Worm Treatment Results - Drinking a lot of Water Still

Just went out to check on her!

Her crop feels great, its completely gone, night and day compared to yesterday. I let the other girls out to free range a bit and gave her a handful of her feed soaked in some water. She mopped it up! She looks very good and acting very normal, but I am thinking I should still administer the Monistat treatment. Or is it possible what I did LN and this morning by making her vomit cured the issue?

Now onto something strange. Soon as I checked on her I noticed this odd looking poop. Looked almost like a small egg in the middle of the poop shaped like a kidney or something. Upon further inspection it was a white rock, dead center in the poop. Rock was maybe 1" - 1" 1/4" in size. Now at first I thought she pooped it out, I was SOOOO happy thinking maybe this was it, could she have? But upon further inspection looks like maybe she just had awesome aim and pooped directly on the rock? You can see where I flipped the rock over and the impression it left. Either way I am feeling better about her sour crop issue.

P.S. Is that some intestines in the poop?

If the crop is sour smelling I would still treat for sour crop.

Do you happen to still have that "egg"? If you do, can you cut it open?
It does not look like a rock to me, it looks like "lash material" which is usually an indication of Salpingitis which is inflammation of the oviduct.

Let's inspect that more if possible.

It does not look like a rock to me, it looks like "lash material" which is usually an indication of Salpingitis which is inflammation of the oviduct.

Let's inspect that more if possible.

I am pretty certain its a rock, it can't be cut open but yes I can obtain it. They are all tucked in for the night.

I did administer the Monistat. Doing it orally wasn't easy for me, I need to work on my skills. I couldn't get her beak open long enough to get it down and she was pulling her head all over. I think I got it pretty good, I'll try again in the morning. She is being such a good patient and my daughter did good holding her but I have to teach her to hold her against her body so her arms aren't killing her.

I did grab it and double checked, its definitely a rock. But wow those lash eggs really similar.

Is it possible she pooped that out?

I've never seen my chickens poop a rock that big!

Intestinal shed like that is usually roundworms in my case, which could also be causing the crop to back up. Passing a rock like that migh also create a backup, not sure.

Thanks I can't figure out if she passed it or was just a conscience. Judging by the imprint left when I rolled the rock I think she just had good aim.

I see that now! Doh! Should have read your description a bit more closely. That's a good thing that it's a rock and she's got great aim

One thing I like to do if having to syringe something into a chicken is stand them on a table instead of trying hold them. I feel like I have more control that way - I drape an arm over them, pull them to my body sort of with my elbow, then you have that hand to help control the head/wattles while you have another free arm/hand.

I do see intestinal shedding in the poop, but if that's a one time thing, then I wouldn't be too concerned. If not, then hopefully the meds will help with that. With them being new to your property, Coccidiosis may be part of the problem too, but let's see what happens over the course of a couple of days.

The syringe tip really helped thank you. I was able to drape my arm over her pressing her against my body so I could use two hands. I was able to get her mouth open long enough to get it in pretty good.

Her crop again was empty this morning, which is good, didn't smell anything funky like prior so taking all as good signs. Still have her isolated with her own water and I gave her some damped food, little more than yesterday and will give her more when I get home later. She looks good and acting very good so far so good....

I will keep checking her poops to see if they improve or start looking more normal. I'll check her crop again later on.

So far so good still! I've been checking her crop in the mornings and it's been empty. I wasn't able to keep her isolated as long as I wanted with her only eating watered down food because of some early weekend commitments but her crop was empty this morning and she had been eating regular dry feed since Saturday. I checked her little breath and it didn't stink but still been giving her the monistat to be safe. She makes a pathetic sound when she sees me now but she is so docile and such a good patient, poor girl probably hates me. Hope she can get back on track and laying. I don't thinks she's ever laid since I got her 5 weeks ago.
