I am going to buy a multi-level worm bin but how many trays should I buy with it? I know they come with anywhere between 3 and like 5 i believe. How many trays would you recommend I buy?
Start with 3, see if it works for you, then buy more trays if you need them.

That's all I ever had and at one time I had about 2 thousand worms. 3 trays are fine, you likely won't need anymore ever. See if you can find a block of coconut peat and hydrate that to put your first worms in. Try
ebay, they don't cost much but they are full of nutrients worms apparently like!
Does it tell me in the directions, when I buy a worm bin, what to put in each level? Im assuming if I want the worms to work their way up that I put them in the lowest tray right? Then just put a bunch of stuff on top of them?

Yes, yes and yes..but the "stuff" you put on top of them should be either damp newspaper strips and dirt and I really, reallylike the coconut peat..freeze and apple then mush it up..easy to mush after freezing, and ix that with corn meal and put a handful in the corner under your bedding..avoid the temptation to disturb them every five minutes, lol!! Hard to do!! And in a few days they will all migrate to the food and in a week or so they will eat it all and you cna feed again..read the directions with the bin, you dont want to overfeed or the rotted food WILL stink. You'll get the hang of it and be fine
