dont want any drownings! I am thinking as my deep litter method gets deeper, it will be easier for them to reach but also messier. what to do what to do. (keep procrastinating!!!) There have been many fantastic suggestions in the past I know.

Logged in and did a little real work-sad I still have 11 vaca days for work and not sure I can get away to take any off next week.

Mike will be back from his 11 days hunting trip (MN opener and SD birds) tomorrow-will be nice to have someone help with the 3 hr RT commute driving again.

Can you beleive THanksgiving is next week? Anyone have any good GF pie crust recipes to share? Invited to a big family thanksgiving in Stillwater-would be nice to know which of the girls were going to make it home so we knew how to plan :p

Back to cleaning-stay warm!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Gluten Free Pie

Crust

1 ¼ cups salted dry roasted peanuts
½ cup sugar
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
¼ cup heavy cream
Filling

¾ cups milk
¾ cups half and half
2 large eggs
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Pinch of salt
4 ounces cream cheese cut in pieces
¾ cups creamy peanut butter
1 teaspoon gluten-free vanilla
Topping

1 ¼ cups heavy cream
2 teaspoons powdered sugar
Chocolate bar for grating on top – optional
Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put peanuts and sugar in food processor and pulse until ground up. Pulse in the melted butter. Press evenly into the bottom of a 9 inch spring form pan. Make sure you even it out. Bake 15 minutes. It will start to brown and be pretty set. It will still be a little soft when it comes out of the oven, don’t worry it will firm up. Set aside to cool slightly.
While crust cools, melt chocolate and cream together in microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth and glossy, about 1 -2 minutes. Or melt in a bowl over barely simmering water, stirring often until melted and glossy. Spread over crust and put in the freezer for about 30 minutes while making the filling.
Whisk the milk, half and half, eggs, powdered sugar, cornstarch and salt in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly until it becomes the consistency of pudding, 5 or 6 minutes. Take off the heat and whisk in the cream cheese, peanut butter and the vanilla. Let cool slightly. Spread evenly over the chocolate and refrigerate 4 hours or until cold. Can be made to this point a day ahead.
Run a knife around the edges of the springform pan but do not loosen the outer ring. Whip the cream with the powdered sugar and spread over the cold pie. It is best to chill the pie after spreading the cream for about 30 minutes but not necessary. Remove the outer ring of the springform pan and put on a serving platter. Grate some chocolate over the top for a pretty presentation.

CC yep we have a 20 acre hay field but it's got alot of weeds. Our neighbor baled it and we paid him $.80 a bale for the part of field that didn't have as many weeds. He paid me $.50 for the rest that he sold to some beef farmer. So guess who made out !! lol Was thankful just to have it cut and get the weed seeds from dropping. The fied needs to be lymed and fertilized and should really be reseeded too. All to the cost of around $5000 and that was the price I was quoted a few years ago. Needless to say it wasn't done. We don't have any hay making equipment or storage area.
I do have a huge heap of railroad ties that we were going to use to pasture in about half of the field but.... well don't get me started on that issue.
I just love to buy things, let them lay around for NO GOOD Reason !!!
I called the hay guy back today and he said I could get some hay for $4 a bale but I'm a bit untrusting of him right now. I think if the right person came along with a wad of money he would sell out.
Another old guy with smaller bales will sell for $4 a bale but just this week. No good permanent source so far.
Doesn't look good
Bl4, thanks for the hay ads, keep them coming. I got ahold of the one for $3.50, he said it is going fast. He is about 50 miles south of Shawno. Quite a drive so may not be worth the trip. Will talk to ET.
Problem is I don't have the money for gas and hay in the same week. SH!T. I may just let the horses out on my pasture and sit and watch them ????
Problem there is the neighbor let her horses out on the acerage next to mine with a p!ss poor fence. I'm afraid they would get tangled in her barbed wire !!! She doesn't care but somehow my horses seem to find trouble and like to have the vet come and visit !!
Wish I had some T posts (they're $5 a piece) I have plenty of fencing but no posts (can't lift the rr ties myself)
Back to the drawing board.

ps So in other words, no can't baled cause it's been baled and it's way to late for that up this way, keep that thinking cap on though. I need all the ideas I can get.
Anyone want some chickens? Cody?
