This is Sooty. He looks so sweet, so innocent don't he?

That's because HE IS! Sooty's only successful functioning as a rooster so far has been to mate with the laaaadieeeez. He does not:

Sort out pecking order problems

OR

Warn me about the dratted egg eating raven that keeps pinching eggs. No, it's not Sooty, he's too busy eyeing off the big beautiful butts of his laaaadieeez. It's my old hen Megatron with a voice like a horn. Today she let out a big alarm while Sooty was mooching around doin' NOTHING OF ANY USE.

By the time I got there the raven had drilled a nice big hole in the egg.

This is the first confirmation that the raven has been stealing eggs. Good Meg, bad Sooty.

Well, with a boss hen named Megatron, Sooty is probably staying out of sight! Or did Megatron hire that egg-eating Raven and try to blame it on Sooty? Sound like something Megatron would do.

Really the best part of this story, including the outstanding pic of Sooty, is that you have a hen named Megatron. Makes me want to rename all my chickens.
