Correct Kathy. No need to use wazine first. Wazine acts like a flush and if there's a heavy load of large roundworms, a blockage can occur causing toxic dead worm overload. Then there's a good chance the chicken will get sick and die. Valbazen slowly kills worms over several days eliminating the possibility of blockage and toxicity.

Getting it in Canada might be tricky. Are there any vets you can talk to?

Rural King and Southern States farm stores carry it in my area. It's around $40-45, but that is about 1000 1/2 ml doses. I share it with friends.

Question on the issue of eating eggs after de-worming -- where did the 14-day thing come from? Is that simply an agreed-upon number within the community just-in-case/to-be-safe? Or did it come from a more "official" source?

The bottle will have instructions on it.

Keep in mind the drugs used in both wormers are also used to treat tapeworms in humans. It isn't an antibiotic so it won't create resistant diseases.
