wolf spiders!

Tons of them here too. I've relocated a dozen or so to the chicken pen.

This one had the nerve to crawl out of my daughters playpen, it got smushed. I noticed a spider bite on her a few days before I saw it, so I took it's picture before smashing him so I could make sure all the spiders I'd been seeing were wolf spiders. There are brown recluse here too, but they aren't as ballsy as the wolf spiders. They just seem to do as they please whether you're there or not.

I would leave the little darlings alone. They can bite, because the are foragers. But they don't hunt humans. They are just looking for love. If they stay out of my bed then I just let them do their thing. They prefer dark cozy spaces. So if you have to much stuff stored in small dark places, then you have created the habitat that allow these sweet little darlings to thrive. Don't forget that they are feasting on bugs that do way more damage to stuff around the house.

Brown recluse spiders do not like people houses. They like very dark hidey holes. So just stay out of very dark hidey holes.

Definitely prefer the mantis. At least they kill and eat the other creepy crawlies. I remember reading somewhere that, in some countries, people keep the mantis in their house to kill some type of venomous spider they have. I'll have to look that back up again.

Wolf spiders are preditory spiders that kill and eat many bad for the garden insects, and nymphs. I love to photograph spiders and have many close up cool shots, and LOVE them in my garden, however even though they are not venomous I would not like them living enmass in my house either.

They actually carry their babies on their abdomen for a while after they hatch. I didn't know that until this year in the garden I was reaching down to pick up this "wierd pod type thing" (so I thought) but then it moved it was a mother wolf spider covered in hundreds of babies.

Pretty sure I'd die on the spot!

I can handle any other creepy crawlie that's sent my way, but not spiders. That orchid mantis, though - I'd keep a few of those!

Brown recluse often live in the houses in our area. And yes they do like dark hidey holes, say like the inside of a shoe, or the clothes drawer cuddled up inside an item of clothing, ( a major way people get bit by them here)

I'm all about live and let live, but big biting spiders are not welcome. Outside? Sure. In the living room. No. I leave the little house spider types, because they eat flies, which are far more annoying. Plus, one of my dogs is highly allergic to insect bites and of course he likes to chase bugs.
