Wrath's Marans

Raven hanging by the 2 broodys.
Dbl yellow on left with 8 of Ravens eggs and Betty on the right with 6 of Mommas eggs.

The broodys won't let her come in while they are there.

Angel broke for the most part. She still acting broodyish (clucky puffy) but she isn't going back into the nest box. She's roosting at night. Black is in cage and Raven is acting like she wants to go broody again, she layed 2 days ago but been hanging near the other 2 broodys like she wants to steal their eggs, but won't enter so I'm blocking off the eggs when broody comes off the nest.

Summary....mass chaos. 😁

Broodys are so much fun. I have been pushing my Wyandotte Lacy out of the nest box for several weeks and she won’t give up. I really need to send her to broody jail but I’m afraid of how my Rooster Axl will react if he sees me put her in the pin.

He has almost forgiven me for the cockerel culling a few weeks ago and I don’t want to break that trust. He hasn’t charged me recently but I still feel like I have to look over my shoulder when I know he is behind me and he still keeps an eye on me. Someone he flaps and vocalizes a little but I think we’re past the foot stomping and charging.

Yes that's a sensitive one you got going on.

Take her off the roost/nest box at night and put her in there, he'll never see you do it, so shouldn't relate the two

It's rough...she's a long layer so I don't know if shes laying or wanting to sit again when she's in the nest box. I had eggs in each one for the pullets but that was encouraging the hens again, I think. 🤬
