WK #3

Yes it is a turner and these eggs where from this last batch of eggs I got from my two hens. 6 out of 11 hatched after they had been abandoned for two days so I've got 6 keets in the garage and 6 out in the coop with their moms and dad. And in a few weeks I'm going to introduce them all, with barriers of course but it's going to be interesting.

Please keep us updated on how it goes🙂
I have some 3wk, will be 3 1/2wks, that I’ll be introducing to my flock this weekend. I’ll be setting up a brooder inside the coop so they can get to know each other for a few weeks till the babies are ready to start venturing out.

Thank you!- No, really, THANK all of YOU. Not counting my chicks before they're hatched, but I know the odds were against me getting this far. I have the brooder ready to set up, but have put it off -superstition.
It looks like if locked down on side in brinsea mini, where humidity water well is in center, then eggs are positioned with air cell pointed outward?

Yep Sidney, Sounds exciting and like you are doing this hatch your way, just like a guinea hen does. All are probably a little different and when my two hens where taking turns or when one would leave the other would turn the eggs and then the other would come back and turn then back. As long as you are monitoring everything I think your all set. Here is a short video of a hatching I was going to get complete but my white panther of a cat jumped up and after I shooed him out the phone rang and 20 minutes later the keet was there. Good luck...
Very cute!

I just wanted to add: are you able to monitor your humidity? I have had almost no shrink wrap problems in the incubator. However, I have new fear of shrink wrapping now that we had the recent broody guinea hatch where mom abandoned them as they were hatching, and we lost several keets to shrink wrapping. It was really so sad to get them so far and then lose them like that. Anyway, I’ll m sure your hatch will go much better than that!

I have a new hygrometer. Digital one wasn't adjustable

Rosie has a new twitch. I'm not even sure how to describe the noise she's making..something between a purr and a muffled elephant. She'll pace, go in the coop, stare at her nests-yes, plural, unless we're back to questioning sexes-make this weird, grating noise and stomp back out. I think she's getting on Nugget & Blu's nerves; they ran out when I opened the door and refuse to go back in even though it's pouring outside!
Did salt test on hygrometers last night in prep for lockdown just to doublecheck, and thermometers match with room temp, so-4 temp and 3 humidity readers- we're good to go.

Had a heck of a time getting the humidity up. Finally dug out an oddly shaped shotglass, of all things. It's taller than normal and oddly shaped - )_( so it has more surface area but is tall & thick- don't think anyone can fall into or knock it over.
Anyway, that brought humidity up perfectly, temp is stable, I woke to peeping this a.m. No hatches yet, 2 w/external pips.🐣
