Woo-Hoo! Just got our first eggs!

We got our first two eggs yesterday and another today! The kids are beyond excited. They want to go out every 15 minutes to check, lol.

The eggs came as a surprise because my chickens are only 16.5 weeks and I wasn't expecting them to lay yet.

I didn't have any nesting boxes in yet so I found one on the coop floor and one in the run. The kids and I put together a nest box (we had to use newspaper shreds as I was out of wood shavings - hope this is OK). They went on a search around the yard for a small egg-shaped rock to put in there. Today, when I went to peek at them, one chicken was in the nest box. We went out about an hour later and there was an egg!

Dunno if I can post pics, but I'll try. Here are our first two eggs along with a "large" white store-bought egg (for size comparison).
