Would you do this to save your friend??

I like how they say he was "bobbing" in the water.

...just sounds like shark bait when you put it that way.

YIKE!! I have been swimming there.

We are also about to go in a couple of weeks again.

Funny thing is when we visit we always go to venice beach to get sharks teeth, yet I have always thought the shark attacks were always in california lol!

To the OP, I would definitely do that for a friend.

Moreso if you think about it. At least alligators and sharks are predictable.

I have never understood the fear of sharks. They're an amazing predator, but we are not considered a prey item. If a shark has to choose between a human or a dead whale, he's going for the whale. Human or seal? Seal. We just aren't up there on the list of tasty meals. I've been in the water with many sharks, and been completely ignored. They're a very misunderstood animal. A beautiful predator that should be respected, not feared.

My husband always says that Malies only swim in square shaped bodies of water. So you are out of luck with me. He spend lots of time in Florida, kind of raised there. He went to the beach after watching Jaws, finally went into the water and five min later the lifeguards called all people to land for a shark near the beach. Another time he went swimming in the St Johns , when he was snorkeling and diving he failed to see a huge manatee coming closer , the dang thing swam right over him.

Having grown up in Australia and also being forced to learn to swim at a "fenced" beach area where sharks could not enter but other nasties could (like stone fish and portugese man o war) I ONLY swim in pools now.
So I think I would be standing in the boat screaming for that person to swim to the side (or throwing a life preserver) and then help him in.
Just like if someone got snakebit on the butt.....ummm your gonna die

Brother was fishing in the ocean about 10 miles out and had a 12 foot great white circle the boat every time they landed a fish. He carries a hi-capacity 9mm for such an occasion. Plenty of sharks.

Sharks are investigators . They take a test bite to see if you taste good. Unfortunately , that may be enough to kill you. I have not rescued anyone from a shark, but I did tow a guy half way across a lake once when he got tired swimming. If I loved someone, I would go after them if they were injured.

A friend amongst my tight group of friends? Probably.

Certain relatives? I'd take the time to throw a bottle of shrimp cocktail sauce.....to the shark. Bon appetit!

When I was in high school my brother and cousin caught a 6 ft shark (forget what kind, but maybe lemon or tiger) and took it home on the city bus! Talk about nuts.

So my best friend who lived with us and I came home from work, fought to get to the bathroom shower cause we had dates. I won. Locked the door, turned on the water and something splashed! I opened the curtain to see inside and screamed. That's when I heard everyone outside the door cracking up. OK so we took sponge baths, since my brother was out playing with his friends and wouldn't come in and move the darn thing.

They say sharks have to be in water and moving to stay alive. BS! That darn thing was too hard to kill with anything we had and lived for 2 days.

They caught this shark in Alameda where they tell you there are no sharks. Yeah right. That's where I was when I was 5 and had tails slapping me and my friend from school was bit. He brother and his friend ran in for us. They did a report on the news one week about wow...um 29 years ago, geez and it was about the same beach. No sharks. My niece had a BDay party that following saturday and on my way down the stret there are a canoe type boot with 3 guys and a shark strapped to the side.
