Wooden door ...how to secure it

So you are trying to keep the door from opening upwards, right? It swings on hinges, I see, like the window to the right of the door.

I hate to be annoying, but if might help if we could see where that door is in relation to the run. I'm wondering if there's a way to run a longish board/dowel/broom handle or something like it from outside the run and across the front of the door to secure it - like thread it through something on either side of the door frame so that it prevents the door from opening. Kinda like this:

I don't know if I'm making sense or if it's even feasible. Just trying to think of ways you might be able to block the door without getting in the run.

Thank you. Little small for my 8 guineas but it'll have to do for the winter so they keep safe.

I get your idea and it's a good one but I believe a 2x4 blocks it. I'll have to check when I get home to see if that's an option.
Nice run!!!! I can see our suggestion might be tough unless you can get a really long section of rebar.

That might work with some very carefully placed eye screws, 2 to hold bar when it's open, 1 on door and 1 beyond door to lock it.
Rigging a rope pull to operate door might be harder.
Add snow and ice to the mix, gonna be tough...
...which makes me wonder if the run roof is going to hold up to snow load.

I am going to be in the same boat as you when my DH gets my chicken tractor finished. The plan is to have a loop in the top of the door, with a metal rod attached to it that will extend up through the top of the run. I will be able to pull the door up and shut with that, then another rod will drop down vertically in front of the door to secure it.
That is the theory for now. OK guys, punch holes in my theory about why that would not work.

I think that would work, as long as you have a way of making keeping the door shut at night - maybe an eye hook or something similar above and below the door? Idk... It's hard to theorize without actually being there. That's not a complaint about the questions you all are asking. It's commentary on my problem-solving skills! LOL
