BBQ chicken tonight..... YUM! The kids are all looking forward to this weekend... they sighted in their guns last weekend. DD#1 and her BF are going to join the hunting party at the in-laws. I hope she shoots a deer this year..... she needs to finally get her tag filled. No fun hunting if you never shoot anything.

Trying to figure out Christmas presents........ I have not done any shopping at all......... but I am NOT heading out Black Friday! No need for that, there is nothing out there on sale that I need that badly (of course, I have no even looked either).

Bigz, thank you yet again. The only place even remotely close by is a TSC and they don't carry Sulmet, that's why I ordered it. I sure hope it isn't cocci. Don't you think some of the other birds would be showing some symptoms too? It is very strange.

Not much new here. Those latest lav chicks are utter hellions! Nothing at all like the previous batch. I'm thinking of moving them out to the coop tomorrow, the little spazzes. And I definitely need to rehome one of the lav roos. I feel so bad for my girls. Guess that's all. Sweet dreams, all!

One of my hens lays olive, one brown, one or two? tan. They must feel sorry for me, they just decided to lay right outside the door, 15 feet from the oven, in the same pile of leaves. Good Morning All! Like so many other things, where do you draw the line. Think when you buy your license they should make you look at 2 pics one human one deer. Which one do you shoot? That is such a bizarre story! Have to wonder if that guy thought about the whole situation afterwards and decided to give it up. Had a guy walk up to me [he was trespassing] one time and told me that he had a nice sound shot earlier then pulled out a pint and asked if I wanted a pull. I left after he did, To this day I wonder if that wasn't his plan. To all of you going hunting, Kill a big buck in the woods! Goldie has now joined the other mouldy chickens she's the only surviving PR. Has spurs and has never layed an egg, think that's the only reason she's still around. TO hope you find out where that tom lives otherwise...... he he. Think I'll go dig around in the top of the garage today there's various pieces of duct work up there that I might be able to use to pipe in the wood stove to all the rooms. Going to tell Bryan tonight that if he gets any deer to cut up that he can forget about me helping out. Really don't want to back peddle on the "back"! He won't be happy about that. Better get movin!

Morning everyone........
Didn't get to come on here last night had another unexpected surprise, my Hubby was home last night again..YAHHHHH!!!!!!
Because they are sending him off to Belmont AZ, this AM, he left out a here at 6am, he was suppose to have a couple more days of training b4 the over the road but he passed everything with flying colors yesterday already, They were impressed actually, it seems a lot of other trucking schools do not cover what the FVT does, he already knew what was needed so he is off and running a couple days early. He was also told that a couple places that train charge 6 grand for 4 to 6 weeks.......basically half the time he did at school, and they don;t know half the stuff they should, like 1 of his fellow prospects who couldn't back her truck into the loading dock, or do a 90 degree back, so she is staying local for a while b4 they send her out anywhere.. He is excited but sad he will be gone till Thanksgiving day now.......... God help me seven days without him, with only the phone, I'm gonna go nuts.....
So chores were all done early again today, and I'm already bored, my grandson is not yet up to holler for breakfast, I have to go finish designing and painting/staining that door today though and not sure how I'm doing that they didn't leave me the car seat for him, and be darned if I'm taking him anywhere without it, the fine is like 500 bucks.........
So have to figure out away around that one.........maybe the neighbor has an extra seat at her place. So nothing else to report this morning Hope you all have a great day........Kim

Good frosty morning all!!!
Typing fast before I disappear into the kitchen and "whooooosh" turn into deer camp cook!

The crew will start arriving in shifts with the first early this pm.

We have a tiny house with a tiny kitchen so things tend to get interesting by 10 pm. Thankfully we have what we call "the cottage". It really is kind of cute. One of the old resorts near us was sold to a private party several years ago and just gave away all the rental cabins. Hubby and were able to grab the nicest one unfortunately we weren't able to save the screen porch (but I scavanged all that nice copper screen tho!). Anyway, we got it jacked up onto blocks slid a borrowed trailer under it and with the help of our friend Grumpy snuck the thing down HwyK and home. Pa put a new steel roof on it, we painted it up and it now sits on the other side of our garden looking like it's always been there. It already had a nice paneled inside and bunkbeds built into it out of 4x4's. Pa added a propane wall heater and I added some furniture and we buried a power cable for lights. Voila! we had a "guest cottage" aka hunting overflow shack, winter workshop, summer camp for the grandkids, etc. I wanted to turn it into a REALLY cool chicken coop last spring but that didn't go over to well

DELISHA~ thanks. yep I know about Greenfire but the problem is the last I checked they would only sell day old chicks at an outrageous prices (which I totally understand) but with my luck I would wind up with all roos and I just don't have the room (yet

) to gamble too much with the chicken math. I really need 3 good young, cold hardy friendly layers next year to go with my 3 older ladies (and one crazy chick that is already going bye bye).

Ok, I have to get cracking. got to go open the coop, I think the temp is up to 20 by now, bake a few dozen of my famous high energy "deer camp" cookies for the guys to take out in their pockets, bake 2 scratch pumpkin pies, make a really big pot of chili and prep the turkey, stuffing, etc. for the feast tomorrow,
