Worms & Respiratory Disease - Rooster Booster Worked!!!

Again, thank you so much!! Out of curiosity, do you do anything preventative for tapeworms or only treat when you see the signs in their poop?

I've seen that Rooster Booster wormer at the feed store. I'm stubborn about new methods until i do the research. Bacitricins is the ingredient of BMD soluble which is used with Neomycin for enteritis. Neither are absorbed in the bird and pass right through the intestinal tract. I cured enteritis in the past with it. Hygromycin is new to me.

I've normally wormed every 3 months, sometimes sooner depending on soil conditions using valbazen liquid cattle/sheep wormer.

Hi all!

I wanted to provide an update since I had problems and am now seeing results. What I got to finally work to get rid of tapeworms was Verm-X poulty pellets. It is ALL-NATURAL and there is no egg withdrawal when using it. Plus it works to eliminate other worms also. I tried the Rooster Booster but didn't see much change and I tried the Zimectrin Gold equine paste wormer but I couldn't get my chickens to eat it, even on their favorite food - hotdogs. As soon as they got a tiny taste, they wouldn't have anything to do with the treat, so I had to try something else.

The link above is for the Verm-X. I bought the pellets and added it to their food. Since my girls already had worms, I followed the instructions to double dose them. The product is meant to control intestinal parasites of all kinds and should be supplemented into their food monthly to maintain a healthy chicken.

Happy to see my chickens feeling better!!

Verm-X wont kill worms. Rooster Booster wont kill tapeworms, but Zimectrin Gold will. Your other option is to use Valbazen liquid cattle/sheep wormer to kill the tapeworms.

Have you tried Verm-X, dawg53? The reason I ask is because that is the only thing I have changed in my chickens regimen and the tapeworm segments are no longer being discarded in their waste like before. The product is advertised as killing intestinal parasites and keeping intestinal health. I have heard from others that it worked for their chickens also.

Whatever the case, my girls seem to be worm free and are back to laying their normal amount of eggs each day, so I am happy!

I will definitely be on the look out for a reappearance. Keeping my fingers crossed that they don't come back. :)

One question for you, dawg53, can my little 10 week-old chicks have the Valbazen liquid cattle/sheep wormer? All my chickens share water and I wasn't sure if it would be too much for younger chicks.
