Woman banned for life from Walmart Stores in the US

You and me both!! I try to never shop there if I can avoid it. I will go out of my way and pay more to shop at locally owned stores with American-made products (also to buy ethanol-free gasoline.)

From what I've read, it had something to do with stores that advertise that they will double other store's coupons. From what I understand Wal-Mart has recently changed their policy regarding using these sort of ads in their "ad-match" promotion.

She may have had a coupon from one store, an ad from another store that says it will double other store's coupons, matched them to an existing Wal-Mart sale, and demanded that they "ad-match" for a doubled coupon.

They don't, only manufacturer's coupons, but from what I understand some stores possibly make manufacturer's coupons available within their ads or through the the coupons on the back of store receipts, and then you have other stores saying that they will double them, and then Wal-Mart saying they will ad-match.

Mix all of that confusion with an extreme couponer who is trying to game the system for every last dime and you get mayhem.

Yeah..a lot of stores are changing their coupon policies because of those people.
I coupon..but not to extreme. I just get what we need to get us by for a few weeks if we hit a hard patch money wise. Plus..with 2 teen boys in the house.. it goes VERY quick...

This what folks on some of the couponing blogs are saying this was about, a new policy that started in March, this was cut from a blog:

Walmart does not accept the following coupons: Competitors’ coupons for dollars/cents or percentage off, buy one get one free, and double- or triple-value coupons.

Although we have never been big on the idea of taking Albertsons doubles to Walmart, many people still do. With the new rules they will no longer be accepted.

My guess is that

1. the customer wasn't very polite

2. the staff wasn't very polite

2a. both of them say the other one started being rude first

3. the store changed their policy so that customers got less out of the coupons, and the lady was annoyed about that

4. shopping at walmart every day doesn't necessarily mean they aren't being frugal or that their couponing doesn't make sense. they may just stop and pick up only an item or two at a time, especially if they have to mess with all those coupons, are getting a ride or taking the buss. a lot of people i know don't have enough storage or refridgerator space to pick up everything at once....they shop every day.

5. having a video cell phone doesn't necessarily mean they're being extravagant either. these days, most people have video phones. it could have been a gift or it could come with a cheap monthly contract.

6. how they spend their money or how frugal they are, isn't really the problem, and is an irrelevant and dismissive way to deal with the problem

7. one moral of the story is that if the lady AND THE STAFF had been able to communicate better, it wouldn't happen

8. there are a lot of other discount stores she can shop at; walmart only has lowest prices on a few things

9. walmart is a very powerful corporation, and when there is a dispute between them and some individual, walmart is the one that comes out on top. why? because they're a big corporation.

'Hey are you in charge here? Because I'm really mad about these *** **** stupid coupon policies. I wanna speak to a manager!'

'Yes, it really was a big policy change and has taken a lot of customers by surprise'.

'Well yeah! It's VERY unfair!'

'Uh huh, and other customers also said there wasn't any notice ahead of time, about the change'.

'No there wasn't!'

'Yes, a lot of customers have complained. I'll get the manager, please sit down and make yourself comfortable - he might be on a staff meeting'.

'Hi, I'm the shift manager, I'm Mary. I hear the coupon policy change has caused you some serious upset'.

'Yes it has!'

'Me too. I collected a lot of coupons myself. I was very surprised.'

'You were?'

'Yes, and we are on a very tight budget, too'.

'So are we! It's really going to hit our budget'.

'I really have to apologize to you for this policy. I'm sorry Corporate did this, and I wish I could change it. I even asked them if I could honor the coupons until the end of the month. Nope - the computers have already canceled the coupons. I've had many upset people to talk to today'.

'Well, I was pretty upset when I came in here'.

'Yes, I feel terrible having to tell people that I can't even take the coupons for even a few days'.

'Well, you have a good day. It's too bad this company just changes things with no notice'.

'I know. I'm sorry. I hope the rest of your day is better'.

"Thanks'.

Alternate ending:

Manager runs after lady screaming, 'PLEASE! PLEASE! Take me with you!!! TAKE ME TO COSTCO!!!!!'

I find it odd that someone could have their phone slapped, argue with manager and still want to go back. There is way more to this than printed, guarantee there is some kind of history prior to that day's events too. I don't love walmart in fact we avoid and tend to frequent more locally owned, small business places. we go there when needed as they are open 24 hours and the only place in the county to get some things. But for this story, I think something is up, and likely not all Wally's fault. Just to add - her husband is afraid he will be banned?????

. Dare I say what my husband would say about stepping foot into a store that banned me?

Wait, I get it now, he finally found a wife-free zone with a snack bar!

When I used to live in a metropolitan area, I almost never shopped at Walmart. Now that I live in the boonies, walmart is the closest thing to a full grocery store around.

(and it's still 13 miles away)

I don't love the store but it is convenient.

Anyhow, it's their store, they can kick people out if they feel they have the reason. The people kicked out have the right to make it seem unfair and complain about it.

In IL, recording is illegal. Particularly if you record a cop in any way shape or form. That's a class I felony. Up to 14 years in jail.
A woman who was assaulted by a cop tried to press charges on him and got the run around from the police. Fed up, she recorded the conversation where they told her to just drop it. She presented the evidence she had captured on her blackberry to those in charge. She was promptly arrested.
