A drunken man switched off the power supply to a poultry farm and ended up killing around 70,000 chickens due to his negligence
A drunken Maryland man is now has so many deaths on his hands, thanks to his drunken stupor which led him to kill thousands of chickens. According to reports, a wandering man accidentally shut off the power supply to a poultry farm and due to that, around 70,000 chicks were killed. The incident took place in Delmar, Md., and the news really came as a shock to the owner of the poultry farm. The drunken man responsible for the horrific incident is identified as Joshua D. Shelton, 21, of Delmar, Md. When he was arrested, Shelton did not even know what he had done and why the police were arresting him.
According to the details of the incident, Joshua Shelton turned off the power supply to the poultry farm while he was in a drunken state, and he then passed out at the same place. The next morning, the owner of the property made the horrific discovery and he even found Joshua passed out on the floor of the power control shed. Shelton was just wearing a T-shirt and boxer short, and he was lying in a puddle of his own urine. “This subject was also lying in a pool of his own urine. A strong odor of alcohol was also coming from the subject,” Wicomico County sheriff’s Lt. Tim Robinson said according to a report by
When Shelton was discovered by the property owner, he called the police who then awakened him. “Shelton advised the last thing he remembered was being on the property after a nearby concert but did not know how he ended up in the shed. The deputy surmised that in his intoxicated state, Shelton turned off the circuit breaker that controlled the elec to the chicken houses,” Robinson said, according to the report.
According to investigators` reports, Joshua Shelton had been at the owner`s property with a group of friends and that also included the property owner`s daughter. However, everyone left on that same night and the owner`s daughter thought that Shelton had left as well. However the circumstances indicated that Shelton did not leave and had in fact stayed back at the property.
Joshua Shelton has been booked into jail on charges of second-degree burglary, trespass and malicious destruction of property.
