Welcome to

I am new to this particular group. Some people are very helpful and nice!
And others are just good drinking partners....

glad you could drag up a perch and roost a while. BTW,~~~~ JIM, ~~~~I am of the female gender and try to be very helpful and kind. You just have to watch out the "hens that run in the mud"" you'll know soon of whom I speak

Had to take a hammer to the latch on my run gate this morning, then once I got that broke free I had to take it to the pophole to get that open. Everything was iced shut!!

My Noodle is going bye bye this weekend. No, not to "freezer camp". I'm giving her to my neighbor whom originally supplied the eggs from which she came after being originally sat upon by her crazy duck which, come to think of it, may account for why this chick is soooo crazy I have to get rid of her for the sanity of my other hens. Seriously, I know she is half Lackenvelder but the other half must be leghorn!!!! Totally antisocial with everything but the hen that sat on her (whcih by the way tries her best at times to literally run away from the chick), runs and screams at the slightest provocation (or not) and appears to have a lower IQ then the scratch feed. I am also getting tired of having to chase her into the run every night when the rest of the girls have the good sense to come running as soon as they hear the shaking of the can filled with yummy mealworms. Her temperment is just not suited to my setup but she should fit right in with the neighbor's crazy flock.

Oh Jim~you'll love this one. Told you guys hubby sold the plow truck, right? So we go to Antigo shopping today and I leave the man alone for only 1/2 an hour (honest!)while I shop @WallyWorld and guess what? He comes down the isle grinning away and can't wait to tell me he "found" a back blade for the 8N at Rew's!

Ok, granted it was a good deal for $250 so close to home , and now he can use the tractor to clear snow from the driveway, BUT he sold the truck! How are we supposed to get the thing home? (Men~you gotta love em, it's not legal to shoot em'

Now I must go put the girls away in their cozy coop and chase down the loony tune, sigh.

Welcome Snooze... we may be sassy, but a good group of chicken lovers here!

Silkies are not the smartest things... mine wont climb to a big coop, but we shortened the legs ona bunny hutch and they go in there just fine.

cold day today... have to find my second heated water bowl. Yikes

Good evening!
(I'm just waiting for TO to shorten the newbie's name so I can say hi)
OK if I must Dan...as I was catching up I was thinking...first it was Snoozey then Snoozer and I think I finally settled on Snooster. What say you?

Not a great day today...way chilly and many snow flurries here too! I picked up the lamb I won at the auction benefit. Pretty small box! Cant wait to have some tomorrow!

I checked out that woman's surgery for bumblefoot...all I can say is that she had way less blood than when I do it! My girl seems to be swelling up again...is there any antibiotic that helps with staph infection? I have already given her PennG and Lincomycin. Not sure what else I should use? I have opened up her foot 4x already!

Well I have to resume looking for a recipe...two books struck out so I am off to recipe.com or someplace...I have to work again at 6:30 so it has to be an easy one!
Later all! TerriOwelcomingSnoostertoourlittlefam

Well I'll say this much, the first person who tries to call me Snooster....shouldn't have any problems that I can foresee and should be successful unless they have trouble with combining words. Thanks, all. Just went and saw Wreck'em Ralph with the kids, great flick for them and us and yes, the dang roosters are still alive. But I got all the implements and such in order just b4 the DW ( I really hope that means 'devoted wife', more ways than one I guess) said we were going to the early showing....thought it was going to be cheesy with one liners throughout after the first 15 minutes, but actually had a good lil cartoon plot and humor and romance and all. Good times.

TO - I used the Vetericyn spray on my girls bumblefoot. Once I had it opened up and cleaned out I sprayed that in there, covered with a piece of gauze then vet wrapped it up. Worked well for me.

Happy Veteran's Day weekend All!

I've never been too much for technology or technology chatting, in a way.  I only point this out to say, I hope i don't do something faux pas or rude; unintentionally in light of etiquette, like maybe this whole 'first impression' for starters...lol? hehe.  Not sure about addressing people either so far as personally or whatever (not sure of screen name at the moment although I'm sure I would if I weren't a newbie), but wassau wi fellow who can build a chicken plucker like nobody's business invited me to stop by.  Jvn62 I will venture to guess.  I'm from Virginia (VA)  and now live in Eau Claire WI.  Brought a wife and two kids with and now have a Wisconsonite also- 9 months old : )  I grabbed some free chickens twice within last two months.  Me or some of the roosters have to go, TODAY.  I truly don't know, however, would like to ask A question before finding out if there is a rule about socialize here, ask there or not due to urgency.  I want to let rigor mortis pass in the fresh chickens, do you think I could stick them in a cooler or LUKEWARM water to counter the effects of the cold for a few hours?  or is that bad?  Oh, my newest batch is breeds are guess somewhat- a Wellington rooster, a white w/orange streaks rooster, a beautiful, big, stately white with streamlined neck and black tail rooster, a game bantam cross rooster- the boss and beautiful also,  a leghorn hen? and 4 americauna, buff orpington crosses with something else in some and maybe that other kind. LOL  Will you guys help me out with the warm water thing, I'm going choppin'?  Nice to meet you all.  BTW, I just posted another big rambling mess over there under meat chickens regarding the same stuff.  Man, it's getting cold here,  I will also have some half papered, expensive purebred ragdoll and half 'raccoon or whatever was outside the nignt she got out' kittens available soon.  Never bought a cat in my life, daughter wanted one and I accidentally googled a certain kitten picture that looked straight out Disney cartoons and here we are......

Welcome to the forum SR, glad to have you here, that there Wausau guy who can build an awsum plucker....that there be Jim, and you were close I think his screen name is Jvls1942, and he can build anything, don't let him or anyone try to fool ya.....especially BigFamily4me......... hehe she is a cad..... hehe he is also an amazing cook, and sometime I hope you get to try his pancakes........ YUMMY
Anyway I have read a bunch about doing up the meat roos.......... and I have never heard anyone use that method, so not sure if it will work..........we did mine Saturday, and I will clean em once more tomorrow and freeze them, everything I read said 2 to 3 days in the fridge will do away with the rigger...........never seen any short cuts to the process. So hope someone can get a better answer...........

TerriO..... so sorry about The little guy. JRT............. and again about the chickens how are they doing now? still loosing them or has it leveled out......... any news on what went wrong.?

weather is yucky here been snowing all darn day, woke to a frozen water tank, and frozen dog bowls, the ladies scratched around so much in my hay next to the wall and plug in that they unplugged them, found that out after taking the tank heater apart to test it........ LOL should have checked the plug first, my patio door is also frozen shut thanks to the rain running down and freezing on the track over night......... so been freezing my butt off to take Leo out all day..... least to say I didn't spend as much time as usual out there today///can we say//////BBBBRRRRrrrrrrrrrrr

Well all if I ain't around much or too much its because I'm totally out of kilter here alone, and Adam has left the building, till I think Thanksgiving........ left out 20 minutes ago, to get his bunk and stuff set up so he's well rested for 6am start tomorrow........... I miss him already, I been bawling all dam day, hysterically since he left............. I really do not like this........... I'm sure I will get over it eventually, but not sure when..........at least I have the son, and dogs to keep me busy........ along with the girls and Horses, or I think by TG I would be about to be admitted to the padded room........ So anyway sorry if zi seem a bit off........... will check back later................ Kim
