Definitely my sebrights. Not friendly at all, super skittish. Rooster is a total dirtbag, mean and loud. Wont have them again.

I had a very simar experience with my golder laced red Wyandotte.I’ve always had bad luck with Wyandottes. They are belligerent, both to us and the other chickens (and these are just hens!). They’re not reliable layers, and small eggs. Mostly, though, they’re just stupidly stubborn. I had a Wyandotte that would refuse to go into the coop at night, instead roosting on the A/C unit or in trees. I’d have to go hunt for her every night. She eventually taught a bunch of the other hens to copy her behavior, which caused her and them to get killed because some predator found them before we could. They are pretty chickens though.
Same on the wyandottesIf you do, rather get Cochin Bantams. We have both, the Cochin Bantam beats the Silkies in everything, feathers down. The lay better, are better moms, goes broody a lot more, are way smarter and thus the chicks they raise tends to be smarter as well(or at least acts smarter).
But after all this I still prefer a silkie over the Wyandottes I have had. Mean birds, eats a ton of food and gives you very little for it.
Interesting but the wyandotttes consume a lot of food and lay very little eggs in returni see people saying wyandottes and wellsummers but the wyandottes that i got recently from ideal were friendly and lay good. the wellsummers i got from a breeder that i had in the past were calm and layed the darkest eggs. worst breed for me was black copper marans: sickly and eggs not as dark as people claimed, will never have another. second was krainkoppes:loud flighty and not many eggs. and then ganoi that couldnt handle virginia winters
I dont see that at all. These are silver laced wyandotte.Interesting but the wyandotttes consume a lot of food and lay very little eggs in return
yeah................ I would agree with that. still plan on buying one, as they are supposedly good Broodies, and if I start breeding Sebright Bantams, it might help to balance out the whole "poor fertility non broody" thing those birds have.Honestly, silkies. There is absolutely nothing in that head of theirs and are so fragile of a breed. I never liked silkies due to how unbelievably stupid they honestly are; silkies can’t save themselves from an ant. No hate to any silkie owners, just making that clear, as the breed isn’t bright.
I haven’t owned any but I’ve been around plenty of my friend’s silkies (one breeds them as well). I much prefer a more spirited serama or cochin bantam to a silkie. Still as loveable and sweet but not dumber than a rock.
This sounds a bit personalthe roosters are built like a brick wall. a stupid, muscular brick wall, that's more likely to crush a hen than mate with her.
Have to agree on this one ater owning threeHonestly, silkies. There is absolutely nothing in that head of theirs and are so fragile of a breed.
