What is that website? Can you post a link?

Can't remember the site, sorry. Been looking at so many websites that sell quail, trying to find one close enough to me that I can make the trip to collect the birds, as soon as I saw how much the birds cost I was off their website!!

But having been continuing my search today, I have found another site that has some slightly outrageous prices. The jungle bush, mountain, crested bobwhite and rain quail are especially expensive

All the birds he sold were from his own breeding birds and he sells hatching eggs as well. I'm not sure when the breeds were originally imported, but there are a few places that breed and sell them. I've found places that sell Californian, Mountain, Gambel, Mearn, Bush, Rain, Chinese Painted, Japanese, Italian, Bobwhites, Harlequin

I never knew there were so many breeds before. The only problem is these places seem to be few and far between and most are too hard for me to get to. I have considered ordering hatching eggs, but that may just stay an option for the future

I have gambels and blue scales, bob whites and a few partridge the hand raised partridge are the ones with the most personality

i sell my breeder females at 5$ each and sometimes people think im crazy and laugh. others happy to pay that.
i sell breeder males (or DOG birds) for dog training or eating at 3$
juvie ( feathered maybe a little fuzzy head at youngest) for 3 each as well.
chicks are min. of 5 chicks for 5$. and they sell just fine.

NOW AT AUCTIONS

i may get anywhere from 8-10 each for a breeder hen (usually colored ones sell for more) thats why i mix whites with jumbos at auctions people like colors in the box not just wilds. i also put an egg or two in the box so people know these are laying birds( some think they laid it while in the box) it helps my sale most of the time

.. but even at that high price of 8-10 dollars other days i might get a dollar each for a breeder hen. so auctions are a hit or miss.

we can put any price we want on our birds. and anyone can refuse. i dont make a killing off of these birds and sometimes i even loose a bit of money. but all and all the hobby pays for itself and even a bonus few bucks here and there for my troubles will come around sometimes.

I have 4 or 5 people who want eggs and quail from me...more want me to raise bobs - but I don't have the room for bobs, I got the permit, and all I do is cook the eggs and get a deposit down then sell the chicks for $ owed...done that 3 times so far, pretty good stuff.

the corturnix - I have 3 or 4 who want eating eggs, before a dog wiped out half my colony I was selling eating eggs for 5$ per quail dozen(25) (price they offered me) - sold a few young males for 3$ a piece and some breeding pairs for 10$ ...not bad. NOW I am finally raising back up the new stock to replace what I lost, and hopefully get back to business so these guys at the plant will stop harassing me for quail and eggs - lol.

its all about demand, if your in an area where not many sell quail - and you have people who want them - you can make a killing. if theres a bunch of folk who raise quail - your not going to get as much.

If you can get to the point all you sell is chicks this is the best way to do it I get $2 for a bob chick ,also check the reptile places around you find out what they are using for food there are sales to be made there as well

Frozen brooder fatalities make great snake food, if you can find an outlet. depending on the size of snake they will eat in the range of baby button quail, to a full grown med./Lrg. Chicken. Any baby quail that are lost arn't to much extra work to freeze, and you can get about .25 ea. out of birds that died and were just going to go to waste.
