That's a little ominous. A pic would be helpful. If you can't post a pic, can you describe in detail what this welt looks like, smells like?

Its about the size of a dime, whitish in the center and blue/green at the base of it and the skin around it, very warm, its on her left breast which is the side she wont lay on btw, it has a sour smell to is. But its almost like a sweet sour.

Is it a puncture? Is it weeping or open at all? Is it situated in the breast muscle or lower down near the abdominal cavity?

I would give her a little more time-- one of my shih tzu got ahold of my cockatiel (small parrot) and, although there was no mark on her, her leg was hurt and she limped for months. She got over it though and is 100% fine now and even re-learned how to eat with her feet (parrots do this, she couldn't for a long time however, as she could only use one leg).

Birds are fragile, it's possible a nerve is pinched or deep tissue is bruised.

Based on its location and lack of opening to allow any germs in I would say it's probably deep bruising that is just coming to the surface. Chickens bruise up in the most unnatural green shade. It can be very alarming when you see it for the first time. When anything bruises severely what happens after the internal bleeding stops is the body will open all capillaries to increase circulation to the area, allowing white blood cells to rush in and clean up old blood that has leaked into places where it shouldn't be. The white blood cells "eat up" the old blood, damaged cells, germs and anything that doesn't belong. In the process of doing this the damaged area will heat up due to the increased circulation and increased cell activity (cleaning up and healing the damage). An infection would make the area very hot, but also red and angry looking.

I think I might give her another week of recovery before I contemplated euthanizing her. She sounds like she may have had the stuffing beaten out of her. She's probably going to need some time to improve. If she is eating and drinking, I would wait.

I hope she rallies for you. Good luck.

Thank you for your help. I will give her time of course but i just want to be prepared for what i might have to do you know. I really dont want to have to do it but i dont want someone else to do it. I will update tomorrow with a picture of if.

I agree with the more time. A good wimpy and "peaceful" way out ...is bag her so she cant move and then.... a freezer. Quick way is an ax. You can also hang her upside down first, that kinda stuns them. I hope you dont have to.....

This is what it looks like

That looks like bruising to me. That funny green shade is what chicken bruising looks like. It's probably from a tooth when the dog picked her up. Good thing he wasn't actually trying to hurt her. One chomp and that would have been it for her.

I hope she's feeling better.
