Wry Neck in my Adult Silkie

For your information, this is your state facility...
https://vetmed.iastate.edu/vdl/laboratory

From their Fees page...

Pathogen: Necropsy
Species: Avian
Test: Necropsy - Avian adult (each)
Standard Fee: $10.00
Days Tested: as needed

It appears there is also a $6 carcass disposal fee and possibly a $10 submission fee on top of that, but at a total of $26 that is still very cheap and well worth utilizing for the benefit of finding out what you are dealing with, if you are ever in a similar situation or for anyone else reading this and wondering about how they would go about it and how much it costs.

I finally got a few clips of Hatti and her odd head movements.Trying to figure out how to load the video on this site....

Thank you for the videos. I have seen some others posted here very similar to those neck movements, and have thought there was a neurological disorder or Mareks.

Rebrascora has provided the info on getting a necropsy in the future. They are well worth the cost to get a diagnosis. Local vets normally don’t do testing, even if they do a necropsy.

She has had these neck movements since we got her, well over 6 months. If she had Marek's wouldn't she have since died? The movements have never gotten any worse and she doesn't always have them.Could she once have had Marek's and this is the damage she sustained? Or.... is it ..just her?

It could be, but it may be due to a head injury or a genetic issue. None of us can say, which is why getting a necropsy result helps fill in the blanks. If you knew for certain Lexi had Marek's then it would make Hattie's probable diagnosis easier, but we would still only be looking at it statistically. If she suddenly gets worse that would also make it more likely but we can only guess. With Marek's anything is possible because no two cases are guaranteed to be the same.

Another thing I thought of. I lost Lexi’s mom couple months ago. She was loosing weight and seemed to sleep more. I came out to find her dead in the run. For all I know is she had Mareks and it passed to Lexi.At this time taking Lexi to have a necropsy is not an option with work schedules and the Holidays. I don’t believe Hatti has or had Mareks. I believe if Lexi did have it,in all probability it started with Macie.

That is certainly possible. Where did you get Macie?
