I had a very difficult time replying to everyone’s response to my earlier post about this. I cannot upload a photo but let me describe it better. The blood looks like a blood clot, thick and round. But may not actually be blood. Could be a mouth, I dunno. It’s attached to yolk. Attached to blood looking spot is a thick gelatinous cord that rolls under my finger when I touch it. It is very solid. Also small white thread in a “S” sort of shaped pattern. It is very gross. I am letting it dry out so I can get a better look at it. Thanks to all my welcoming responders!!

The wormy spiral is the chazala, a normal part of the egg; if it's bloody there may have been a developing embryo inside.

Embryonic development is not at the chalazae nor does it in any way resemble what has been described....more like a blood/meat spot.

When the OP opened the egg she could have gotten blood on the chazala from a developing embryo if there was one in there.

It sounds like the normal chalaza with a meat spot in the egg. Meat spots are normal in orlder birds and can be red or brown.
