Yes...they most likely did come with worms.
Where did you buy them from?

they came from a local lady that raises and sells them. I got them as layers. I do have 6 week old chicks that have had little exposure to outside. Do I need to treat them?

I would deworm the entire flock at the same time.
Some people would not deworm the entire flock.
It is a personal choice.

I had the same bad luck and made the same mistake of bringing very wormy chickens into my flock and am currently treating them all with Safeguard and Piperazine.


Lesson learned! Hope your chickens recover fully.

Liquid Safeguard dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally for 5 days in a row.
No repeat.

If your hen weighs 4 pounds, then 1ml dose once a day should be fine.
