We are a family of three. Me, hubby and baby girl. We are wanting to sell our house rent for a whille get out of debt and buy more land. OUr probelm is we have four dogs and cat. People hear this and run from us. Two of my dogs are older then sin and sleep 24/7. They also dont shed as their bichon frises. The other two are labs but they have cgcs and are certifed therpay dogs. They are not going to eat the house. NO body will touch us with a stick. We just had the farmer who lives by us ask if we'd sell so we are waiting to hear from them sometime next couple days with a offer. Butt we need somewhere to go. Would you rent to us?

Oh wow. That is a bummer. Four dogs and a cat is ALOT for a landlord to swallow. I would probably not......(so sorry) unless you paid an extra fee for each pet, which would make your rent $250 higher. (Around where I live, it's $50 a month per pet on the rent.)

I'm an animal lover, not a hater, so don't be mad at my response. Maybe you could ask the person you want to rent from to come over and see your place. If it's neat and clean and doesn't smell like a big dog house, then that might comfort them enough to allow you to rent there.........

Good luck to you.......(I'm so sorry for your troubles.) I sincerely hope you fine something!

No. But, only because all I have is a travel trailer that I could rent out and 4 dogs and 3 people would be crowded

It is tough to find places when you have very many pets at all. Seems like a load of places have that 'under 20 pounds' rule now. Under 20 pounds isn't even a dog if ya ask me

That would be a foot warmer

Anyway, yeah..I feel your pain on that one. We had a hard time when we were travelling to find places that would let us rent..thus the purchase of the travel trailer. We 3 and 2 dogs lived in that thing for 6 months at a KOA. It was fun! Maybe that could be an option for you all. Travel trailers would be CHEAP right now, and monthly rent including water and electric was only $400 a month at the KOA we stayed at in Arkansas. Don't knock till ya try it

Oh, we had 2 90 pound Pit Bullies living with us...and a snake. We also had a pool, trikes, and a dog park

Trailers aren't as small and craker boxy as they used to be

ETA: MY travel trailer is smallish. You could find one to accomodate. I saw a few folks come in for a dog show who had 5-8 dogs in theirs! BIG BIG trailers though...with a few slide outs, not just one slide out like mine.

I would. I think it is crazy, I have dogs, cats and other animals and my kids are messier. You can have animals and have a clean home. I hope you find someone that will rent to you.. Good Luck.

As a person who rents I would have to say no...Because if I let you I would have to let others and just because your animals are good or you clean up does not mean others will. I have let dogs and cats in apartments that were totally distroyed by them. I also am a pet lover I have dogs cats chickens ect.. so I hope you can find a place:)

You would be hard pressed to find a bigger animal lover than me. I've got 6+ cats in the house and a house dog plus my outside dogs and a slew of barn cats, but no, if I still had a rental house I would not allow more than probably one house cat. Been there done that with an old farm house we owned and have now sold to our son. It was not a good experience.

You are going to have a difficult time. If possible, you need to avoid discussing the animals until later in the process......let the landlords meet you and you see the place and then if I were you I would only then broach the animal issue. And have backup. Pictures of your animals showing good condition, CGC certs, references from your vet about constant care, etc.

If you have ever rented with pets before, get a letter of reference from your then landlord showing you cared for the place regardless of your animals.

Even then, you will have a difficult time.

I have several rental properties, and my limit is two dogs. Four is just a lot for one place, even if you take good care of them and of the home. As a landlord, I don't know you and your cleaning habits, and in the wrong hands four dogs can cause massive damage to a place. I agree that finding a landlord who is willing to come to your home and see how clean it is might help. I feel for you, as I'm an animal lover, too, so best of luck.

yeah thats going to be a tough find, even if someone says yes you might see the place and want to say no. But if I was a landlord I could over look it if you have good credit and pay your rent that should be more important. The place you rent might be so expensive because of the animals you might be better off staying in your home till you find the next place you want to own. If you have room in your house why not rent space to earn extra cash. If you have room in your house for a one bedroom or more that could help you save on the next place you want and help get you out of debt.

I agree that you're going to have a hard time. Part of the problem is that most landlords have had someone with animals who DID destroy their property and I guarantee that they all said the same thing: our animals are great, well behaved and won't damage a thing. A letter from a previous landlord and pictures of your current home might help, but I'd bet if you can find someone who'll accept them all, they are going to charge you some pretty stiff fees to do so. Good luck!
