He will die if not properly hydrated and fed. Watch these:
Crop feeding videos

These are using a crop needle, not a plastic tube.

This one uses a tube like I use

Tube feeding is pretty simple. You just have to be sure the tube goes into the esophagus and not the trachea. You should be able to feel the tube once it's in the neck. It's difficult to visualize the larynx in a chicken but a few times practicing and you should get the hang of it.

I wish more would just try... maybe less would lose their birds if they did. With a large enough tube it's almost impossible to put it down the wrong hole.

ok so you've convinced me!! i will see about going out in a bit...weather seems to have cleared up a smidge, at least it's not pouring and lightning like it was! as far as the tubes, would Tractor Supply have them do you think and do i have to buy a special feed like you mentioned in one of the links you sent or would the baby food work?

so for a tiny 1 pound bantam, what do you recommend for the tube size and amount/type of feed? the tractor supply site doesn't show any kind of tubing (that i can find anyway). didn't see it at petsmart either....and ordering online would take too long.
